Worst Estate / Letting Agents

Worst Estate / Letting Agents I have dealt with. Landlords, avoid as they treat your tenants like trash and it will cause you grief when the tenants kick off. Potential tenants, go to a different firm and protect yourself from a lot of pain and misery. Potential sellers, go elsewhere because you will get 3rd class service and why settle when other agents will do better. I’ll never use this firm or anyone associated with them for sales and lettings, I’ll also do my best to stop my friends, family and anyone really from using them because my experience was so poor at the end.

STAY AWAY. AWFUL EXPERIENCE

STAY AWAY. This agency it's a complete waste of time. All members of staff have a attitude! Lauren Hayward its by far the worst! When asked her for help, her response was. "No one has a problem with it". After 100's of forms, proof of an income and being verified, proving that between me and the person that is renting with me we earned more than £78 grand early together, they told me the land lord was not comfortable to rent to me because I have an IVA! Which was mentioned on my application before I paid the deposit! I got my deposit back, after reading all the reviews about how they kept people's security deposits,I just went crazy on them and they refund me. Don't waste your time! AWFUL EXPERIENCE

AVOID - terrible customer service

Estate agents are unprofessional and make buying a new home a really stressful experience. From the start, even a simple thing like arranging viewings has been very difficult, time consuming and turned into a battle between two agents from different areas. I have never witnessed anything like that. After complaining, I received no answer, no apology, no solution. AVOID.

Acorn properties is the worst estate…

Acorn properties is the worst estate agents money can buy. They have a team that doesnt care. They have properties that arent functional and they time and time again have ignored us. The first experience i had with acorn was moving in to my new flat, to find out there had been fire restrictions placed on the building. Forcing everyone who lives here to sign in and out of their building and in order to have a friend round, they must complete a fire induction between 8am to 4:30pm. This means if your friends work a 9-5, they cannot visit. Of course, acorn was entirely aware of this situation and failed to mention this despite us ringing multiple times before moving in about other enquiries. Once we even saw an article about our building being condemned, and once again when we called up to ensure we were okay to move in. They made sure to keep this very quiet. From moving in here is a list of issues:
- boiler broke in weeks
- boiler broke again
- radiator towel broke, tripping all of our electrics
- there was a leak in our bathroom, someone from property management came, removed tiles from the wall and the bath side panel. Left and never returned (that was a week amd a half ago)

If you are considering using this estate agents, take it from me. Ur better off being homeless

Wouldnt trust these comedians to house…

Wouldnt trust these comedians to house a hamster. Should have known it wasnt going to be great when it took them 2 months and numerous emails and phonecalls just to get a simple invoice out of them. When my son turned up on the first day, the house hadnt been cleaned from the previous tenants and there were all sorts of bugs in the carpet, settee and beds. Again, lots of calls to get something sorted. Then a leak gets reported, and reported, and reported, and just gets left. Eventually the ceiling comes down with all the water coming through. There's damp issues and various different forms of mold and mushrooms growing in the bedroom which they seem quite comfy to leave there. And when my son and his friends leave, they're going to try to rent the place out to some other students!!
So do yourself a favour, just avoid this shower as they are truly dreadful, unless you have really good solicitors.

Awful experience, avoid at all costs!

Awful experience, i don't even know where to start! No contact to let us know contractors would be coming, they would just turn up unannounced, we were told we couldn't move in on our tenancy date as some carpets needed replacing, but they never were, the extractor fan didn't work for the whole Year and no one was sent out to fix it. The list goes on. To top it off we lost £75 per person from our deposit as apparently the house wasn't cleaned to a ‘professional standard’, however we left the house spotless and in a much better state than when we received it. The company may seem nice but all it does is supports and encourages landlords to extort students by making deductions from their deposits which are not their fault.

Property Manager rude and unhelpful. Flat left dirty with rubbish.

We recently purchased a property from Acorn Properties. Our estate agent Matthew Lewis was great throughout the 9 months it took for the sale to go through. Matthew kept us updated regularly and helped to push the sale through from his side.
My main complaint was with the property manager Rebecca Long. As the property had been managed by Acorn properties previously, I had to deal with Rebecca to get the checkout report etc. Throughout my dealings with Rebecca, she was unhelpful and rude. I was told on numerous occasions that rubbish from the flat that had been left by the previous tenants would be removed prior to us taking ownership. However, on the day of ownership, Matthew ended up taking a few bags of rubbish away. We then had to take additional rubbish to the skip. The flat was dirty and it took 3 people 8 hours each to get it to a clean standard. Rebecca told me on numerous occasions that it had been left in a cleaner state than the previous tenants had received it. From my experience, a flat is normally cleaned prior to tenants taking ownership but clearly not with this company. My advice for anyone looking to rent from Acorn in the future is don't, unless you want to move into a dirty flat and deal with an unpleasant woman.

I wish I had read the reviews first

I wish I had read the reviews first. This outfit is quite frankly, atrocious. False promises, mis-selling and absolutely zero integrity. By the look of it at both client and landlord level. AVOID.

RUBBISH!!!!

RUBBISH!!!!

My advice would be to use a managing agent that actually manages! Acorn allow their tenants to dump rubbish on other peoples property and do absolutely nothing about it. Dozens of phone calls - dozens of promises - ZERO results.

