Air India cancelled my flights with less than 12 hours notice, tried to gaslight me on the phone for an hour, and now won't give me a document I need for my insurance claim.
If i could give zero star i would. Absolutely ballistic customer service.
Avoid Air India if you value your time and sanity.
Both my flights were cancelled with less than 12 hours notice. I only found out by logging into their website. No email, no WhatsApp notification despite it being their "primary channel."
A 1H call with customer service was a nightmare. The agent blamed weather, then said the flight was "not operational," yet a friend showed up at the airport and boarded the exact same "cancelled" flight.
She also repeatedly accused me of accepting the itinerary changes myself. I had only checked in online.
The replacement flight was delayed by over an hour, with the delay notification sent out exactly at departure time. My journey was pushed back by over 24 hours total.
To top it off, Air India refuses to issue a standard flight disruption document for my insurance claim. Despite multiple calls, a formal case, and escalation to their highest support tier.
Zero accountability, zero communication, zero follow-through. Truly one of the WORST travel experience I ever had.
Unprofessional, rude, untrained staff with broken aircraft that will deliver damaged luggage as souvenir with refusal to fix it. Not worth your penny.
The airline damaged our luggage, my kids and wife landed very early morning at the airport. Airport was very crowded and when they came through customs they realised one of the bag wheels was lost. We immediately asked Air India staff about reporting the damage. They asked us to go to departure gates to report it (where they told us it is only for buying tickets). When we reported via email they are flatly refusing to repair it. They also badly handled another bag when my kids flew back from Mumbai. My parents also had very bad experience flying with them on domestic flight (significant delays, absolute mismanagement and no updates about when is next flight, arranged for smelly refreshments for my parents which they threw in the bin straight away). The staff at Delhi airport were absolutely rude. We supported them even after recent fatal crash of London bound flight. I would caution flying with them as their tickets are costlier, service is appalling and in the flight things may or may not work eg screens, seats won’t recline (even in business class). You got far better and reliable options that offer better value. It’s not worth being loyal to you AI. You are not worth it.

0 star would be a better option. This is the worst airline I have ever been on, and I will never be booking with them again. To start off, the food options were appalling, curry or curry, to which both gave me S&D! By S&D, I dont mean sickness and diarrhoea, I mean search for a toilet and destroy it. Thats just the food, then the lack of leg space and uncomfortable conditions on the planes there and back with our connecting flights almost ruined the start to our beautiful holiday. We were delayed outbound, and when we landed in Deli airport, the staff were rude, and rushing us pointing at their wrists and shouting "hurry up the plane is waiting", baring in mind, it was their airline that made us late to the connection. We were told to run, and we struggled due to extreme foot and leg swelling. Then we got to check in area after being rushed and the staff were extremely rude and slow. It took nearly 30 minutes to get through there and there was only around 20 people trying go through security. After being shouted at, we were then told the plane is waiting again but then we were told "its ok, we will wait for you". Then we were given an EBOLA outbreak sheet during the flight.. say no more. So unbelievably unprofessional, poor communication skills, rude, I could go on and on but I think reading this, its self explanatory why I would never fly with them again. I would recommend to read the other 1 star reviews, and see how similar their experiences were. Save your time and money and go with another airline. Very disappointed.

Our experience with Air India was so poor that it nearly ruined what should have been an amazing holiday flights delay inbound and outbound poor staff on the plane and at the connecting airport delayed over 3 hrs on the return flight but the transcript says 2hrs28mins even though it was longer nearly missed the connecting flight going outbound when we reached India we were shouted at and pushed to the gate saying we are going to miss the flight staff were rude and physically pushing us towards the gate direction then shouting at us telling us to run as the plane is ready to take off when we reached the gate security we were then stood there for over 30mins to get through when there was only about 10 people there.at security it felt very 2 way people of other ethnicity were allowed to go infront of us while we had to wait at the back this made us feel very uncomfortable and singled out its safe to say that this totally ruined the start of our holiday. on the return flight the flight from Thailand to India was fine its a shame the same cant be said for the flight from India to London. again when we reached India the staff were extremely rude when going through security which had the same implications as the first time we were there when finally on the plane it was in poor condition and not very well maintained. the plane taxed to the runway where we sat for over an hour to then be told the plane doesn't have enough fule and we had to go back to the terminal so the plane coukd re fule. the plane was delayed for over 3 hrs in this time no refreshments were offered we were all told to remain seated and we couldn't use any electronics I personally got yelled at by staff when wanting to go to the toilet due to poor in-flight food on the first flight. its safe to say that if it wasn't for thailand being the outstanding place it is our holiday would have totally being ruined by this and to top it off when we landed in India we were handed EBOLA outbreak forms and warnings. why would anyone want to transfer and be in a county that has a EBOLA outbreak is beyond me if I had know this we would NOT have flown there. I feel as mine and my parties health were put at risk for no reason. we have had a terrible experience with these flights and will never fly with them again..

