Best Life Day Clubs 

Adorno Community Day Centre offers excellent person-centred care and activities for people living with dementia. My Dad has been attending regularly for the last 6 months and it is the highlight of his week. There are lots of fun and relaxing activities on offer, a nice communal lunch and good company..yet everyone can participate as much or as little as they want. I also value the regular updates on Dad’s experience of the sessions. Staff are thoughtful, caring and experienced in the Contented Dementia approach. This makes for a positive and enjoyable experience for both clients and staff and it’s been lovely to see how my Dad has engaged in conversation and laughter when he is at the Centre. Thank you Adorno!

My mother enjoys her time at the day centre in Yate and has made some good friends who she enjoys talking to. She feels happy and secure and loves having an opportunity to get out of her home for a few hours and loves the activities. Adorno is an outstanding service and also provides a break for my father.

I can’t rate the Stoke Gifford Day Centre highly enough, not only are the activities well researched and planned but the staff are friendly and full of enthusiasm. Activities range from art and craft, games, singing, cooking, debating top news articles and trips out. My Mum particularly likes the cooking as she has always been an excellent cook but can no longer do this at home on her own.
My Mum had a tough time though the pandemic along with so many other elderly people. She felt very isolated especially as she has dementia and didn’t fully understand the situation. She asked repeatedly why she couldn’t visit her friends, why hadn’t seen many family members and why hadn’t see been shopping for so long. When I spotted the Adorno Day Centre write up in the Carers News, I contacted them and received very informative information back from them, it was clear to see they ran a professional and caring service. A new Day Centre was due to start in Stoke Gifford near to Mum, we booked one session to see how Mum coped and I accompanied her. Mum was nervous to meet new people in a situation that was out of her comfort zone but the minute she walked in and was given such a friendly welcome she settled right in and now she keeps asking is it Friday tomorrow as she can’t wait to go to what she now calls her club.
Each session is followed up by an email detailing the activities and events of the day and if Mum enjoyed them, of which she always does. This is very useful for conversations with Mum to remind her what she did and keeps her mind active.
I have seen a substantial improvement in my Mums wellbeing since attending the Day Centre along with the Companionship service which needs a review of its own, it is the perfect follow on to the Day Service. Companions are matched to your loved ones needs after an assessment of what is required. Both services are excellent and have given me piece of mind that my Mum is being well cared for and able to continue doing activities that she loves in a safe environment either at the Day Centre or in her own home with her amazing Adorno companion.

My Dad who has Alzheimers enjoys attending the Adorno Day Centre in Frampton and has described it to me as the highlight of his week.  

The staff at the Day Centre have made my Dad feel very welcome and treat him as an individual taking the time to get to know his personality, his likes and dislikes.  It has surprised me how quickly he has accepted the Day Centre as part of his routine and also with how many of the activities he has joined in with: arts & crafts, cookery, games and even cocktail making ( non alcholic! )

The feedback I get every week from the Day Centre is great. Just a quick line to tell me something Dad enjoyed or even just to mention a look he gave or that he finished his dinner before everyone else again is reassuring and helps me feel he is really cared for and understood.

I watch my 86 year old Dad go off to the day centre with a spring in his step! He is collected from his front door by a smiling member of staff from Adorno and helped into the community transport. I even get a wave from the other Day Centre attendees as the bus leaves.

Deciding to give the Adorno Day Centre a go for my Dad has proved to be very worthwhile for him and me. He gets companionship and something to look forward to and I get the reassurance that people trained in dementia care are looking after Dad and feeding back to me how he is getting on at the centre. I have also found the Careers forums Adorno runs each month useful for advice and meeting other careers.