We have called Management Accounts and Sales and although we are promised everyday that it will be cleared nothing is done and each day more is added to it. The rubbish is encouraging flies, maggots and rats and it is unacceptable. We were told when the property was made into flats that the tenants would have no access to the rear alley but already they have fly tipped rubbish and are using it to park cars.

Excellent agents

The team at Acorn were brilliant from start to finish when selling my property. They were thorough and kept me informed at all times and highly professional throughout. They surpassed agents I have used in the past and I highly recommend them.

I rented a student property for my…

I rented a student property for my daughter on Bayswater Road Jesmond via Acorn. 4 months afo my daughter informed the landlord of damp in the kitchen-I was shocked when I visited today (I wish I could add pictures) to see the kitchen still in an unliveable state. I called Acorn and they explained that they only actually found the tenants for the property and had nothing else to do with it. I appreciate this is the case but I won’t be using their services next year and please be careful what landlord you use because I wouldn’t want anyone else to end up in a similar situation

Well done, Acorn Properties, Jesmond

I am very surprised at the negative comments from previous reviewers. Our experience from a renting and selling perspective has been excellent. We have no qualms in recommending this local independent agent for any renting and selling activities.

Acorn Jesmond Newcastle

Please be careful, most reviews here are fake. I really wish I could give them 0 stars. I am an international student who have rented more than 5 apartments from different agencies during my stay at the UK. By far this agency is the most unethical and unprofessional agency I have dealt with. I have used their service for 2 years. During the first year I had no troubles at all, however, since the beginning of COVID, even after the lockdown when all shops reopened it took them forever to replay to emails and they never picked the phone. The only time they responded fast was when I had to renew my tenancy, it showed me that all they care about is money, not the customer satisfaction. You might be questionable as to why I have renewed the tenancy if I am saying they are unethical and unprofessional. It is because I wasn’t in UK at the time and I had my personal belongings in the apartment (tv, clothes, kitchen appliances, etc) so I had to renew, I didn’t have an option.

As an international student, I really enjoy my stay in the UK. I love the people, food and culture. Yet, the very first time I felt unwelcome in this country was when I received a call from the manager of this agency called John. Here’s why and what happened: the agency once sent plumbers to fix tiles/shower issues due to leaking, and apparently the plumbers told John the apartment was not in best condition and it was not very clean even though I made sure to keep my place clean all the time (never been told that by any of the agencies I have used in the past). Relying on what the plumbers have told him, without any proof or evidence, John called me and told me that he is going to send a cleaning service to clean my place and I have to pay for it, I refused that as it did not sound right to me. My apartment was very clean, even if it was dirty I think it would be more logical/lawful to ask me to clean it otherwise they will deduct from my deposit if it is dirty when my tenancy ends. John’s replay was very surprising and insulting to me, he told me that he knows Sheikhs in the GCC region (where I come from) and if I did not pay for the cleaning service he will call the Sheikhs and tell them, this really surprised me because what brings this in a matter between an agency and a tenant. He said it as if he is threatening me with the Elite relations he had in the GCC region. I came to the UK to educate myself and live peacefully not to be threatened with Elite members in my country/ neighbour countries, this was the very first time I felt unwelcome in the UK. It was very disappointing and insulting.

The second issue I faced with the agency was when I asked for my deposit. My tenancy ends on 10/08/2021, few weeks before that I called the agency many times to inform them that I have cleaned the apartment and took all my stuff and I will be leaving, however, they did not pick the phone and they never called back. I decided to leave on 09/08/2021 one day before my tenancy ended and I left the keys in the postbox and sent an email stating it. I also asked them to give me my deposit back through DPS, and now they are asking me to give them all my deposit lying to the DPS that my tenancy ends on 10/09/2021 instead of 10/08/2021, they say they want a fee of 1 month rent that I did not pay (it is funny because all my rents are paid upfront and they still want more money). It’s been about a week since I rejected to give them my deposit and I’m still waiting for their response to my dispute.

Thanks for reading through, as a tenant who had experience with many agencies I promise you that any other agency you will use will be better than this agency in terms of professionalism and customer satisfaction. Acorn Properties are greedy and they will try anything to get money off you so be careful!

acorn Swanley Kent

This company keeps sending us advertising letters to our house Acorn Swanley Kent. If I want to sell my house or rent it out, if I want to sell I will go to someone else. What a waste of paper. It is just a pain keep getting junk mail. ACORN GET YOU ACT TOGETHER. You don't even deserve one star.

Based upon our experiences as a tenant…

Based upon our experiences as a tenant I would never recommend Acorn either to anyone looking to rent a property or a property owner looking for an agent to manage their property. I have two daughters who have both been to Uni in Newcastle and have used various agents and I wouldn't let Acorn manage my dog kennel. Their systems are awful (they asked us to provide evidence of rent payments made as they said their accounts system couldn't cope with the volume of payments that come through), their people are worse than useless - all other agents pick up the phone and speak to the tenants if their is a problem - all Acorn do is send emails on the basis that as most properties are joint tenancies so the other tenants and guarantors will have to pick up the bill in the event that one tenant doesn't pay. If you are looking for a good property agent don't go to Acorn Properties.

Our tenancy deposit might as well be…

Our tenancy deposit might as well be robbed off us at gun point. This company came up with numerous ridiculous reasons not to return our money. The DPS wasn't helpful either and made an unfair assessment of the entire case. I will never deal with Acorn properties moving forward even if I'm paid to do so.
