Extremely worrying practice causing unnecessary pain to patients
I recently had a troubling experience at Adams Dental Surgery that I feel compelled to share. After visiting for an emergency appointment due to a hole in my tooth, I was advised to undergo an expensive root canal treatment and crown for nearly £2,000. Unsure about this diagnosis, I sought a second opinion from my trusted dentist in London, who confirmed that my root was healthy and that a root canal was unnecessary. Instead, I received a much more reasonable treatment that saved me over £1,000.
Unfortunately, my concerns didn’t end there. My son went for a check-up at Adams Dental Surgery. He was told he needed two fillings at a hefty price of £458. We decided to get a second opinion again, and thankfully, it turned out he didn’t need any fillings at all. This experience cost us an unnecessary £135 for the consultation and X-rays.
While the financial aspect is concerning, my main issue is the lack of trust in the recommended treatments. Patients deserve honest, evidence-based care, not unnecessary procedures that could lead to discomfort or harm.
I feel compelled to raise this issue to ensure that future patients are not subjected to similar experiences. I hope the practice takes this feedback seriously.
