I had been looking for a storage facility online for hours before I came across American Plus Moving. My problems were quickly fixed once I called them. The movers and Max were both really helpful.

Worst moving experience of my life

This was the worst moving experience I've ever had. Multiple people at the company openly lied about their terms. This is a broker that connects you with an actual mover on both ends. The moving company they connected us with to pack our things was terrible as well. The lead mover showed up to our apartment and immediately demanded a bribe on the side so he wouldn't say that our move was overweight (even though American Plus told us we should overestimate our shipment in advance - we already overestimated how much weight and space we would need). After we told the mover that we were sure we would have enough space on the truck, he began to shout at my wife and argue with her.

Company Stole 2k from me

If I could give them zero stars. Run! DO NOT go with this company. They are brokers not movers. The one positive I can say that the movers that did the actual moving of my stuff were polite and responsive and none of my stuff was missing or broken.

But American Plus is complete garbage. The first thing they did was quote me a price they had no intention of honoring and knew that. They essentially wait until the last possible moment to go over your inventory so that YOU HAVE no choice but to go with them. I was quoted around $3500, the final cost came out close to $8000.

However that's not the major issue. The major issue is that they FLAT OUT STOLE $2000 from me. I had to make yet another down payment and the zelle transaction did not go through originally so an ACH payment was made. I was assured that if the zelle transaction did go through i'd receive a refund. Well I kept being assured of that till it was too late for my bank to recall the zelle transaction and once that happened they suddenly stopped answering their phones and emails and are completely unresponsive so now I have to involve legal representation.

I cannot stress this enough DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!! Once they have your money they will stop responding to you. I've dealt with moving companies before I cannot stress that they are the absolute worst and need to be put out of business.

RUN FAR AND FAST!

Do you feel that moving is not stressful enough and want to add another layer of headaches? Are you feeling too confident lately? Maybe things are just going a little too good for you, and you want to bring yourself down a notch. Well, this moving company is perfect for you!

Bottom line, save your time. Their own website says (you can look this up yourself, seriously) "whatever price we tell you will not change, come whatever may", but this is far from the case, as in the end we ended up paying a couple grand more than the original quote. And it does not matter how many times sales reps guarantee this for you, or guarantee timelines or anything, because they just fall back on "well the contract, even though it says the exact opposite of what we tell you, says we have XYZ rights." The sales reps are pushy, overbearing, and then absent as soon as they get your deposit.

Seriously, eff this company, I can't believe it's even legal what they do. Check any legitimate review sites, and once you are done sifting through the obvious fake reviews, you will find trove upon trove of horror stories exactly like mine. Save yourself the time, money, and headache, moving is difficult enough without predatory companies trying to take advantage of you.

When our stuff did finally arrive much later than quoted, most of it was damaged in some way. You spend your life buying and taking care of things, but within 1 month, this company just disregards all of that. I mean, how to lose a huge desk??? Things were straight up just missing out of our boxes. Most boxes that had glass were smashed. My vinyl records were ruined. Art supplies ruined.

Oh yeah, did I mention the company they hooked us up with had a "stop order" issued on it in the middle of our move? They either are lazy in their due diligence in who they work with, or they knowingly placed us with a company with equally as terrible reviews as American Plus. I am pretty sure I could throw a dart at the white pages and find a better moving company than the one we got.

Pretty much anyone we spoke with (when we could even get a hold of any body) was rude, unprofessional, or acting like you're the bad guy because all of your worldly possessions are in their hands and you aren't sure if you'll ever receive them. My guess is that they get yelled at every day because their poor service and business model is so terrible, that they've just become jaded.

My only hope is that someone sees this and thinks twice before being exploited, because this is exactly what this company will do. They'll quote you a price, and then when the movers show (probably some schlubby movers they booked off craigslist in a rented truck that will double the price before even loading a single thing, and you're in a tight spot because you have to be out of your apartment or house).

