This review is about their recruiting process. I didn't use their services directly and I hope I never do.
One of their recruiters contacted me on LinkedIn saying I would be a good fit for the position Travel Counselor, working remotely from The Netherlands. He sent me the job offer link, where the salary was never mentioned. After I applied he said he would update me, and after weeks he still didn't. I texted him to follow up and he never replied. After a while he sends me an email with an invitation to a phone interview. I set an appointment, they send me a confirmation email and plenty of reminders days and hours before the meeting. The day and time set come and they never call me. They wasted my time. Very unprofessional and disrespectful. I then read their reviews here on Trustpilot and there you go, everything was clear. Unreliable both for candidates for job offers THAT THEY POST AND CONTACT YOU ABOUT, and both for customers. Stay away.

Amex GBT doesn't even know how to read a California driver's license. Their hold times for customer service are 30 minutes or more, you will not get a solution, and you will not get follow up. I'm kind of surprised the trip got booked at all, and will not be surprised when more information is wrong throughout it.

If I could give 0 it would be more accurate. Calling corporate Amex GBT you know it will take longer than necessary and be way more stressful than needed. If I could manage my own travel rather than use them it would be a huge improvement.

They have duplicated charging to my bank account, 1 transaction from AMEX is completed and the other one transaction from airline is pending. I called to AMEX and they asked me to send email to AMEX e-invoicing to check, but their feedback to me after 2 days just saying they didn't charged me double and asked me to check my bank. They are the travel agent supposed to provide service, but actually they just throw away my questions, AMEX hotline asked me to reach out AMEX email, AMEX email asked me to check my bank. I didn't see they provide any service.

They do not deserve a star. The amount of time lost booking a simple trip is a gross loss. I spent over 2 hours booking 2 trips between Phoenix, to LA area direct flights. Between the serious glitching and lag times, you get the system auto selecting the wrong area, wrong day, and more.
This service is the worst I have ever encountered. I greatly miss using Concur for booking.

American Express global business travel group is a scam and a disgrace to customers. They are unhelpful, untrustworthy, and completely useless. They have a monopoly on working with large corporations which is the biggest scam yet. They fraudulently charge and overcharge customers for booking fees, after hour fees, travel changes, anything. There is no set fee so they charge whatever they want to the customer without regulation or oversight. This so called travel agency should be ashamed and abolished. I even hate working for my employer for working with them. If you can avoid working with this agency then avoid at all costs, literally and figuratively.

Left in Saudi Arabia, after they cancel by error one of my flight, and they didn´t provide any solution if not paid by myself/and my company a ticket in business for thousands of dollars, without assuming any responsibility.
AMEX cancelled my flight from AMS to DUS for their error. The flight from AMS to DUS is a short flight and was good in economy. Now the ticket in economy from AMS to DUS is not anymore available.
The emergency line of Amex didn´t give any alternative if not paying the Business class from AMS and DUS at € 1,700, that seems not fair.
Asked if Amex could book a train from AMS to DUS, but they told me that they cannot book train, and to call tomorrow between 8am to 6pm for booking train.

I am extremely disappointed with the service.
There are constant issues or flights available on the company site and not in Amex.
I booked two flights two hours ago for myself and a colleague. When I called back because my colleague didn't receive the voucher, the operator laughed at me and said, 'You have to call during business hours; it's too late now, we closed over an hour ago.' Really? For a service we are paying for, you laugh in my face?
Hope we stop as soon as possible to use it.

I wish I could book and plan my own travel. I would not save hours but days of time hanging in a queue or trying to explain my trip and in the end they are still not able to book it. For a professional service that my company pays for the service is so frustrating slow and unprofessional. I remember before Covid the service was 1000% better.

Amex travel is an inconvenience. You are booking through a third party but “directly with the airline”. You have to go through them for everything but “rules and regulations” are not Amex but the other company providing the services. Which means, you have to go through Amex, but the quality and standards are not Amex. BS if you ask me. When you deal with Amex, you expect Amex all the way. I just lost 3,500 in airline booking “while trusting Amex is my provider”. Save yourself the waist of time and money by booking directly with your provider of choice. Use your Amex points for purchases instead of travel.

