Possibly the worst after care service I have ever received – incompetence, poor communication and deception. Delivered a wheelchair that was basically unusable without many adjustments. Despite me asking for an equivalent spec to my previous wheelchair (also a Permobil F5), they provided a completely unsuitable headrest and got the measurements completely wrong. On the day of delivery only half of the set up was completed as the Active Mobility rep wanted to go home at 3pm, leaving me without a functioning wheelchair. It took far longer to complete setup because the sales rep John couldn’t figure out how to connect the wheelchair to his app. After repeated chasing we finally got agreement for a return visit by an engineer 2 weeks later. Some issues were resolved but the engineer didn’t know how to set up bluetooth connection to my phone, leaving me to try and figure it out with a google search. Communication was awful throughout – sales rep John frequently ghosted me on whatsapp and didn’t return calls, lying about trying to reach me and once taking two weeks to even respond to a message. Two and a half months after delivery and several wheelchair components had still not been fixed. Utterly shocking customer service. The fact that Permobil continues to use this provider suggests there is little quality control over its distributors – so beware when buying a Permobil, and do not use Active Mobility!
Exactly seven weeks ago, I ordered and paid in full for a motor for an Invacare Azalea wheelchair. I still have not received it. This is a shocking experience. I have been out of my money (£1200) for 49 days exactly.
I wish I had read these reviews before I placed an order. Dreadful communication after an initial good start. As soon as we had paid 50% of the price of an expensive wheelchair, communication stopped and we spent weeks chasing the order. In the end we cancelled it, got the deposit refunded and asked for compensation for the distress and time this had involved. This was refused. Go elsewhere and do not believe the staff when they say they will get back to you.
Dreadful company. Third party customer service that has access to zero useful information. No tracking info for any orders despite a lot of their items being of significant value. Absolute lottery whether or not order will arrive. Shameful business practices, especially in view of the fact that their customers are often purchasing from a point of absolute necessity. The company offered an excellent initial service when choosing a suitable mobility aid to purchase.
But the aftercare is APPALLING. Whilst waiting for essential repairs to be made, despite attempting to make contact, I had to 'borrow' a friend's wheelchair to enable me to get around! Etc. Etc......
I strongly advise to use a similar business and certainly not Active Mobility.
This is an awful company. I have been waiting months for a delivery and when repeatedly asked for a cancellation and refund no ‘managers’ are ever available to agree this. I have requested a refund in writing and by phone as their policy stipulates and still getting nowhere.
