I am currently confused on what are my options to solve a situation I am currently in besides going to court (this will be the last thing I do if nothing else will work).
I used AirWallex to process payments on my store. I successfully processed several thousand euro without any issues (and this is a legit, whitehat product, by the way), but suddenly AirWallex decided to stop working with me.
This would be fine, because those are their rights, however, the problem is that they are holding over 5000 euro from my rightfully earned money and are giving almost no responses regarding that at all.
This activity is illegal, because under applicable EU and national law, Airwallex does not have the right to withhold my funds indefinitely without justification or communication.
Under the EU Payment Services Directive (PSD2 – Directive (EU) 2015/2366) and its national implementations (including the Law on Payment Services and Electronic Money), payment and electronic money institutions are required to safeguard customer funds and make them available to the rightful owner. Funds received from legitimate transactions remain the legal property of the merchant and cannot be held permanently without lawful grounds, clear explanation, and proportional timelines.
By withholding over €5,000 of my legitimately earned funds without providing a valid legal basis or meaningful response, Airwallex is acting in breach of its regulatory obligations. The money belongs to me, and Airwallex has a duty to release it or clearly justify any temporary restriction under applicable law.

I've loved the Airwallex platform for years now. The fx rates are always competitive, it's easy to use and this week when I needed tech support they were super responsive even by email.

Like many others we are stuck with our account suspended for no given reason.
At first Airwallex operated quite well for us, we did have some payments stuck but after RFIs and explanations they cleared relatively quickly. The multi currency support was excellent for our business as we expanded and operate globally.
We are now stuck with a significant amount of capital frozen. No clear reason, no timelines and nothing else. Contacting support hasn't helped at all as they only reply with the revolving form answers that they are working on it. It's horrifying that I've come here to see it's happening quite often to multiple other companies and all very recent. It was no surprise to see it was in recent Hong Kong news that an influencer is suing them for freezing HKD 1.3M in funds.
I understand that there is compliance especially around AML, but even traditional banks provide a reason for any frozen funds. I think their internal process is broken and needs looking at.
Be very careful if you're considering Airwallex as your main operating bank account for your business!
I see Airwallex replies to these reviews, but if you're just going to ask me to contact support, please don't bother as that's all I do and it doesn't help.

It’s the worst bussines solutions, they are slow, they blocking transactions, they provide replies about financial transactions during 3-4 days ( out days it’s unacceptable) : only reply -not the solution.
If you have other alternatives-use other platforms . Airwallex -is cowboy farm with mediocre level of service, with high service expenses.

My company is based in Cyprus, and when I tried to join it showed me paid plans. My friend signed up at least a month after I did, and was able to sign up using a free plan.
They don't really care about customers.

If I could gave a zero, I'de have done it.
This platform is a scam. I activated the Cards payment and sent the link to my clients.
Two payment were made and the day when the funds should be credited on my account, the bloqued my funds an I received an email telling me that the funds will be frozen for 180 days based on our general policy bla bla bla.
I provided all the details of the payment and even the buyer accepted to share their card detalis with me to present them to airwallex.
They didn't try to understand, they maintained their decision.
Theses thiefs will use our money to work and give it back -not sure- after six months.

An update...
I am not getting the money back, 30k....
They did not contact me for weeks, then we had one call, they said they would investigate (would take a month) then got a email from a offshore team member, generic email saying we have looked into it, you won't receive your money back. The WORST experience I have ever had. I am beyond shocked that companies like this still exist. Taking this further.
It was the fastest procedure to confirm DBA names

Have emailed their support who are useless and hide behind their terms and conditions.hopeless situation and I have had to take the matter up with AFCA.
I have never violated any of their terms and conditions, I just run a small family business and used there banking for normal business banking purposes.
Went to get fuel one day and pay with their debit card and that was how I found out they have frozen our funds. Customer support said (a month after emailing them) they are not required to discuss anything with me and our Accounts and are "off boarding" via the kyc system (whatever that is)??? worst banking relationship ever. Seriously Avoid at all costs.

Accepts payments behalf of offshore gambling companies through fraudulent front companies by masking MCC codes and thus also enabeling money laundering.

After several months of using Airwallex, all of my payment gateways were suddenly suspended without any clear explanation. I was informed by email that I could no longer use their services, despite having done nothing that was communicated to me as a violation.
Before launching my product and running ads, I responsibly tested the card payment gateway using my own credit and debit cards to ensure everything worked properly. During this process, my debit card kept getting blocked by Airwallex. I contacted their support team multiple times to understand why this was happening and to resolve the issue.
Instead of providing support or clarification, Airwallex abruptly suspended all of my payment gateways entirely. No proper reason was given, and my follow-up requests for an explanation were ignored or avoided. This left my business unable to accept payments and caused unnecessary disruption and loss of time.
For a financial services provider, this level of communication and lack of transparency is extremely disappointing. Businesses rely on stable payment infrastructure and clear support, neither of which I experienced here. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Airwallex to anyone who needs reliability and professional customer service

I am extremely disappointed with Airwallex. I applied for a business account for my UK company and provided all the necessary legal documents and information. Out of nowhere, I received a generic 'Account activation rejected' status stating their decision is final—without providing a single reason or explanation.
As a new business owner, I find this level of communication completely unacceptable. They don't even give you a chance to clarify or understand what went wrong. It is a total waste of time to deal with a company that hides behind 'final decisions' without offering any feedback or support. If you value your time and expect professional transparency, look elsewhere. Highly unprofessional.
