The trip was well-planned and we had excellent guides in every city, which was very helpful. We will recommend Andean Discovery to friends and family.
We stayed in some nice hotels. I wish we'd had more time to explore Cusco (that could've been limited by days we had for the trip).
The Galapagos portion of the trip was great. The ship (Galapagos Legend) is a little tired (in our opinion). The Naturalist to Passenger ratio was great.
In the Sacred Valley, Andean Discovery arranged for us to see things we never would've found (or driven to) on our own (Estate Lunch, Misminay Lunch, Moray Salt Mines)
Our guide in Peru (Cesar Perez) was excellent. Very knowledgable and well-spoken. All of the guides were great.

Amazing experience!
We did the Machu Picchu and sacred valley itinerary, and I do not have enough good things to say about our experience! Andean Discovery handled pretty much everything except the flights to and from Peru, which took a lot of stress out of the planning process. The activities, hotels, and restaurants that were selected as part of the experience were all fantastic, and Andean Discovery was very open to adjusting aspects of the trip to fit the needs of our group. The guides in Peru were all wonderful, and our primary guide Cesar was one of the best guides we have ever had. He was extremely knowledgeable about all the places we went, and kept the itinerary flowing smoothly. When there was an issue with one of our tickets he was on it right away and had it resolved within 15 minutes. A huge thank you to the entire team at Andean Discovery for a wonderful trip!

Andean Discovery did a great job…
Andean Discovery did a great job finding us a wonderful vacation of a lifetime to the Galapagos Islands. From the moment we arrived in Quito til the time we left the Quito airport to return home we had white glove service. Bravo and thank you for a great experience. Now to find time to go back to Equador to see the Amazon portion of the country.

Our guide Cesar was the best anyone could ask for. He helped us with everything we needed and went above and beyond his duties as a guide. He made our time in Peru amazing and I look forward to meeting him again one day.

The destination was incredible but the…
The destination was incredible but the Andean Discovery service was not. The transfers were managed fairly well but often pick-up times were too early and resulted in lots of waiting time. Sometimes breakfast was included but it wasn't available until 7am which was the pick-up time. We were not advised there would be no food service on a 3.5 hour internal flight in Chile that was 6:30pm or that there would be no food or barfood available at hotel when we arrived at 10.
We wasted a day trying to fly from Buenos Aires to El Calafate and the flight delay resulted in our missing our half-day excursion to See Perito Morena and we were not refunded the admission tickets or the guide and driver time. We tried to delay out departure to Las Torres by a few hours 2 days later to avoid missing the UNESCO site but Andean was not flexible on changing any arrangements and suggested we ask the hotel who suggested it was Andean's role. We offered to cancel our Sunday excursion to go to the UNESCO site instead but this was not facilitated either. The drive/boat/hike Sunday excursion turned out to be almost identical to the Grey Glacier drive/boat/hike excursion in Chile and we tried to change our itinerary at Las Torres to avoid this full-day (over 10 hours) repeat excursion but they were not able to accommodate any change despite the materials indicating excursions could be selected each day.
Also, we were not given the option for a non-all-inclusive meal/beverage plan at Las Torres and a la carte would have been much better for us.

Thanks for the feedback - you did provide a possible upcharge on the drive to Chile but it was $1100 USD above what we had already paid for a drive that we researched as $180-200. Not sure if you contacted Ryan Travel or Las Torres but we were the only passengers on both drives so I believe there could have been flexibility on that date.
Also, we weren’t refunded for the missed excursion.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re glad the destination resonated with you, but we’re sorry that several aspects of the service fell short. A last-minute booking, such as yours at 28 days prior to departure, can significantly limit internal flight options, which we will strive to communicate more effectively in the future. Because much of the Patagonia portion operates as a group transfer rather than a private transfer, exact pickup times depend on coordinating with other guests at different hotels, and delays outside our control can occur.
Our program includes an all-inclusive meal package paired with guided excursions though we understand that some travelers prefer an a la carte approach, and we are actively exploring ways to offer more dining flexibility within the package constraints of our providers.
Regarding your delayed flight out of Buenos Aires and subsequent late arrival in El Calafate, that same day and upon your request we provided a quote for a private transfer the following Monday to Torres del Paine to help recover the Perito Moreno excursion, and we want to be transparent about the exchange with our On-call Operations Specialist on Saturday night 2/28/26.
We’re improving our pre-trip communications too to set clearer expectations about breakfast windows, pickup times, and how delays may affect schedules. We’re also examining transfer and excursion scheduling to better accommodate delays and last-minute changes.
If there are other specific items you feel would be appropriate to discuss, we’re open to continuing that conversation. We appreciate your insights as we continually refine our approach to better serve future guests. Thank you again for taking the time to provide your valuable feedback about the trip.

Most amazing trip!
We were a team of six couples that took a land based cruise to Quito, Galapagos and Cusco, Machu Picchu and Lima from USA from Dec 12 thru Dec 24, 2025.
From the time we arrived in Quito to the time we left Lima the arrangements were flawless that included the 5* accommodations and internal flights within South America. All of us on the trip were vegetarians and Andean ensured that the food at all times were per the groups preference. The guides at every location were amazing, knowledgeable and some went an extra mile when one of the members were struggling during the hike. The only suggestion from the team that I can think of was that the itinerary was packed and left little to no room to enjoy the 5* facilities. A day gap to relax and enjoy at some of the locations after a day filled with sightseeing would be an awesome addition.

A trip of a lifetime
I planned a 10 day personal adventure land based tour with my family ages ranging from 76 to 12 years old. We were taken care of from start to finish. The accommodations were wonderful and the guides were totally focused on our needs. The guide was able to flex between our youngest to our oldest traveler. There were numerous times where the guides were helping us to ensure our trip was perfect. I had health issues and air plane issues having to postpone two times. The staff was able to reschedule us with ease. I would use this tour company again. They fulfilled a dream vacation I will never forget.

Poor customer service
While we had a great trip and amazing guides the trip could have been better. We were not listed to as we were planning our trip. I feel the owner has his own ideas and did not take the time to listen to us and learn what we really wanted from this trip. He was unwilling to give is an itimized agenda with costs. I feel the trip could have been even better if they worked with us.

Regarding cost breakdowns, as a tour operator we receive discounted wholesale rates from hotels, airlines, and other partners.
