Much better alternates in the market
Very good at taking premiums and payments, and the worst at settling any claims. Staff like Pankaj are enough proof of how to damage customer service and increase the number of dissatisfied customers. Never, ever take a premium with them, as there are many better ones on the market.

Claims take some patience They approved my claim for a delayed flight, but it took about 25 days to see the money. A bit slow on the admin side, but they are honest and pay out.
Very disappointing experience with AIG…
Very disappointing experience with AIG handling an AppleCare claim. My son’s phone was lost in the ocean, and I provided Find My screenshots showing its exact last location. Despite this, the claim was denied—first saying tracking wasn’t enabled, then changing the reason to Activation Lock not being on.
We never disabled anything, and the phone had recently been serviced by Apple with no guidance about reactivating settings. The shifting explanations feel like an attempt to avoid paying a legitimate claim.
After years of loyalty to Apple, this experience has seriously undermined my trust in AppleCare and their insurance partner.

Superb support The online chat support was very helpful when I needed to extend my policy by two days while already abroad. Sorted in minutes.

A bit pricey but worth it You can find cheaper insurance elsewhere, but AIG'a coverage is much more extensive. I'd rather pay a bit more and know I'm actually covered.

Highly recommended for families The family plan coverage is excellent. We had a minor medical incident with our son during our holiday and AIG made the whole process stress-free.
I'm 59 and this is the worst company…
I'm 59 and this is the worst company I've dealt with, by far, in my entire life. I am POA for my parents and they have made it incredibly painful for me to transfer funds. I do what they say, then they add something else. I'm now almost a year into trying to get access to my parents' accounts. I have legal documents. Went and got notarized signatures and now they want more, more more. I'm not sure I've ever given a bad review to an entire company before. HORRIBLE company!!! Stay away!

Arrogant and very disorganised in their communication.
Qantas actually made money from my cancelled flights as they would have been able to resell them at a higher price than what I purchased them. Also AIG can sponsor cricket teams but not extend flight credits or refund money even though they are partnered to Qantas.
I had a legitimate injury provided medical information which they will gladly take all your private information with no intention of actually paying you for what you’re actually insured for.
Never use AIG again that’s a no brainer.
Last year
Last year, I had to submit a claim following a minor incident, and it went more smoothly than I thought it would be. Although communication wasn't immediate, it was evident at all times. I was relieved not to have to follow updates all the time.
AVOID AIG INSURANCE AT ALL COSTS – DENY LEGITIMATE CLAIMS WITHOUT REMORSE
AIG Insurance (claim AH0274657): My Frankfurt-Chicago flight collapsed into a 48+ HOUR DISASTER—cancellations, rerouted via Detroit, arriving at hotel 3AM Tuesday March 17th instead of Sunday 15th. Forced to absorb non-refundable Monday hotel and car rental costs.
AIG REJECTED IT COMPLETELY, ignoring their own section 11.1 that clearly covers "delayed departure due to coverable reasons" + "unexpected accommodation when you cannot continue same day." I COMPLETED THE TRIP—this was pure delay reimbursement they refused to pay.
Predatory tactics, pocketing premiums while abandoning customers. Completely unaccountable, forcing endless re-evaluations. AIG = UNTRUSTWORTHY INSURANCE AT ITS WORST. Steer clear entirely!

Amex using this service like insurance company, it most horrible insurance company, that I had experience.
Amex is ruining his own reputation.

Great for frequent travelers I travel for work almost every month. AIG's annual plan is a lifesaver. It’s convenient and gives me one less thing to worry about.
WONT PAY OUT WHEN YOU USE IT: Absolutely a waste of $$$$
Absolutely a waste of money and bordering on fraud. I had and paid for this policy for 10 years. When I finally submitted a claim for a torn rotator cuff they buried me in paperwork, repeatedly requesting the same information OVER AND OVER again. I would get a request weekly. At first I sent them all they required but then it got ridiculous and it was the same stuff I had already sent. After a year of this I cancelled the policy and can only warn other to not waste you money on this fraudulent policy.
The worst service with replacing your phone
The worst when u lose your phone and have everything from find my iPhone screen shots to the police report! I filled a claim in January and it’s almost April in a couple days! No phone and they avoid helping by saying wait 3-10 days every call and I call 2 times a week! The worst customer service ever from the corporate office communicating with customers. There is none unless u call them, they promise to email and u never get one! They wait u out so they don’t have to deal with u after the claim is filed.. sad but definitely not worth getting in counseling my service after the issues with this claim

Smooth claim for a lost phone My phone was stolen while I was abroad. I followed the instructions, filed a police report, and AIG settled the claim within a reasonable timeframe. Very happy with the result.
Easy to deal with Quick
Easy to deal with Quick, easy, and affordable. I’ve used AIG for my last three vacations and never had an issue. The peace of mind is worth every penny
Terrible experience currently with this…
Terrible experience currently with this company, they are scammers. They are unprofessional, unresponsive and inefficient. I pay monthly for insurance on my iPhone that I paid over $1,500 cash for in the case it is lost or stolen. My phone was stolen a month ago and AIG has yet to resolve my claim. Every time I call I am told to give it more time, the representatives state the claim has been escalated and a supervisor will be reaching out, but they never do. I have emailed them countless times, they never respond, I can never get a supervisor on the line, they immediately denied my claim without any investigation never spoke to me, and make it impossible to find a resolution in the appeal department. Their response is always "there's nothing I can do" please do not waste your hard earned money on this poor excuse for "insurance" as you will never see a dime.

Top notch service I had a complicated question about my coverage for an upcoming trip to South America. The agent was incredibly knowledgeable and stayed on the line until everything was clear. Highly professional.
If I could leave less than one star
If I could leave less than one star, I would.
Dealing with AIG has been an absolute nightmare. My car was totaled by an AIG-insured driver, and it has now been over FOUR MONTHS with no payment.
I’ve been assigned three different adjusters, which tells you everything you need to know about their internal organization. While they eventually evaluated my car at a fair price and I’ve already transferred the title, I am STILL waiting to be paid.
I’ve had to call more than 30 times just to get basic updates, and every interaction feels like starting over. The lack of communication, accountability, and urgency is beyond frustrating—it’s unacceptable.
This has been one of the worst customer experiences I’ve ever had. I would strongly caution anyone against dealing with this company.

I was a bit hesitant after reading some comments, but my experience with AIG travel insurance was actually great. I had a medical emergency during my trip to Europe and filed a claim for the expenses. The online portal was easy to use, and I received my reimbursement within two weeks. No hidden clauses or endless paperwork in my case. Very satisfied.
