Avoid

Avoid! I got my dog but he came with a massive untreated growth that was infected and cost me £1400 in vets bills. He was in an absolutely horrendous foster home not fit for purpose they didn’t even know his name and let the growth burst rather than get treatment . Shockingly he was with small children!! I did get my adoption fee back after a lot of emails! but they said he was 6 and the reality is he is at least 10. They said suitable for children but absolutely not as reactive and will bite but through no fault of his own but thankfully we’re an adult only home. They put me through the wringer to get him which is a bloody joke they should have paid me to take him.

I have been dreading writing this review…

I prayed it wouldn’t come to this but I have no choice but to share my experience with "Adopt A Rescue Dog"/ "Adopt A Stray" - which, in short, has been one of the worst experiences of my life.

I have wasted the best part of a whole year of my life waiting for a lovely dog called Benjamin from Bosnia that I fell in love with and held out so long for but ultimately would never see and will be seeking a refund by any means.

All was well at first with home checks etc but all moved quickly and payment was taken, followed by a breakdown of communication and no updates or contact with the fosterer after multiple requests from myself.

After being given 5 or 6 failed transport dates since September 2022, I had to face the fact that I was never going to see this dog and call it quits. The most horrendous communication you could imagine, no real reasons to why the dogs didn't travel each time; mostly just being left in the dark with no response for days/ weeks or just the odd poor excuse about how it is everyone else’s fault but her own (Kendra's).

I could see from a couple posts that other people were receiving dogs so it did seem that some were getting through one way or another but the whole WhatsApp group I was placed in with other hopeful dog owners would never get to see theirs either (except for one, who seemed to have been transported over unknowingly) and many many more from the sounds of other reviews.

The reviews surrounding the *charity* at the time I signed up for my adoption were fantastic but somewhere around the time I did sign up it seems to have all fallen apart; had I known I was going to get this treatment, I obviously would never have put myself through it and gone elsewhere.

Unfortunately £450+ down the drain with no real hope of ever getting it back due to her “debts” and as Kendra puts it, “going further into debt”. However, I can safely say I will be putting up a fight to get my money back that I am rightfully owed. I’m aware of many people being in the same situation and have also taken action against her.

I am absolutely heartbroken from the whole situation. What should have been the most exciting time, preparing to welcome a dog into your home and life, was just replaced with pure stress and chaos. The whole endeavour has put me off even trying to get a dog elsewhere in case the same thing happens again.

Avoid at all costs unless you want to be out of pocket and utterly devastated.

Our puppy died after 2 weeks. AVOID this CIC

Avoid this CIC at all costs.

Our puppy died after not being fully vaccinated and contracting distemper virus in transit. Our two year old is devastated.

Google Kendra Pinder and do your research before even considering this bad excuse for a company.

We are nearly £2,000 out of pocket after vet bills & post mortem costs (requested by Kendra as ‘proof’) and after agreeing to pay the costs has gone silent on us after 2 months of excuses.

Not to mention the aggressive and simply unprofessional approach of Kendra, and her volunteers.

We’re not sure we can ever face getting another dog after what we’ve been through thanks to Adopt a stray.

Also, their name changed from Adopt a Rescue Dog CIC so if you Google that name you’ll find hundreds of negative reviews after people had their money taken and never even received their dog.

Shameful.

You have to learn to trust in this crazy world of the internet. We had delivery of our perfect puppy from Romania last night as promised by Kendra. The proscess of getting her over was all new to us not being in control was my main problem but any issues or questions were delt with in a professinal and helpful manor. If you are looking for a rescue I would recomend contacting Kendra for advice.

Adopt a stray/adopt a rescue dog

Adopt a stray/adopt a rescue dog, it doesn’t matter what the label is this company is either grossly incompetent or corrupt. Your money will be taken and and estimate of 1 in 5 might receive a dog at the end of it but most won’t. Most will receive nothing but abuse and aggression or misinformation in response to any questions asked. I am not aware of any vindictive groups, I am however aware of two separate groups of roughly 60 people between them all of whom have paid adoption fees(non refundable donations) for dogs and have not received them. At the accusation levelled that no one has tried to deal with the rescue themselves this is absolute nonsense. It is very difficult to deal with someone who refuses to communicate with you either at all or in the very least civilly. Please research Kendra Pinder, Adoptarescuedog, adopt a stray amd the previous charities from which she was removed.

Adopt a stray and Adopt a rescue dog, be careful of false reviews

Adopt a stray is a subdomain of Adopt a rescue dog C.I.C, always has been....So no skull duggery here.
Hundreds of dogs are saved each year and found homes with no problem, unfortunately due to UK gov laws etc there were numerous delays that affected all rescues who help abroad
Unfortunately AARD is being targeted by an online disgruntled group of individuals determined to stop this rescue saving lives and finding amazing homes for rescue dogs in need, rather than deal with the rescue themselves. Many have not had any dealings with AARD, I fact one has a warning from the police against them and another is due in court for ABH against a member of AARD.

Same organization under a different domain name

Avoid this “company” please be aware that this is the same organization that is under adoptaresucedog.co.uk. Adopt a rescue dog C.I.C. They will take your money and not provided you updates or the dog. Kendra Pinder is rude and abusive to anyone who trues to get update or askes for refunds after she fails to anything
