The vacation was great

The vacation was great. The only improvement would be with Aer Lingus itself....they need to load the plane from the back as it goes much faster

Our first trip with AerLingus travel vacation

Our first trip with AerLingus Travel Pakage.
Because of the weather forecast in Ireland,I was concerned about our trip.
I phoned the 1800 number several times .they were very helpful, and polite.
We had flown AerLingus once before, were very satisfied. So we were happy to reserve the vacation .The flight attendants are courteous, and professional.
The bookings for our B&Bs were easy.also the car rental.

Go! It's so easy to travel thus way.

Second time I've taken this trip to Ireland and everything was seamless. No problems anywhere along the line, from flight to rental car to accommodations. I recommend them to family and friends all the time.

Aer Languish - was expecting more

Difficult to customize & upgrade--why would folks staying at 4 star hotels want to fly economy? Offerings look good on surface, but fine print reveals many flaws and time consuming maneuvers when making changes. My compliments to online staff. Your JFK lounge was fantastic--service and food/beverage selection. Bus class plane food offerings seem to be designed for 100 pound person. When I asked for dessert and cheese was told no--yet 5-6 passengers didn't even request dinner--went to sleep--and I noticed attendants seem to enjoy their food. Bed seats were least comfortable I've experienced. Hotels were fantastic, 100% regarding food, cleanliness, and service--except Fitzgerald--strange location, old, distressed hotel, middling food, but excellent service. Dooley was overpriced for services received; and 2 counter staff lied to me. Though I had travel insurance, it was worthless when I needed to return early due to family illness. I booked Delta choice seat for less money than Aer Lingus was offering in basic economy. My brother had paid lounge pass, was well dressed, but denied lounge access. His special meal arrived early but wasn't cleared away for 1 1/2 hours. He is filling out a complaint. I will never book vacation package again, and Aer Lingus, unfortunately, won't be an airline I'd likely fly with again.

Globus Ireland tour

Did not realize it would be a Globus tour until the final details arrived from the vacation store. It turned out well. My first experience with a US tour group. Excellent tour guide, Bob, and driver, Greg. Like England, Ireland is a "green and pleasant land." The taste of beef and lamb is excellent as the beef cattle and sheep graze freely eating grass. Fish excellent, too. Museums were impressive, especially The Titanic in Belfast. Good memories.

Outsourcing Problems

The Aer Lingus flights were wonderful -- on-time, uneventful, clean, wonderful service and great ground support in Boston & Dublin. The Vacation Store was simply okay. For no logical reason, they are unwilling to offer fly/drive packages from Shannon despite the availability of available cars. Because the Vacation Store is outsourced and not operated by Aer Lingus, they could not book seats with the reservations requiring a second set of phone reservations. In the future I will always attempt to make the reservations directly with Aer Lingus before booking any Vacation Store packages.

Wonderful Experience

We had a wonderful experience with Aer Lingus Vacations. Our rental car was ready when we showed up at the Doolin counter at the rentall place, even though we opted to upgrade when we saw the size of the car originally booked. Doolin also gave us a GPS to use at no charge when the wireless hotspot seemed not to work continuously or hold a charge.
The B&B's were great, some superior! Ashford Castle was a dream, truly the lap of luxury. Hotels were ok--would rather have been booked in Dublin on the 1st night than Kilkenney.
Overall great experience at a reasonable price!

My friend and I had the most wonderful …

My friend and I had the most wonderful time in Ireland. The hotels Aer Lingus had arranged in our package were just GRAND! The rental car was in great condition and we were able with GPS from our phone to travel all over the east and west coast of Ireland. The trip was affordable and we are both seniors so we watch our expenditures. People we met were polite an amazing fact was you pay for your gas, after you pump it, not before, tells how much honesty still exists in some countries of the world.