Had to file a police report against them for scamming

I filed a police report, had my bank do a charge back on my deposit bc they refused a refund. Here is what happened: They showed up late were super rude to the point of threatening and harassment. rattled by their stick-up robbery type of intimidation tactics with me I looked them up online and found out about their scam tactics (more later in my post). So when they arrived, before letting them load my items (That were agreed upon for the move in the contract) I asked if there would be extra charges. The reviews revealed their scam: that they load your belongings and then demand more $$$ (often thousands more) and if you don't pay the ransom money they demand they dump your items on the street or hold it ransom at a 'storage' with even more fees. So bc I insisted to know any extra charges before loading, they 1. first said they would take pics and tell me before loading if there were extra charges. However, realizing I was not an easy target for their scam they 2. then just took off! NO SERVICES RENDERED. When I called them (Gaby) they said there would be NO REFUND and continued their verbal abuse and harassment. Then they said they MIGHT send another truck in 2 days or perhaps 2 weeks! Clearly they are greedy and beyond pocketing my deposit that they said they would not refund despite services not rendered, they wanted the rest of my items to continue their scam. About an hour later they called, screamed into my VM to pick up the phone. At this point I knew better than be subjected to more verbal abuse, intimidation, harassment and bullying they heaved upon me and wanted everything in writing (email or text). Shortly thereafter Gaby (presumably the owner of this fraudulent outfit called American Plus Moving) texted that she would not send a truck at all and that my hefty deposit would not be refunded even though they did not render services. Apparently she decided not to send another truck bc I was not an easy target and wanted their scam documented in text or email. So she (Gaby) canceled the second truck. Meanwhile I called my bank who advised me to file a police report against them, which I did. LAPD heard what transpired, asked detailed questions and found ample cause to write a police report against American Movers Plus and their carriers Cheetah Movers. Getting the authorities involved was a wise decision. Do not try to argue or reason with scammers and abusers. They will only abuse or scam you more. (I can write more details but the review is getting too long) BTW, RED FLAG they do not take credit care or debit for the deposit. They insist payment be made via your bank routing and account number! Later realized they do this so it is harder for victims of their scams to get their money back as with credit or debit you can more easily dispute the scammers for their fraudulent conduct.
I did get my money back bc my bankers astutely did a 'Draft Adjustment' American Plus Movers threatened me further once they found out my bank had the ability to do the Draft Adjustment to get back my deposit that they had obtains via a 'bait and switch' scheme. But, once I mentioned the LAPD police report they backed off, but not without more abuse. I count myself LUCKY bc I did not let them LOAD my belongings before getting assurance of no extra charges or a quote of exact amounts they wanted to extract from me. Dozens of reviews show that they count on clients to allow items to be loaded on their trucks and then they got you. Some reviewers said when they refused to pay the ransom American Plus demanded they just dumped all of her items on the street; other said their items arrived but many weeks later at the destination, burglarized, valuables stolen and furniture broken. Reviews also indicate that even when your items arrive, they won't unload unless you pay you even more money on top of the agreement and on top of what they had blackmailed from you at loading. So they scam you twice over. That's why they were so furiously abusive to me bc I did not let them victimize me that way. Traumatic experience to be sure to fall victim to their scam but glad I had authorities i.e.my bank and LAPD on my side to not let them get away with it. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS. Other reviewers said their few 'positive' reviews are fake and that they company keeps changing their name bc of their devastating reviews and ratings with the DOT (Department of Transportation), BBB and dismal standing with other consumer advocate groups. I wish I had read the reviews prior to giving out my account info to them and becoming vulnerable to their fraud schemes.

Horrific experience with con artists

My experience with this farce of a company has been nothing short of horrific. They were supposed to arrive to pack for my cross country move on Sept. 16, as I was flying to my new residence the next day. They never showed, and when I contacted them they casually informed me that they rescheduled the move to Saturday the 18th. This caused me to have to purchase new plane tickets and hotel stays. I was connected to, quite possibly, the rudest person I have ever met, who proceeded to harass me until I cried and hung up.

I was told by Joe Gali, repeatedly, that the move would take approximately 5 days. He even broke it down by telling me the drivers drive 400 miles a day, and my move was 2,200 miles. Today is the 5th day. I called the movers for an update and they told me they might be here by Monday the 27th. So now I have to pay for MORE hotel nights. If I factor in the plane tickets and additional hotel costs, I have paid over $2000 extra due to their lies and incompetence. At this point, they will not answer the phone. I wanted to discuss any possible compensation for their horrible service and misrepresentation. But they have become invisible. They are not to be trusted, complete con artists, and I am absolutely baffled by the amount of positive reviews. (I can only assume they are fake people being paid to write them.)

Warning: Do not use this company!!

