No help given for a scam

My 70+ year old parents booked and paid for the 2024 Rapa Nui Marathon hoping to end their marathon careers with a bang. They flew 25+ hours paid close to $10k only to arrive at the marathon location to find out there was nothing set up and the organizers had disappeared. Having bought tickets through, what they thought was a reliable source, active.com, they thought they would at least offer some kind of compensation or accountability for advertising and selling tickets to a non existent event, but no. They were met with the basic run around of saying “not our fault, contact the organizers” and upon telling them that the organizers’ contacts had been disabled, Active.com gave no further assistance or even acknowledgment of the situation.

Just evil

As many reviews note here, they are crooks. Activated a 99.99$ membership while I signed up for a mud race. On top of that, they need me to pick up some goody bag that's mandatory for participating in race. As per their logic, I can pick it up for free 1 day prior to race but on race day I have to pay 5$. Nice Logic. I learned my lesson. Never again.

Very scammy

This organization is very scammy. Somehow we had an account with them with a bogus birthday listed. While we had no credit card on file, they managed to charge us $99.95 for Active Advantage. Beware of this company!

Absolute scam

Absolute scam. Signed up for Tough Mudder. Tried to get a refundable ticket. No options to cancel when tried to cancel. Emailed. Missed deadline by 2 hours. I will never participate in any Active or Tough Mudder associated event again.

Evil and scummy scam company

On two separate occasions of signing up for different things this company took my payment information and signed me up for their products without my knowledge or permission. One time they charged me 689.60 when signing up for preschool (which the preschool didn’t even know about). The other time they signed me up for a recurring monthly $99 fee when my wife signed up for Pilates (which had nothing to do with her Pilates club and the Pilates club didn’t know anything about it). They are a scam and their practices are evil and scummy!

Ordered quality artic gloves, got some tiny cheap Gloves and a monthly payment of £39 for NOTHING

You place an order for something, and these thieves start taking a monthly fee from you, even though you know nothing about it. I ordered some ski gloves, when they arrived they were cheap nasty pieces of junk. And then they start stealing £39 per month from you. This company should be closed down, just thieves, nothing else. CANCEL YOUR PAYMENT SUBSCRIPTION ON THEIR WEBSITE IMMEDIATLY

Hidden Charge, Worthless Discounts

I signed up to run a half marathon 6 years ago and this company has been charging me $89-$99 per year for the last 6 years. For a membership that supposedly saves on processing fees for the races - but I've never seen any savings. They do give an online discount for shoes - but I don't shop for clothes/shoes online.
I had no idea I was getting these charges. I saw emails saying I have the membership but today I finally scrolled all the way to the bottom to notice a charge. Sleazy.

Sleezy company

Sleezy company. I ordered at art class for my kid for $80. There was a checkbox on the order form to "opt in" for easy refunding if I had to cancel for any reason. Sure, why not.

I happened to check my credit card the next day and the charged be an additional $16 to have the ability to easily cancel and get refunded. They did NOT disclose this charge clearly at checkout. They snuck it in just like people sneak in little ones and twos into Bills within Congress. Legal criminals right here...

Camp insurance scam

For our kid’s summer camp, registration is through this website. The camp itself has a normal cancellation period and fee. This website slips in refund “insurance” for $105. It’s a scam and unbelievable how they take advantage of families. I’d advise any third party (such as this camp) to remove their organization from this platform.

Shady Business

It appears Active Network slipped an "Active Advantage" annual membership into my most recent Tough Mudder registration and proceeded to charge me $99.95 for a membership I didn't want.

I have canceled my "membership" and requested a refund.

Shame on me for letting them slip this by me.

Shame on Active for deploying shady business practices. 👎🏼

BEWARE

BEWARE. This company retained my credit card information when I signed up for a charity spin class 10 years ago and later manually entered my credit card information and personal information to sign me up for a membership, which has added up for over $450 in charges. How is this company still in business??

Absolute rip off

Absolute rip off. Just registered for the Henley 10k and paid £40 then realised that the entry fee is £25 - they are pocketing the rest for no added value. Great ethics guys - I could have given that to my charity.

Tuscany walking holiday May 7th 2024 - mixed experience - mixed experience but great overall,

Tuscany walking holiday May 7th 2024.
A really most enjoyable experience overall.
The highlights - the daily itinery is well planned out and very well managed and coordinated by the excellent guide Francesco supported by Giulia and Stefania. The daily schedule was perfect which included good time in Sienna, hill walking daily in the region - rolling hills landscape / Montepulciano, Cortona and visit to the Franciscan hermitage etc / vin yards of this Tuscany region. The td active group on this walking holiday added to the very enjoyable walking holiday.
The downside - while the Admiral Palace Hotel in Chianciano scores well in many ways (spacious, comfortable, nice facilities etc and a good breakfast menu), the important downside for future travellers is that the experience of our group was a most disappointing evening meal experience / the evening meal is very substandard for a group on a 4/ 5 hour daily hill walking holiday. Example - dinner servings are very obviously portion controlled, mostly no vegetables served, main portions well below standard size wise, desserts served partly frozen. Requests for veg resulted in - you have to pay extra on your bill. A request for ice cream - you have to pay for it was the response. On a hill walking holiday a deceant nutritious evening meal is most essential. It’s was not available on this walking holiday. Well done to the excellent guides and itinerary and group which made it a great holiday experience in Tuscany. Let’s hear from the Hotel Cateting Manager please!! Arthur Ryan.
