⭐ 1 star – In my experience, this company operates like a scam and tried to hijack my website.

I run a mission-driven business, not some quick cash grab. My work is about helping others and inspiring change for future generations. It already takes a lot of heart to build something like that. It takes a very special kind of person to keep pushing a scam on a business like mine after they see what it stands for.

I hired American Web Coders to help with my website. At first, they were working on a test server. That was the agreement: build on the test setup, then when everything was ready, we would push it live.

After about three months, I told them it was time to make the site live and start making changes directly on my real site.

The moment I gave them admin access to my live WordPress site, everything went downhill.

They uploaded the test site over my live site. Next time I tried to log in as admin, my access was gone. I was locked out of my own website.

When I reached out, they denied everything. They told me it was “not them,” that they “didn’t even have access” to my site, and tried to blame it on some “IP problem.” That excuse made no sense, because they were still making changes on my live site. You can’t say you don’t have access while you’re actively editing the site. That’s not confusion – that’s a lie.

Right after this, I got an email from a totally different company claiming my website had been “hacked” and offering to recover it for $500.

After doing some digging, I discovered:

- This “other” company was tied to the same people behind American Web Coders.
- When I called from a different phone number, I got the *same person* on the phone, now claiming to be from this different company.
- On top of that, American Web Coders were the ones who built that other company’s website.

So the same people who had admin access to my site, who denied responsibility while still changing my live site, were also behind the “we can recover your hacked site for $500” company — right down to building that company’s website.

To get control back, I had to completely uninstall and reinstall WordPress. American Web Coders never took responsibility for any of this.

About a year later, I tried to give them a chance to make things right.

I reached back out and had a long conversation with someone from their side. I have that conversation recorded. In that call, they promised me two things:
1) They would build my site.
2) They would refund me.

They said I would get an email and a call back to move things forward.

That never happened.

No follow-up email, no call, no refund, no finished site. Just more empty promises stacked on top of everything they had already done.

Based on my direct experience, here is what I believe:

- They abused the admin access I gave them to my live site.
- They removed my own admin access and then lied about not having access while still making live changes.
- A “hacked site recovery” company suddenly appeared, asking for $500 to fix the problem.
- That “recovery” company was connected to the same people: same voice on the phone, and American Web Coders built that company’s website too.
- A year later, they promised on a recorded call to build my site and refund me, and still never followed through.

I have reported this to the Attorney General in California.

I am a mission-driven business owner trying to build something that actually helps people. What American Web Coders did wasn’t just unprofessional in my opinion – it was predatory. I would never recommend American Web Coders to anyone.

I paid $1,947 upfront for website development, including three years of web hosting. Unfortunately, the experience was deeply disappointing. The company demonstrated a clear lack of work ethic, technical knowledge, and professionalism. The project was plagued by repeated errors, poor communication, and inconsistent management.
Despite clear terms in the contract, they refused to issue a refund or deliver even the unfinished website. They advertise a “100% satisfaction guarantee” and “100% ownership rights,” but deliver neither. Their business practices are disorganized, deceptive, and unethical. I have received nothing in return for my payment. This company operates like a scam — avoid them at all costs.

Their expertise in ecommerce website design in evident in the fantastic online store they created for us. It's user-friendly and has significantly increased our sales. American Web Coders provided us with a comprehensive solution that included seamless integration with our existing systems, ensuring a smooth transition. Their dedication to creating a top-notch ecommerce experience for our customer has been invaluable.

They take thousands of dollars from there customers put you on the internet then, TAKE YOUR WEBSITE OF THE INTERNET AFTER A FEW MONTHS AND ASK FOR THOUSANDS MORE TO KEEP YOUR WEB SITE ON INTERNET.... THEY ARE PROFESSIONAL SCAMMERS

I gave an honest review which reflected the awful experience I had with American Web Coders. They harassed me to take it down and write a positive review. I didn’t because you need to know the truth!
This company is a fraud.
They take your money, do a poor job in setting everything up, stop communicating with you, and then suspend your website for NO REASON.
They’ve had 23 reported incidents under the BBB.
Don’t use this company.

This is a nightmare. They have me paid them back in June 2022 an amount of +$ 2,000 for a website. Then they spent 6 month without doing anything , when it was ready to publish they claim that I need a dedicated server subscription with them when I refused they did not upload my website. I requested my bank to cancel the payment, this is when they publish my website and then I contacted my bank to release their payment. They claimed that they had to host my domain, so my website can work, even if I insisted that I have my own hosting service. Later on they had me paid them an extra $ 300 for maintenance that I have never got. Because I have refused additional services from them they start boycotting my domain name. Finally, I got rid of them by transferring my domain to another webhosting company. I asked them to send me the WP file for my website. It has been 2 months, they never did. They still refuse to give me my WP file that I paid more than $ 2,000 for.

I can provide the full email history with all the turnover managers,
Zach tries but its one cost after another after another.
(Months later) spent approximately $10,000.00
I can show every bill.
I have no website with no Ecomm.

I do NOT recommend American Web Coders to design and create a website for you. They are a dishonest company full of lies! I have been working with them the past 7 weeks and still I can't get simple issues fixed that should take a "so called" professional company like them only a couple minutes of there time to fix. This was supposed to be a 3 week project but now its already carrying into week 8. My Project Manager (S**** Morris) and Project Head (D**** Jones) were helpful the first 2-3 weeks but after the 3 weeks were up it looks like they took on different projects and didn't have time for me anymore even if my web design wasn't even half finished yet! Getting a hold of ***** Jones was like trying to get hold of a dead man...it simply wasn't possible. But the first three weeks when they "bated" me into giving them more money, D**** Jones was very eager to help because he saw dollar signs. This was promised to me that it wouldn't cost more than $370 USD but shortly after my first payment (after they lured me in and already having $350 of my money, which they knew I was never ever gonna get back no matter how hard I tried) I had to spend another $350 USD on hosting (which was never ever mentioned in the phone call with the sales guy that lured me into buying this package). And another $350 USD on various plugins and content which was never mentioned before either. So I started off with a $350 budget but it quickly escalated well above that. NOT OKAY TO PLAIN OUT LIE TO CUSTOMERS ABOUT THE PRICE! Describing something to S**** Morris over the phone, on text and on email was a pain in itself because I had to explain everything 10 times before she finally got what I meant. Took up a very large amount of my time which I am never gonna get back. I could go on and on with this but you get my drift...NO, I WOULD NEVER EVER HIRE AMERICAN WEB CODERS TO DESIGN A WEB SITE FOR ME AGAIN! You will do yourself a huge favour if you stay far away from these people...

She walked me through the process and really made it easy to edit and customize my site. The price was great value too! Ill be recommending their services to anybody who needs it!

This company really goes above and beyond for their clients. They created a full operational website for my company that exceeded expectations. Susan and David both made sure I was 100% satisfied with every detail along the way of the project and stayed in contact almost daily while working on it. If I did have a problem with anything at all they made sure a solution was found immediately to satisfy my needs. I will definitely continue using them for any of my website needs in the future and refer them to anyone that needs a service they provide.

American Web Coders kept their word and delivered exactly what they said! Max Powell and the team communicated consistently and effectively every step of the way! SOOOOOOO...Where do I start with Mr. Zach Anderson..This young man is truly my Angel sent from GOD I have been working with Zach Anderson for almost a year on several of my projects but has been with American Web Coders for almost two years..Zach is One Of A Kind. He has lots of patients especially dealing with me because I have very HIGH EXPECTATIONS. So with that being said i have made several changes to some of my projects.
