John is an exceptional agile coach. His passion for all things agile is infectious. I’ve had the pleasure of both working with John professionally, as well as receiving personal coaching. I can’t recommend John enough, and hope some day to get the opportunity to work with him again.

I have worked with John for over 6 months and for the past 3 have been coached as a Scrum Master. John uses Clean Language and has provided support at every step of the journey to allow for introspection of my own learnings and areas for improvement.
More recently he has also supported me and provided a framework for passing PSMI and is encouraging me to work towards PSMII. He provides real insight into what should be expected when undertaking the exams and has offered invaluable tips on how best to plan for, and achieve, certification.

I came to know John through the Agile Community on LinkedIn. Through that I attended his and Ryan Brooks’ brain child ‘Scrum Lake’ - an interactive workshop with powerful use of metaphor to dive deep into Scrum and explore with like minded agilists. These proved invaluable for me and led to John being my coach and mentor. In a short time John helped me uncover, with the use of clean language coaching what I wanted next in my Agile journey. So far, I’ve left a job and started a new position in an entirely different industry and in between he encouraged me to undertake some certification and supported me while I did my PSM I and PSM II. As a Scrum Master coaching teams, it feels essential for me to have a coach in the same way a counsellor would a supervisor. John is a good listener, easy to talk to, a deep thinker, self aware and empathetic. He uses a mix of clean language coaching, mentoring and teaching. All these attributes and techniques combined make him an excellent coach full of integrity. I look forward to our sessions and can’t recommend him enough.

I found my coaching experience with John to be hugely beneficial. Before beginning, he clearly stated what coaching was and what it wasn't. He minimized all distractions and made me his focus. With his use of the Clean Language technique he listened intently, took notes, and repeated back his understanding so that I was able to better understand my own problem and start seeing actions that I could take myself. Additionally, at the end of my session, he changed his stance from coaching to teaching upon my request.

I highly recommend John as a coach. His approachability along with his honesty played a large role in his effectiveness. I have no hesitation in providing him with a 5-star review.

John has just coached / mentored me in prepping for my PSM 1 exam. John’s preparation techniques and methodology worked for me and I was delighted when I passed my exam. John has a very professional approach and his knowledge and deep understanding of Agile shine through every time you interact with him.

With my HR background, translating Scrum theory into my every day world of work didn’t come naturally to me, however John’s coaching style gave me the clarity to recognise where and how the application of Scrum can be recognised in what I do.

John has a very relaxed style, it is like discussing an idea with a friend. John makes you very comfortable in exploring your idea and challenging your own preconceptions, which is an invaluable skill when all too often businesses get fixated on their first idea.

We arrived at an iteration much better than the original idea and we will definitely keep in touch for further refinements.

I just passed the PSM1 assessment, I'm very excited and grateful to John for coaching and guiding me through the process. I had one hour per week coaching sessions with John over 7 weeks. During which he helped me to achieve my goal, John provided me with helpful resources, showed flexibility with time arrangements to work with me as I had a new baby within those 7 weeks.
John is so kind that he encouraged me to contact him anytime I have questions, so his coaching time wasn't only limited to the formal meetings.

I worked with John whilst preparing for the PSPO I exam. I had 3 hour sessions with John which were thoroughly engaging and eye opening as I discovered things about me I didn’t realise. John is incredibly passionate and knowledgable about all things agile and scrum which is very infectious. Coaching / mentoring sessions with John will really help identify what it is you are looking for or to help you achieve scrum professional recognition. I passed my PSPO exam with the mentoring provided by John.