Our experience with Air India was so poor that it nearly ruined what should have been an amazing holiday to Thailand.
The problems started before we even boarded. The security staff at the airport were rude, aggressive, and completely lacking in basic customer service. Instead of helping passengers, they seemed determined to make the experience as stressful as possible.
The flights themselves were no better. We suffered delays both on the outbound and return journeys. The return flight from Thailand was delayed by over three hours because the aircraft apparently required additional fuel. After a long holiday and a tiring journey home, being left waiting for hours due to poor planning was incredibly frustrating.
The onboard experience was equally disappointing. The food was among the worst airline food I've ever had, the aircraft felt unclean and poorly maintained, and overall standards of hygiene were far below what I would expect from an international airline. The cabin environment felt tired, neglected, and uncomfortable throughout the journey.
What makes it worse is that these weren't isolated issues. Delays, poor service, lack of communication, bad food, and an unhygienic aircraft combined to create a consistently awful experience from start to finish.
The only saving grace of this trip was Thailand itself, which was absolutely incredible. Had it not been for how amazing the destination was, Air India would have completely overshadowed the holiday for all the wrong reasons.
I have flown with many airlines over the years and can honestly say this was one of the worst travel experiences I've ever had. I will never choose Air India again and would strongly advise others to look elsewhere if they want a stress-free start and end to their holiday.

Due to our age we had booked Premium Economy flight from London to Delhi on Air India leaving on 18 January and returning on 18 March this year. It was an appalling experience with no priority luggage handling at either end, totally inedible food on the return journey and we even got charged for booking our seats at the time of check-in on return flight. I raised a complaint with their 'nodalofficer' and then with the 'appelateauthority' but it seemed to be all blocked by 'customercare' team full of excuses and no resolution.
It is time for their management to take notice otherwise I do not see that I can justify paying twice the fare of 'economy' for no change in service standard.
Being India we like to travel by Air India but that may change if the management does not pull their finger out.

I had originally booked a flight with Kuwait airlines because of the crisis in the gulf, the flight was cancelled, so had to look around, found this Air India flight to the Philippines, it was traveling on the same dates I wanted etc, I was slightly concerned booking with Air India, they haven't got a good reputation regarding sticking to schedules' etc, anyway I arrive at Heathrow and checked in, went to my gate to board the flight, and there was a delay, and a route change as well, the flight from Heathrow to Delhi took off 45mins late, and with the route change I was regretting booking this flight, Arrived late in Delhi, went to Security there was only 2 security gates open for security checks, and my god they were bloody slow, I had Air India staff telling passenger's to hurry up coz they might miss there connecting flight, I thought hang on, it's your bloody flight thats made us late you clowns! anyway We made the flight to Manila, and when we touched down the Pilot had to go round again to land, I thought you can't make this up, after for weeks in manila I got back to manila Airport for my return flight on the 4th June 2026, this is where the fun and games started, my flight was originally booked for 22.55, I then discovered via whatsapp that the flight had been rescheduled to leave at 02.45 in the morning, that time went by, I then got another whatsapp message saying the flight now would take off until 03.15 in the morning, I went to the check in que and waited,and waited, and Air India que that was very slow and bloody annoying, the staff at check-in apologised and said thanx for waiting, I replied with, TBH I haven't any choice, what can I do? and I also said I'm never flying with Air India again after this, as I went to gate one to wait to board I was told it's not gate one, even though it said gate one on the boarding pass, all passengers had to leave gate one and wait, after and hour of so we found out it was gate 14, went to gate 14, boarding time came and went coz the aircraft hadn't turned up from Delhi yet, after it arrived we had another wait, also while waiting the AC was bloody cold, alot of passengers had coats on, including myself, some guys had beanie hats on it was that cold, we were told boarding would start at 03.45 etc, boarded aircraft started getting pushed back etc, on the way to the runway our flight got stuck in a pot hole, the pilot had to turn the engines off and get a tug to pull the aircraft out of the pothole,by the time the flight got airborne we were 5hrs late, and I wasn't a happy man, we arrived in Delhi late, I had to have a new boarding pass because my original flight from Delhi to Heathrow had been cancelled, and flight had been rescheduled, I was supposed to arrive in the UK at 12.35, I was told by Air India that this time would be my departure time from Delhi, arriving in the UK at 18.36 in the evening, 5hrs late, overall my experience flying with Air India has been shocking! this was my 1st time flying with them , and I can Guarantee I will never fly Air India again, even if They offered the cheapest flights in the world I wouldn't bother, the service stinks and the food on board was absolutely disgusting! If your flying to India and you have no choice and you gotta fly with these clowns, then go ahead, otherwise don't bother flying with them, there unreliable, and I can understand why the Airline is losing millions of pounds aweek, save yourself the hassle, book with someone else.
Inflight entertainment was not working…
Inflight entertainment was not working on both 12 hours flights over and back). This meant the light and call bell we’re also not working on. Cabin crew seemed not to care about this and just shrugged it off.
Large bags were left on spare seats and not stowed away. I pointed this out to crew but the bags left on the seats.
I will NEVER fly with this airline again.

