Do not book through them!

I made a booking in September for an event tomorrow 28th November. It turns out no such booking exists!!!! The hotel is now fully booked. I’m fuming and very upset!
What do you think my chances are of getting a refund?

SHOULD GET 0 STARS -DO NOT USE

Wish I could give them 0 stars and also wish I’d checked this before I booked. As others have said I followed the link from Trivago and booked 2 nights at Holiday Inn Liverpool city centre and paid in full. On turning up we found to our dismay we had no booking - not only that we were beside another couple in the same boat and receptionist said she’d had 5 other parties that week already. The photos ALGOTELS are using are fake. They advised me to contact my credit card company which I did and they immediately cancelled my card leaving us with no way to pay for another room. We actually walked round other hotels as we were terrified to trust Trivago again incase the links were dodgy so a family member had to phone and pay on their card. I got in touch with them right away but like others said they didn’t want to know. I contacted ALGOTELS and to be fair they replied and I have received my money back but no explanation or apology infact their reply said THEY’D cancelled my booking 😳. Will never use them again and I’m not sure I trust Trivago despite Mr Kloss singing their praises !!!!

Very bad experience and had to pay double

Unfortunately, my experience with Algotels was extremely disappointing and feels very much like a scam.

I booked a fully prepaid stay in June for the Hotel de Rome in Berlin. A few weeks before the trip, Algotels informed me that the hotel was “closed” and moved the booking to the Hotel Adlon Kempinski — again confirming in writing that everything was paid in full.
When checking out at the Adlon, however, my wife was told that no payment had ever been received from Algotels. Despite showing all confirmations, she was forced to pay the full amount again, including city tax. In other words: we paid twice for the same stay.

Since then, the company has refused to provide a proper refund, offering only a useless voucher. Weeks of emails resulted in nothing but generic answers blaming a “partner,” and no one takes responsibility.

This is unacceptable business practice.
What we experienced was:
Prepaid hotel never paid by the agency
Forced to pay again at checkout
No real customer support
No refund of the original payment
I strongly advise others to stay away from this company.

Book directly with the hotel or a reliable agency. This experience caused a lot of stress and unnecessary cost — and should not happen to anyone else.

Terrible "Customer Service"

We made reservations six months in advance. Two weeks in advance we needed to cancel the first night of the stay. Getting in touch with customer "service" was a chore. It had to be via chat or email. They promised to reply within 48 hrs but did not. We tried multiple times to get through. No reply. Finally, two days ahead of the date, we received message confirming the original arrival date. We finally got to speak to a live agent who apologized but said they could not refund the cancelled night.

Use Algotel at your own risk!!!

If you enjoy reading template emails, you'll love Algotels.

In a word - awful.

In more than one word, I'll tell you my full experience with Algotels. Strap yourself in.

I had a holiday booked to Amsterdam and used Algotels.com to find the best rate for accomodation - not that it makes a difference, but the hotel was an Ibis, fantastic, would rate it highly. We arrive in the Netherlands and check into our room both thinking "Bit small isn't it?" but alas, enjoyed day one of the holiday and spent the first night in there.

Cut to day 2. Out of curiosity I ask reception staff whether we've been placed in the correct room to which they reveal that we haven't, and that the booking is for that room type. I'm advised to get in touch with the company that I booked with, so I do. I email their support, and receive a call shortly after from a lady named "Irish" who is going to do everything that she can to resolve this issue and definitely keep me updated through emails (She did not, if the tone wasn't clear) - an hour passes, I call again, I explain everything that I told "Irish" to a gentleman named "Gerrard" who, again, assures me that he'll do everything in his power to resolve this issue (He also didn't, again, if the tone isn't clear).

I remain in contact with Algotels.com through the holiday, without letting it become too much of a distraction, as the room was sufficient to sleep in after a fun day in the Netherlands. Upon returning home though, I continued to request at least some kind of acknowledgement that a mistake had been made, and to recoup a refund for the room type not being as described.

This is the point where the story gets fun. Algotels.com begin to gaslight, divert, and even outright lie in emails to me about room dimensions. If I had to explain it once that you can't judge a room size by a photo, which they seemed adamant they could do, I'd have done so 30 times over. So Algotels.com aren't budging, that's when I get in contact with the hotel.

Are you still there? The story gets good here. I contacted the staff at the Ibis that I'd stayed in, who shared with me a screenshot of their booking reservation system, complete with the room type that was booked, the rate that it was booked at, and the company used to facilitate the booking (Agoda).

Then it clicked, and my theory came to light. Algotels.com know full well that they're in the wrong, as the booking was clearly not made for the correct room type, so the theory is simple. Whatever you're inputting into their "booking" platform is thrown away - you'll still be charged the same as what you select though.

So my warning is clear, you run an incredible risk booking anything with this platform.

You will not receive your money back from this company.
You will not receive anything but the same template emails regardless of how much effort you put into your outgoing messages.
You will get absolutely nowhere on the phone with them.
You will be told that your query is passed to the "retentions department" who do not contact you.
You will be told that Algotels.com use something called "Hollisto" (A parent company) to do their booking.
You will be lied to.

So with all that in mind, still reckon it's worth the risk?

