If you value your sanity, do not use Anglo Pacific
We booked Anglo Pacific for our move from the UK to NZ. We’d used them before, and were impressed, so we thought we were safe using them again. However, this was not the case. Obviously things had changed in the 23 years between uses.
Firstly, the company that turned up at our house to pack our things were NOT Anglo Pacific; they were Intercity Removals. If we’d had sufficient wits about us (almost impossible when you’re having the entire contents of your house removed) we would have questioned this. They turned up in a van that was insufficient for the volume of things that we had. What’s more, one of them raced off soon after arriving at ours, in order to pick up some items from another customer. So there’d be even less room for ours. There was a little bit of a language barrier, which didn’t help, but the guys seemed to be packing things well. I have a LOT of books, and I really wanted to pack them myself, which I had done on the previous two occasions of moving overseas. Unfortunately, Intercity did not have enough small boxes, the size used for packing books, despite the fact that on our volume estimation sheet we had clearly stated that we had about 2 cubic metres of books. So once I’d used up the small boxes, the packers took over, and it wasn’t until we finally unpacked our things that I realised my books had been thrown into boxes first – willy nilly, I might add, not carefully packed – with other random objects on top.
They ran out of pre-printed stickers, so the last few items were scribbled on. Because the van wasn’t big enough, they had to leave some larger items behind. These were picked up a week later, and we were assured that they had joined the rest of our stuff, ready to be shipped.
Communication was poor. We had to keep prompting Anglo Pacific for updates.
Once our belongings were finally delivered, many things were missing, probably due to the incompetency in labelling, and a lot of them were expensive (a drop saw, a power drill, champagne glasses, a set of top-end cutlery, Sonos speakers, cast iron casserole pots). There were breakages and damage – a tool box had been stepped on and dented; a robust dining table had two of its legs broken, probably due to its being stored on its end, putting strain on the legs.
Totally and utterly unimpressed with Anglo Pacific, and Intercity Removals. We would never use them again, and certainly wouldn’t recommend them to anybody else. They displayed no respect whatsoever for our belongings, which you’d think would be a top priority for an international removal firm.
ADDITIONAL REMARKS FOLLOWING ANGLO-PACIFIC'S REPLY...
We're glad to hear that Intercity have been told to review their practices, but this doesn't help locate our missing items.

Anglo Pacific have been diligent
Anglo Pacific have been diligent, timeous, professional and friendly to deal with. They talked me through all aspects of shipping our goods to South Africa, as well as what to expect at the other end. Dipak Parmar has been so good keeping us updated, answering all my questions and staying in contact. We have yet to receive our shipment, but so far I could not rate them more highly. The packers who came to our house were friendly & professional. They took great care in packing our belongings. A massive thank you to you all.

The team at Anglo Pacific have been so helpful. From my first conversation with Jack who surveyed the items I needed shipping to Arman who booked it all. Significant delay / additional hidden cost
We are extremely disappointed with the service provided by this company. Our shipment took over 21 weeks from collection, far beyond their estimated timeframe of 10–14 weeks, and during this entire period we received no updates whatsoever.
To make matters worse, we were suddenly contacted by their local partner and told we had to pay an additional delivery fee that was never included in the original quote. We were even threatened that our goods would not be delivered unless we paid immediately. With our belongings effectively being held hostage, we had no choice but to pay.
This experience has been deeply frustrating, and we do not believe their service level is professional. They should have provided updates regarding the delays and clearly informed us of any potential additional fees at the time of quoting.

Your shipment was quoted based on the most cost-effective shipping method, known as groupage or shared consignment. This means your goods are shipped alongside other families' items, and the shipment can only be dispatched once we have a full container. We always aim to meet delivery timeframes; however, due to the nature of groupage, dispatch times are dependent on container availability, and there are no guarantees.
We apologize for any lack of communication regarding your shipment's status. This issue has been highlighted internally, and we are committed to improving our updates to ensure you’re better informed in the future.
Please note that while all shipments are prioritized, we can only proceed once the container is full.
Regarding the additional charges for delivery, these apply to shipments that require delivery to a 7th-floor apartment. As indicated in our quotation, these types of deliveries involve extra effort and are considered beyond normal delivery service. This surcharge is standard for all such deliveries and is documented in advance in all our quotes.

Disorganised and poor packing
Disorganised Business Structure
The most frustrating aspect was discovering that the sea and air freight divisions operate as separate entities with no coordination between them. Despite being presented with a unified service during the sales process, I was forced to manage two independent organizations - each with separate contacts, billing, and procedures. This created unnecessary complexity and confusion throughout the entire moving process. Had I understood this arrangement upfront, I would have made different decisions about how to structure my move.
Poor Packing Standards
The packing quality was below professional standards. Heavy items were routinely placed on top of fragile belongings, and there appeared to be no systematic approach to box organization. Items were simply thrown into whatever box was nearest, with no consideration for compatibility or protection. This haphazard method has resulted in noticeable damage to several items and left me unable to identify what's in most of my boxes - adding significant frustration to an already stressful relocation.

Terrible after care and support
Items which were not suggested could be prohibited were confiscated by customs, in a country that we were completely unaware our boxes would be travelling to / through.
Communication is great prior to sending items but once shipped it’s like they wash their hands of everything and don’t want to help and support. Slow to respond until multiple emails have been sent. It’s easy to lay the blame elsewhere rather than helping customers.
The insurance offered is not worth the paper it’s written on.
I would really think twice about using this company.

I am sorry you feel this way, but all documentation was presented to you prior to your move. If this was a customs decision, it is very difficult for us to override the regulations of an organization that has full authority to make these rules as they see fit.
It is unclear how we can be held responsible when the issue you are raising is directed entirely at customs. To say that we offer no after-care is not only false and incorrect, but also unfair. We always do our best to ensure a smooth process; however, in this instance customs decided not to allow certain items. As a removal company, we cannot control such decisions, nor can we be penalised for them.
Additionally, if customs made this determination, it is not considered an insurance claim because the items were not permitted in the country. I want to be clear that the information you have been given is not correct.
In any event, we are sorry that customs made this decision, and we continually strive to improve our service. But when customs stops an item, and it is not liked or expected, it is unfortunately not something we can overturn.

Moving to New Zealand - use Anglo Pacific to pack and ship your belongings
Anglo Pacific were recommended to us by friends who had used them to relocate all of their belongings (furniture, kitchenware, electronics, clothing et al) to New Zealand. From the outset they were thoroughly professional and informative, answering any and all questions. The quality of the packaging and general handling of our goods was high. The project manager (Dipak Parma) guided us smoothly through the process and dealt with any issues (the local council failed to honour booked parking spaces) promptly and his communication was great throughout the process and on follow up items. I would absolutely recommend Anglo Pacific to anyone shipping their belongings across the globe.

Dipak was very patient with me…
Dipak was very patient with me regarding all the paperwork that needed to be done and helped me sort out what was required. Given the mess I was making of things he went above and beyond what would be expected from a lot of people. It was a pleasure working with him.
He had to work for many weeks. I can’t remember exactly when we started but it was weeks and weeks ago and he finally got me over the line on 21/11/25