This is one of the Airline you should avoid at all cost. i was reading the previous reviews about flight delay and rude staffs etc which my dad who is old has to go through. Along with this the airline and staffs are preying on vulnurable old people through organised crime! My dad was travelling from Newyork,USA to Kochi Via Mumbai. He had a hand baggage with few family well wishers gave some dollars as cash to my dad as my brother is bedridden for many years due to an accident. These airline staffs, when he was about to board the Plane from Mumbai to Kochi, took the hand baggage and told that he will receive the hand bag along with the checked in baggage in Kochi. They took the cash and put a baggage tag on a similar bag and sent it to kochi during the travel. When he landed in kochi,he told them about the wrong bag on the baggage conveyor belt but with his name on the baggage tag. They made him fill the lost baggage claim form etc and their way of dealing was totally appauling. After long emails and conversations with them, they said the lost item things are dealt with 'Adani Group'. Then after many enquiries so called Adani group staff said they got the cash, we send some family friend with the authorisation letter as per their request. Still no result. The air india says its adani group whois dealing, the adani group says its airindias fault. The distress my parents have to go through at this old age was too much. Till now nothing has been done. First, the said the 45 days have passed and the cash has been transferred to finance department while it was not at all 45days. Then when our guy with the authorisation letter went there (Adani group) another time, they said the person who is dealing with this is in Hospital! Is the money kept in his personal Locker! AVOID AT ALL COST. NOT WORTH TRAVELLING ON THIS AIRLINE!
Extremely disappointed with services
I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience with Air India and the way my complaint was handled.
My flight from Delhi to London was significantly delayed(more then 2 hours ), and during the disruption I informed the onboard supervisor that I was feeling unwell and requested assistance. Instead of receiving support, I felt dismissed and was refused proper help at a time when passenger welfare should have been a priority.
What made the situation worse was the complaint process that followed. Despite providing detailed information several times, I repeatedly received responses requesting information that had already been supplied. Air India focused solely on debating the length of the delay while failing to adequately address my concerns regarding passenger health and safety.
After months of correspondence, the airline ultimately concluded that no compensation was due because the delay was attributed to "operational reasons" and maintained that their policies did not apply. My concerns about the handling of a passenger reporting illness were never properly investigated or addressed.
Delays can happen with any airline, but how a company treats its customers during difficult situations is what truly matters. Unfortunately, I found both the onboard experience and the customer service response disappointing, defensive, and lacking accountability.
I expected better from a national carrier and cannot recommend Air India based on this experience.
Worst Airline Customer support ever
Worst Airline Customer support ever, I shall never fly with them again. After providing them all the evidence and asking the case (39169503) to be escalated as well as requesting the email of the CEO and Opperational VP still no joy.
This was my first family trip with my wife and son to India.
Unfortunately the trip back home on the last leg of the journey ( Mumbia to London Heathrow) was a total disappointment.
Issue 1- Having pre-reserved seat for all 3 with extra leg room on the long journey home. When boarding the plane we found that the Boarding pass did not correspond with the EMDR.
I spoke to the Stewardess and then to the Ground Crew Manger ( who was overseeing a number of complaints )and he stated that "there was a change of plane and a refund would be sent to your account"
Could I please have a full refund of £40.80 x 3= £122.40
Issue 2- The plane from Mumbai to London Heathrow should be taken out of service. it is a disgrace .....
please see the photos on our arm seats broken and ear phone could not be plugged in) and the entertainment screens were not working. Additionally I can also supply the Phone charging point broken on 2 out of 3 seats. The food tray kept on falling down and the Ground crew was called to do running repairs and left as the Captain asked them to leave, but they ( 2 men with 1 small screw driver) were 10 min trying to keep the tray up and fixed. This was clearly a Health and Safety issue.
The toilets were also in a bad state as your staff did not monitor them as part of their job.
How can you expect us to sit in such bad conditions.
I shall be raising this to your CEO and your Operational Directors as this is a huge Health and Safety concern.
Issue 3- My son suitcase £80( Brand new first trip )weight 15 Kg with clothes had the wheel socket wrenched out and can be never used again.
We found the suitcase on the side of the belt even though we were the first to arrive at the belt. We have logged the complaint through the proper channel at the airport and on line. Ref of damage claim no-

