Incompetence. Online Bank Can't Run a Website

Problems logging in even though using the right password and had enabled a numeric pass code years ago. 07/29/2025 On the phone with Ally for more than 1 and 3/4 hours. Despite all the multiple verifications she was decades off about how long I've been a customer. Two different Tech support couldn't resolve. The second gave up and disconnected the call. Not the first time. Finally able to log in today 07/30; obviously they fixed what was messed up. Now can't get back on. Ally saw that I moved funds to another bank so they locked me out. Will be filing a complaint with the New York State Department of Banking and Insurance.

Deceitful

I was with ally bank for 11 years and I have never seen a company treat a customer like this? Ally Bank was so proud to report my 1 payment that I missed and it wasn't even my fault.

I wrote to the ally bank main office about this payment and no reply at all. Straight up nothing.

So I moved all but $200.0 out of this place and deleted my 1 car loan payment that was deducted from my account every month. So ally bank tried twice to pull money (knowing I was leaving this hideous bank) from my checking account knowing I only had 200.00 in case I needed money until the funds went into my new bank account.

This place is full of inconsiderate scum bags who lie and try to jam you up with your finances and payments, especially when you leave them.

Here is more things to consider when opening an account here. If you need any kind of information from ally bank good luck. Full of lies and they hold important information from you that you might need at anytime.

This place is corrupt and repeat saying they will send this information out and never do even though it's your information.

I would think LONG and HARD if you are looking into opening an account of anything from ally bank.

I am not saying this because of my anger towards this Ally corrupt bank. I call it like I see it.

Ally Bank is a total disaster.

I had my inheritance money deposited into an Ally account last year, and it’s been hell ever since. They locked my debit card without notice, leaving me with no access to my own funds. And trying to reach them? Good luck. Their chat support is basically a black hole.

Just last week, I disputed a charge from Amazon. No confirmation. No update. Today I finally got through to someone who told me the dispute was already “closed”—yet no one ever contacted me. Now they’re saying I might get a call “by Friday.”

Oh, and they had the nerve to slap a smiley face emoji on that message, like I’m not talking about missing money. 🙃

This bank clearly doesn’t care about communication, transparency, or customer access to funds. If you value your money, do not bank with Ally.

It started out well but soon went…

It started out well but soon went downhill. It might be fine as long as you just put money in it, but don't ask them to be like a real bank. Their website is frequently down in one area or another. Their customer service is horrible. Those alone should drive you away from this all-online bank. But it gets worse. Sometimes you can log into their site from a PC but not their app, using the SAME credentials. AND sometimes they block you from your accounts for no good reason and then make you jump through hoops (and sacrifice an hour of your time) to remove the block, and then they act like they've done you are favor, all the while acting like robots. Run, don't walk, away.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Used to be great.

Multiple customer service representatives disrespected my wife, by asking her challenging questions after being notified of her disabilities. My wife is suffering from a traumatic brain injury resulting from a motor vehicle crash. Her memory has been negatively impacted. However, because she could not immediately remember answers to a few questions, they locked her out of her account and refused to give her access to her IRA. If Ally Bank does not right this wrong immediately, we will be filing a complaint with the Federal Reserve and the Americans With Disabilities.

We have been banking with Ally Bank for approximately 20 years. They used to be a great bank to deal with. NOT ANYMORE!

This company is a total embarrassment…

This company is a total embarrassment total they have almost 400 complaints at the BBB they’re not accredited. It’s just a predatory business. I’ve been a customer there for years. I currently have an auto loan with them. I’m a 17 year cancer survivor wound up in the hospital and I was late on a payment, they jumped all over that and it was just bullying by putting all kind of crap on my credit report and I’ve paid them early every single payment for years this is absolutely ludicrous anybody that ties to do business with them your best call them first because you’re not gonna be able to get a hold of them. I tried to call them and I have to wait. Five minutes listen this pre-recorded medical alert BS that they’re trying to sell. It’s obvious this company has got a financial issue. I spent two hours on the phone today and still have yet to talk to a live person with this company. If you’re gonna do business with them look at their BBB and then try to call them. That’s all I need to say. BE FOR YOU US THEM STOP READING THOS AND TRY TO CALL THEM…..enough said

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service like the worst I have never felt so disrespected by an employee in my life. The website is abysmal and their call system is a joke. When I got ally YEARS ago they were amazing and now I wish I had gone with life Wells Fargo
I can’t wait to be done with this company forever I hope they collapse

Horrible credit card company

I paid off my balance in full in November 2024, all at once. I was rewarded for that today by learning this company closed my account with no notice or reason, which negatively affects my credit score. When I called for an explanation, the supervisor was absolutely no help, and didn't care about the affect these actions of her company will cause me. I highly advise AGAINST anyone having anything to do with this sketchy, horrible credit card company. I will be taking action against them today.