Booked 2 nights at DoubleTree in Austin…

Booked 2 nights at DoubleTree in Austin through Algotels (via Trivago). We arrived to check in and were turned away due to the hotel being overbooked.
We had to make other arrangements for lodging and I notified Algotels immediately. They are not responsive to me regarding a refund - yet they did respond extensively to my credit card company regarding my disputed charges. It is amazing that this company still is platformed through Trivago, in spite of these terrible reviews of their poor poor customer service. Trivago has not been helpful. I am still having to fight with them and my credit card company. NEVER AGAIN will I use Algotels or (Trivago for that matter)

Do not book!!

Do not book!!! We booked a room and then turned up at the hotel and the booking didn’t exist! The customer service on the phone was awful, hung up on me multiple times and did not help. The lovely lady at reception at the hotel looked into it for us and found we were actually booked at a different hotel so luckily we still ended up with a room. But terrible customer service and does not book at the right hotel.

Stay away, fraudulent company

Booked a hotel room for 1 night, called the hotel to confirm booking and it didn’t exist. After calling algotels customer service multiple times over a number of weeks they kept giving me different reservation numbers all of which the hotel didn’t recognise. No refund given even though they provided nothing

a rare positive review?

I see all of the negative reviews and it looks like some people have definately had sketchy service from them. Having said that, we were able to get a very good rate and the booking went as planned.

Wrong date came back for booking, Couldn't tranfer

Hi, I had a booking mistake that was cancelled last week due to wrong date that I'm unsure why it came through as a Sunday the 2nd of November instead of the Saturday 1st of November staying at The Holiday Inn at St Mary's. I arrived and they informed me that the booking was for the next night, I paid for the Saturday, and I advised them I wasn't in town for the Sunday night. I sent an email back to Algotels to see if I could cancel as it went through for the wrong date. Now was told to pay by CC to talk to a highly experienced team member. Not willing to hand over my CC number just in case

DO NOT USE ALGOTELS

DO NOT USE ALGOTELS! Will not refund! We booked a room through them as a third party, the ammenities that were on the booking were unavailable but not noted or updated on their site and they're refusing a refund. I've been going back and forth with algotels and the hotel for 3 weeks with no resolution. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! 10/10 don't recommend!

AVOID They booked the wrong hotel, absolutely appalling customer service

Booked on trivago book and go site, got confirmation for the hotel I had searched for, in Salisbury, all correct, immediately, on the trivago website. A few minutes later I got a confirmation from Algotels, for a similarly named hotel, but in Barnard Castle, 300 miles away. Have spent nearly 2 weeks of repeated (mostly ignored) emails to both Algotels and Trivago, and several phone calls (I think to a premium number) to get it sorted, and when I log in to Algotels it still shows the wrong hotel. Trivago keep telling me they can't do anything. In the end I contacted the hotel directly and have sorted a reservation. Absolute charlatans.

Breach of UK Consumer Law – Service Not Provided and Refund Denied

I booked a stay from August 11th to 17th 2025 for my honeymoon through Algotels.

Due to a force majeure event — fully justified and documented — I was unable to travel and therefore did not consume the service. Despite this, Algotels has refused to refund me, claiming that an undisclosed third party they used (without my knowledge or authorisation) “declined” the refund.

This behaviour raises serious concerns under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, as they are the contracting party responsible for delivering or refunding the service that was never provided. Passing responsibility to an unknown third party is both unlawful and unethical.

In addition, Algotels appears to have shared my personal data with a third party without consent, which could amount to a GDPR violation.

After weeks of emails, no solution was provided. I have now started legal action and notified UK Trading Standards.

Travellers: please be extremely cautious when booking with Algotels. Their lack of transparency, misuse of third parties, and disregard for consumer and data-protection laws are unacceptable.

It was a scam

It was a scam, I was so excited to have a great hotel in New York City at an affordable price. We go into the hotel just for them to say the booking doesn't even exist and that they never even take bookings from algotels and its fake! I wish I had known better, I did this throught Trivago which I thought was a trusted website but I guess you have to be careful what company you choose from when using Trivago as well.

Sadly a terrible third-party company

Sadly, I used them recently to book a few hotels. I really regret this. Completely incompetent staff and they provide the wrong information. When I asked to be escalated to a member of senior management, even the senior member was unable to rectify the issue. The senior has self also provided contradicting and conflicting information to that which her staff had provided and decided that she didn’t want to acknowledge the mistake on behalf of her staff and instead played with her words very carefully just so that the blame does not go on her staff.

Booking was made in error to the wrong city Hotel and they are claiming that as the booking was confirmed by the hotel already, they would need to liaise with the hotel and it would be their discretion to provide me a refund. After having contacted the hotel directly myself, they confirmed there was no booking confirmed and my credit card provider has also confirmed no payment has come out. Companies like this sadly fabricate information as they wish to keep every penny possible. Appreciate that’s a nonrefundable rate but would have thought there is a level of customer service involved here where a customer has made a genuine error and book the wrong city so an amendment can be made.

Teaches me to just book directly with the hotel, even if it slightly more expensive or with a reputable company such as Booking.com or Expedia, as these guys have been a complete nightmare.

I’ve been dealing with the lady by the name Emerli
