My husband and I purchased Castlerock outdoor furniture 7 years ago from the American Sale store in Naperville, Illinois. The furniture, on sale, was $5,000. We were hesitant to spend this much money on outdoor furniture and the Sales associate, Kelly Thomas, told us there was a lifetime warranty on the set so we purchased the furniture. Kelly is no longer employed by this company.
We cover the furniture every fall and uncover it in the spring. This year we noticed one of the swivel rockers had a completely broken seat. I contacted the Naperville store manager and was told to send an email to their customer service department - which I did the same day. I have received several responses informing me there is NOT a lifetime warranty, there is a 5 year warranty. I responded to each email stating we were told the warranty was lifetime and therefore their Sales Associate either lied to us or misrepresented the warranty to make a sale and we want what we were told honored. I obtained the CEO, Robert Jones, email address on the internet and requested he contacted me about this issue. I have included Mr. Jones on all my emails. Mr. Jones' internet profile states he cares about his customers, etc, etc. I have not received any contact from Mr. Jones. His underlings have sent emails telling me they will replace the broken seat, as a one time exception, for $117.40 and implied my husband and I were confused about the warranty. WE WERE NOT CONFUSED! We were also told the tags on the furniture stated the warranty. The furniture was delivered and set up by American Sale. We received an invoice but no tags were given to us. I just love how an unethical company tries to pull rabbits out of their hat to convince a customer they did not do their due diligence.
Please DO NOT DO BUSINESS with this company. They are unethical and have horrible and offensive customer service. Additionally, Mr. Jones should accurately reflect his lack of interest in his customers' issues on his internet profile instead of pretend he cares about them. As the saying goes, words are cheap but actions speak volumes - Mr. Jones and his minions have proven that!