Account access is limited on weekend

Ally brings their site or site features down for maintenance excessively. Part of the appeal of online bank is 24/7 availability, but Ally cripples this by going down for maintenance most weekends. If an online bank keeps banker's hours I might as well go to a physical bank with humans to help me. Sites like Amazon and Google are almost 100% available. Why not Ally?

Ally refuses to accept responsibility for lost payment due to change of address for payment center

Ally lost a heck sent to them to reduce my auto loan from Auto Nation but Ally had changed their payment processing from a POBox to a street address and did not advise Auto Nation until a week after the check had been sent out. Once I discovered that payment had not been processed I advised Auto Naion to stop payment on first check and had them FedEx a replacement. In meantime a payment came due and Ally refused to refund finance charges of $71.00. Their

Sent me a "loyalty" offer of an extra…

Sent me a "loyalty" offer of an extra .05 interest for renewal and I called to confirm that it was was good for ten days from maturity and was told it was but when I renewed seven days later they reneged on their offer. False advertising to lure in this customer!!!! Also, Ally sent me an email to review them and when I attempted to post this review, I got message that their review page was down now and I should try again later!!!! Awful service.

Terrible Offshore CS. Stay away.

I have been with Ally for about 20 years and their service was excellent. I could call CS and they performed perfectly.
Now they have changed to an offshore call center and the experience is repeatedly awful. I plan to leave Ally soon because of this. My money is too important to leave in a band that has consistently incompetent CS.

Ally will rob you blind

There has been so much. Pain and suffering are associated with this bank. They dropped my account out of the blue. Did not see it coming. I did pull out 40,000. to make A CD somewhere else. And also, I had three CDs that were coming up within a few days of the time when they dropped me. so I didn't get the Interest that was due me. We're talking about $2000 worth. Customer service has always been a joke with them. Long wait times on the phone. I mean really long. And myself being hard hard-of-hearing. made it even worse to talk to somebody who sounded like they were from India. They lied over the last years. Always something. The telephone number that I've been using to text. and get codes. They say they don't recognize that telephone number. The only one I had with them me signing in with them, is almost nearly impossible, and I have to go through a fraud department every time I want to talk to them. I cannot tell you how relieved I am that they canceled me. It was the best thing that could ever happen to me. Now I have a bank, it's super. customer service. 24-hour help line. I didn't realize that there is other people out there who had it as bad as me. Or even worse. So if you want a headache. and a bad, bad service and company. Go to Ally

Can't even get the first part of the relationship correct.

Hubby and I tried to create a joint account with Ally and the experience was less than optimal. So much less than optimal, in fact, that we've decided to terminate our relationship. Hubby called yesterday with no result and I called today to find out that they won't talk to me. Um, it's MY identity you're having trouble validating. I suspect I know why, but your support agents lack whatever it is they'd need to be able to validate it. We're out.

Ally (MasterCard) contacted me via text…

Ally (MasterCard) contacted me via text (Ally Card Alerts) to ask if I had made a $200 charge to Apple Dot Com (not Apple.com) and to reply Y or N. I responded N (No, I did not make that purchase). Ally Card Alerts then replied: we have detected suspicious activity on your card. Please contact us at 888-366-2559. I called the phone number on the back of my card to be sure that the messages were not a scam. After about half an hour, the customer service person said she had started a fraudulent transaction file and it would be resolved within 30 days. I reviewed my entire Apple Store app charges and transactions and there had not been any $200 charge! We cancelled my card, and I had to pay a $20+ fee to have a new card expedited to me. I checked my Ally app every day to see if the charge had been removed. Not only was the $200 charge still on my account, but they had added another $200 charge with the same, “Apple Dot Com” (not titled Apple.com). I have called them every few days and was given so many excuses and then told the case was denied and no charge had been applied to my old card. That's because they transferred it and an additional $200 charge to my new replacement card. It has now been almost 2 months with no reversed charges or response. Every time I call, I get a different response. Worst credit card experience ever.

WARNING...

Today Ally bank emailed me to tell me that they closed my account. They gave me no warning and no reason. I've been a customer since 2020. I called customer service to find out why it was closed. He told me to check my business agreement. I asked him how do I access my money and he said that they will be mailing me a check via United States Postal Service for the amount in my account which he said takes about 7-10 days.

I am a current Ally Bank loan customer…

I have been an Ally Bank loan customer for two years. I financed 10,000 of a truck I purchased through their dealer services department (always on time, on autopay). I recently was laid off which coincided with depleting my savings due to financing cancer treatment that was not covered by traditional insurance. I am currently three months behind but did manage to find a new job and made a payment with the first half paycheck I received....I just received a letter that my car will be repossessed if I do not come up with three months that are due in 6 days. I never post reviews but I had to say here...I realize when you take out a loan you are committing to honoring that debt in full and on time however life does happen sometimes. Way to treat people like people Ally (sarcasm) SMH