We were so happy with our trip

We were so happy with our trip. We liked all four hotels very much. The flight was easy from Bradley Airport. Also, liked the flexibility of being able to take the train any time on the day we went to the next city. The train is so easy to use! Check the train schedule ahead of time so you know your options for travel times. Trains do not run as often between some cities or you may have to switch trains. We thought the Ashling was a little far from the vibrant part of the city, but it was very close to the Heuston Station where there was a Luas stop, so we rode the Luas. Also, check the Airlink airport bus before you plan your departure time. We thought the Ashling (Heuston Station) was the last stop, but ended up spending 45 minutes on the bus before heading to the airport. Luckily, we had planned to arrive 3 hours before, so ended up there about 2 hours before. We had a wonderful time and would recommend using the Aer Lingus Vacation Store and would use them again in the future for our own travel.

Apprehension of driving in a foreign …

Apprehension of driving in a foreign country were totally answered by the highly competent and knowledgeable staff. They also, through their extensive experience, answered questions that only professionals would know (car insurance, sign postings for sights, route maps, GPS system, toll roads, etc). The wide variety of trip options fits our retired budget and other budgets as well. Individual guidelines and contacts through B&Bs or hotels were most helpful. Just an added item - hotels have bath tubs - B&Bs have showers. Tourists should bring a face cloth and bar of ivory Soap for travel. Irish driving rules from the internet are an invaluable aide to parking and driving. Also the motor coaches take only coins and not paper money and do not offer change. Pay-and-Display parking is only with coins. Prepay the M50 toll at mini-mart shops in Dublin.

Flight from Boston to Dublin was very fast and enjoyable

Flight from Boston to Dublin was very enjoyable, flight Back I feel we were extremely crowded
The trip we made all around Ireland was amazing, however, the places that Aer Lingus booked for us were all clean, but very far away from everything. That is really the only negative I have about booking through Aer Lingus. The people in Ireland, all the weight staff were wonderful. They are extremely kind people in Ireland.

Love Aerlingus!

I was nervous for my first trip using vouchers and I'm happy to say it went smoothly and we had no trouble at all! Amazing trip!!
The plane was a little warm, but otherwise, we were very well fed and the flight attendants were very polite and accommodating!

Ireland by rail

My wife and I explored Ireland by booking through the Aer Lingus vacation store “Ireland by Rail”. The trip afforded us to visit Belfast, Dublin, Galway, and Limerick. Overall, the country of Ireland is incredibly beautiful and the people of Ireland so friendly. Included in this trip were airplanes tickets, rail ticket vouchers and hotel bookings in each of the cities.

The hotel in Dublin (The Merrion Hotel) was amazing. The staff there were exceptional. The hotel in Belfast (The Europa Hotel) was very nice and had a long and interesting history. It was conveniently located in Belfast. The hotels in Limerick and Galway were terrible. I would not stay at either of these again on a return trip to Ireland.

Getting around by train does afford you to see the Irish country side and relax from city to city. The only downside to traveling by train is that along the train tracks in a number of places there are overgrown trees and shrubs, which make viewing impossible. However, when you can see the views they are spectacular.

The reason we booked this type of trip was so we could control the pace. The train tickets were open for the day, so we could move along at a Pace we wanted (just need to know the train schedules - very important). The staff at all the train stations were very helpful. Getting from the train stations to the hotels could be easily done by walking, taxi, or city bus.

I think Aer Lingus could improve this trip package by offering passengers a few different hotel options in each city. This could impact the overall price depending on the hotel choices, but would have made this trip much better. One hotel we stayed at was listed as a 3-star and there was no way it was even a 2-star. The hotel was centrally located in the town we stayed, but the hotel facilities were really bad. It was next to all the restaurants and pubs, which upon arrival seemed great. However, at 3:30am when people were still coming out of the pubs - not in their best behavior or quietest voice - it was overwhelming.

Even though 2 of the hotels were quite poor, we had an amazing time. We explored many wonderful cities, kissed the Blarney Stone, saw incredibly scenery, and met wonderful people. We will definitely go back to Ireland and would take trains to many of the cities, and would be more selective about the hotels.

Hope this helps.

A Great Way to See Ireland

We were absolutely delighted with our trip. Everything worked out just as planned. The only reason I did not give it 5 Stars was that most of the B&B options were somewhat off the beaten path--not terribly convenient to the major stops. However, "off the beaten path" led us to some wonderful discoveries!