This has been one of the worst / most stressful trips back home after traveling all over the world on 4-6 trips a year over our 60 year period.
We will never book with Air India as the quality of service and the quality of the plane does not match with other Airlines. I will be letting all my friends on the quality of the planes that you have provided.
Our misfortune was to book with Air India during the Middle East war and going to India for a funeral was a last resort. .. really ruined our trip.

First they cancelled only the flight Delhi to Kuala lumpur. One day later, they issued a new e-ticket with a 37hours stopover in Delhi. I asked for an airport hotel. They said that they are not responsible for the airport hotel. I cancelled my whole vacation.

I would like to make a complaint about two cabin crew members on my recent flight.
One crew member, whose name I believe was Priyanshi (although I am not completely certain), responded negatively when I politely asked for some water. She said "OK" with an unhappy expression and walked away, but never returned with the water.
Another crew member, named Ali, behaved in a similar manner. I asked him for tonic water, but he did not bring it to me. His attitude appeared unfriendly and he seemed irritated during our interaction.
I was disappointed by the service provided by both crew members. Their behaviour came across as unprofessional and made me feel that my requests were being ignored. As a passenger, I expect to be treated with courtesy and to receive reasonable service when making simple requests.
I would appreciate it if this matter could be investigated and addressed.

as we were waiting inside the plane for hours they cancelled the flight (technical issues). My flight was postponed 3 days later on Lufthansa .... Despite multiple requests : no apologies, no refund, no compensation. Awful customer service.

Do not get patriotic while booking your flight. Air India has no hopes it is the most unfriendly airline for travellers with disability, specially if they are travelling without attendant. Air India does not have enough staff & wheelchairs to help you out . Customer care is equally useless. You might have to search for a porter at the airport even after booking wheel chair service from the airlines.They are using buses which do not have a provision to transport a wheelchair so you will be carried in a vintage truck with hydrolic ramp to the aircraft ! It is fun though 😂
Flight cancellation; no reimbursement -- Disorganized, time-consuming, unfair
This is a rating for one issue not a general review of the airline. I requested reimbursement for a hotel -- it was only $18 -- because I had to stay over an extra night in a city due to multiple flight cancellations and delays on the part of Air India -- which were no fault of my own.
I went through the laborious process of submitting the receipts and making the requests. They sent me follow up emails assuring me the matter was under review. Then all of a sudden, they told me I had two cases open for the same issue and they would close one of them.
I understand that a duplicate case should be closed, but they must have closed both cases, thus never resolving the query.
I followed up and they sent me back a form letter saying the matter is resolved and there will be no compensation.
Very disorganized, time-consuming, and ultimately entirely unfair.
