Intuitive, excellent customer support, affordable

The price is very good. The customer service, especially for what we pay, is generous. The platform is easy to use. I used it first many years ago and chose it for a new project because it was so easy to learn and intuitive. Its easy to integrate with Wordpress and other platforms, too (though it does take some know-how).

Automations are great, but overall needs improvement and lower pricing

The automations are great, however, it's not an easy task to share a link to a campaign on social media. Also, be sure to SAVE your work often! There's no "back button" to rely on if you accidentally delete. The pricing is getting too high as well....I'm a one-person business with under 5,000 on my list, and the platform is getting too costly.

Unauthorised charges after cancellation – poor handling”

I cancelled my account with ActiveCampaign in August 2025. Despite this, they continued to take money from my bank account in September — an unauthorised transaction.

When I contacted them, their representative admitted it was a technical error on their side. Yet they tried to frame the refund as if it was a goodwill gesture, saying they “don’t normally issue refunds.” This feels dismissive and even gaslighting — it was not a normal refund situation, but a correction of money they should never have taken in the first place.

The error has caused stress, wasted time, and disruption to my business cash flow. I am now pursuing a formal complaint and requesting compensation.

I would advise caution to anyone considering this company. Be very careful with your billing, as even after cancellation you may find charges still being taken.

Useful Platform for BULK emails

Platform is very useful but contains teething problems. Very hard to get help when you need it as there is no phone number to communicate directly with a person in the support room.

The platform is good and functionality…

The platform is good and functionality served me for more trhan 10 years. I has now become too expensive for my family based business, they suddenly doubled my monthly premium in 2023 just for adding a feature I am not using and is unable to offer a smaller package, although they say the price offered is at 68% discount. Ridiculous! Im not stupid. I'm moving away as soon as this term is over to Brevo at a fraction of the cost for the same automation functions suitable for me.

Useful platform, helpful staff, but site is buggy and slow

ActiveCampaign is a useful platform, but in the past year or so the site has become incredibly slow, buggy, and frustrating to use. The support staff have always been very responsive and helpful, but the issues have definitely made me consider switching to another platform. I suspect all the AI additions may be to blame.

No longer the company I want to work with.

I've been with ActiveCampaign for 8 years and they've continuously raised prices while taking away services. When contacting support, I was informed that the services I had always used and counted on would now cost me significantly more and I would need to purchase by the piece. Email is incredibly important to small businesses and we need partners who understand that. It appears as if ActiveCampaign is looking for the giant companies now and leaving their original customer base behind.

I am in the process of moving my business elsewhere. It's disappointing for a company to no longer value the companies who helped them grow.

Average, although to be fair to them, I've been using they for about 12 years, so in comparison to other similar software, they're average in regard of today's standards...be careful...THIS IS ONE MASSIVE NEGATIVE...there's no auto save, although it looks like there is...it doesn't work and last month, I lost my whole monthly newsletter....it didn't save any changes and I had to rewrite it.

Support said that there was no way to regain my changes...I'll be changing provider once my annual contract ends.

Good Marketing CRM, bad for reporting

ActiveCampaign is a strong solution for email marketing, automations, and CRM overall. The platform offers versatile tools for A/B testing, transactional email management, and contact segmentation. An additional advantage is the ability to integrate multiple shops across different currencies.

The reporting functionality, however, leaves room for improvement. The built-in reports and views provide limited value, and the custom reporting section is cumbersome to use effectively.

I love the ease of setting up…

I love the ease of setting up automations, scheduling emails, writing and sending emails. Much easier to use than other platforms I've used.
However the price jumps and the inability to undo something are frustrating. I understand new development and just the upkeep of the platform costs money, but I also feel I don't use the new features, nor will I probably ever use them.

Scammers

Scammers. They deleted - without notice and without any explanation - my affiliate account with over 3000$ dollars earned. My business is in the supplement and pet space so 100% compliant. Plus they overcharged me in another account and refuse to give me money back. I've been using Activecampaign for over 10 years, this company is not what it used to be anymore.

EDIT: they just replied saying they "have reached out", but obviously they did not.

It's a complicated platform to learn. Ai is not even close to helpful. It's very time consuming especially if you don't use it regularly. But it does a good job when it's set up.

Active Campaign is consistently at the top of the list for email automation and deliverability. It has a no-frills CRM to keep account notes as well. They have a new text message marketing system as well. Great bang for the buck.

One of the worst support ever

I was initially satisfied with ActiveCampaign: the system is user-friendly and easy to work with.

Unfortunately, my experience completely changed after an issue with the automatic renewal of my payment. After returning from maternity leave, I noticed the problem right away and contacted customer support. We exchanged countless emails, but they were unable to identify the cause.

Since I urgently needed to send out important emails for a trip I am organizing next year, I suggested several alternative payment methods, including paying for a full year in advance. All of these were immediately rejected because my account was “too small.”

Support assured me that my account would remain active while their engineering team investigated the issue, at least until the date when my crucial newsletter had to be sent. Guess what: that did not happen. On the very day my mailing was scheduled, the system failed again.

As a result, my most important mailing did not go out in the correct and professional way, and it caused me a great deal of unnecessary stress. Customer service is extremely poor when problems occur.

I am a small business owner and I have been an AC for over 5 years now. What I like is the simplicity, the price point ($250/mth vs. a HubSpot $2500), the connection with Zapier for automations and data sharing with other subscriptions I have (e.g. website & Calendly) and the Email marketing feature, especially the design.

However, I am often annoyed by its clunkiness; sometimes it doesn't safe, an error in the system that my team has flagged with AC years ago is still not fixed, the look and feel is like the 80s, the performance (speed) needs improvement, and the yearly price jumps are super annoying.

But at the end of the day, one needs to decide price vs functionality & user experience - it still does a good job.