Don’t support veterans seeking a transition career. Wont hire them. As a CAF member, Ive used their shared travel portal service for 10 years as a travel arranger. That means nothing, other veterans have been shut down by their “talent acquisition”

When things are normal, AmEx Travel is just one of many travel booking options… That perception changed for us when we had to evacuate from an emerging warzone. The airlines and their partners cancelled flights and tossed the blame back and forth. The embassy/consulate was completely useless (an absolute shame…). AmEx Travel was suddenly a glimmer of hope. Over the course of three days, they were calm, super helpful, diligent, caring and comforting. ‘Don’t worry. We’ll get you out.’ and they did. They first got us on a flight out with a big detour, but out nonetheless. Two days later we managed to get our original routing and were able to cancel the other emergency flight, no penalty. Thank you AmEx Travel for literally going the extra mile!

Software is incredibly non-intuitive and difficult to use. UI and UX are just horrendous, not to mention how slow and buggy it is. Don't be surprised if you have to re-book something several times because the software failed to complete what you wanted. The software also hides important details about hotels from you such as the fact that some are paid in advance and non-refundable. Customer service is also useless. Once they have your money, they do not care about you at all and will brush you off.
I absolutely would never recommend to anyone to use this software. Unfortunately I'm cursed to use it for the foreseeable future because my company mandates it. I can easily book all of my travel needs in a tenth of the time it takes me to book it through these so called "pros."

No means of contacting for assistance when overseas or at weekends! I was bumped from my flight booked with Amex Travel on a Saturday. The airline said I needed to speak to the booking agent but the online chat function was never available and the only phone number was not callable from abroad. I was given an email address by Amex card services. When I emailed I received a response saying that due to Covid they could not respond to emails! This is 2024; update your excuses Amex. In the meantime I would never book with them again.

AmEx take your money and give zero service. they provide reference nos that you cannot use on any of their partner airlines. when there is an issue they pass you back to the flight companies who then pass you back to AmEx. i couldn't hate them more. They should have their license removed and not be allowed to trade.

For a number of years I was required to book flights through Amex GBT as part of my employment.
Every dealing with them ended in severe frustration #$@!%.
They often turned what should be a 5-minute job into a multi-day back-and-forth marathon of frustration, annoyance, and irritation.
Despite always providing exact documented required bookings via email they would often book the wrong flights (once they did this three times for the same travel).
If flights required a date change they would cancel tickets and then try to re-book (even with a fully flexible booking), often resulting in the flights being no longer available because they were so slow, flights becoming far more expensive because they were so slow, my credit card getting overdrawn from multiple cancelled bookings waiting to be reimbursed from the airline.
If at all possible avoid Amex GBT and just book directly through the airline and enjoy a normal level of helpful customer help if/when required.

Never realized how much trouble folks have with American Express travel until visiting this page (although I'm not surprised given my frustrating experience as a 1st time customer!). I decided to book direct on the American Express website, where I specifically made a point to check with the online agent that my hotel reservation would include breakfast with the room's rate (just as it would if I had booked from another website). Upon arriving at the hotel for my vacation, we were dismayed to find out from the hotel that breakfast is extra.
In what should have been a simple fix on the part of American Express by having them look back at my previous correspondence, I was told nothing could be done except if I wanted to pay for the breakfast on out of pocket and try to fight a claim in retrospect. This was very unfortunate for my situation given I repeatedly explained the issue with this to American Express's customer service: my family would only want to incur the daily breakfast charge (almost $400 USD given the number of rooms and nights of our stay, so not trivial) if I had some confirmation that it would ultimately be reimbursed given the fault was not my own.
American Express did not seem to get the concept or have any sympathy for me as the customer, instead repeating that nothing else could be done and souring the start to our vacation. Ended up not wanting to risk it (given my low level of trust by that point) and had breakfast from cheaper restaurants on the street instead. It was a disappointment for my family all around, and we are not planning to book again with American Express, thereby closing the door on potential lifelong customers.

the worst service. I have to call them to book my flight and hotel because online is not available. Every time I call, it takes at least 10 min to wait. So many errors: did not revieve invoice/itinerary. called again for invoice; got my name wrong; called again to correct my name; got cutt off while waiting during the call, etc.