This is the worst moving company. First, they only accept ACH payments, which means you can’t get your money back if anything goes wrong. They operate like a scam. They require a two day window for a move. Ok fine, but they only give a few hours notice before the drives are scheduled to arrive. I received an email at 7:30pm saying my drivers will arrive on Thursday 8/5 between 2-5. Even though I said I preferred Friday and I told them my building had a cut off at 4:00pm, I scrambled to be ready. The driver called me and said he was arriving at 3:30pm from Boston so I told them it would not work. Because it was impossible to finish a move in 30 minutes.

The driver said he would call dispatch to see if he could come at 8:30am the next morning. They “approved” it. 8:30am arrived and he never came. I texted and called him for an hour. No response. My elevator was reserved and I’m sure my building porters were annoyed because they had everything prepped for Thursday and then again for Friday morning. I called the company and the driver repeatedly. No one picked up, nor responded to any voicemails or texts. I found a different number online and reached Noah. He asked me to text him the job number and told me to call him back in an hour. When I did, he never answered and never responded to my texts.

They finally emailed at 1:00pm saying my driver was 20 mins away. By that time I scheduled a new appointment with Oz Moving (amazing experience and they required $50 credit card to hold the spot), and I left my apartment because I had a hotel booked since I was supposed to be moved out.

When I asked for a refund they said no because I was refusing their service. Further investigation showed that they damage furniture and boxes and the experience I had is common. I no longer trusted them to hold my furniture.

I’m out $791. They had previously requested an additional $500 but my bank doesn’t see it so I’m praying that it didn’t go through.

These people are unethical and they deserve to be put out of business.

AVOID BOOKING YOUR MOVING WITH THEM

AVOID BOOKING YOUR MOVING WITH THEM! This business is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau, and have an F rating. They are BROKERS, and they do not take responsibility with last minute cancellations. My move was scheduled between June 25th and 26th, from MI to OH. On June 25th, I finally got a call from Gabby at the end of the day, reporting that the move was not happening since they could not find anyone. I did not hear from them until June 28th, when Gabby told me that they could not find anyone for the week, and that MAYBE, the move could happen in a couple of weeks. As you can imagine, this is unacceptable, since I was already paying extra for extending my stay in MI. At the end, I moved with a U-Haul with the help of some local movers.
Now, American Plus Moving and Storage had already charged me around $1200. Since this company was unable to provide the service, I should be getting my full refund. I haven’t had my money back. Contacting their finance department is impossible, and customer service almost never answers. I finally got a reply when I left a review in the Better Business Bureau, but the company defends themselves stating the dates are only estimates. As a result, they practically stole my money. AGAIN, DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM. Take a look at all the reviews. They are either 1 star or 5 stars, which is suspicious. Multiple customers have had my same experience as you can see in the reviews. For now, I just hope this company gives me back my money.

Please take the advice of a stranger and RUN

Find a company that doesn't have polarized reviews because I can tell you the positive ones are fake. They sell hard, get your deposit, move date will come and go and then you will never see your money again. Just keep looking this isn't it and we need to hold people and companies accountable when they steal and face no consequences.

Buyers Beware

My quote was significant underquoted despite assurances from the salesman that he was including extra cubic feet to take care of me and avoid this. I ended up being charged almost double what I was quoted. They repeated pushed my pick up date back. I have called repeatedly and was informed that I would received call or email back and this has never happened. My items were picked up on June 13th with deliver between June 18th and June 23rd. It is now July 7th and I have been told that they still don't know when my items will be delivered. Again, I have called several times and never receive a straight answer.

DONT USE

I did not know this is an agency that will find a mover in your area to have them move your belongings. I was not told that up front when they took my information for down payment. Then they got Insta Movers to move my stuff and the movers were good picking up my belongings but when they came to deliver the driver did not have anyone to help unload and wanted money up front prior to unpacking, then he sat in truck for 2 hours because his truck would not start, I started to carry stuff in house and then hours later I had a few young men come to help unload and we had to "pay" them to unload because the truck driver was busy trying to find someone to start the truck. Truck driver finally started to help unload and one of the guys that came to help us was able to get the guys truck started but told him not to shut it off because he would not be able to get started. Needless to say crappy move in and my brand new washing machine lid got broke and when I contacted this company about the issue I have been totally ignored with no response. DO NOT USE THEM, contact a local mover, total rip off price went from 2800.00 to 6700.00 by time I was done.
