ApexLabs’ Muscle Defense protein powder is a textbook example of a company prioritizing cost‑cutting and flavor engineering over consumer well‑being. The formulation leans heavily on sucralose, an artificial sweetener that has become a shortcut for brands looking to mask mediocre flavor profiles instead of investing in cleaner, higher‑quality ingredients.
The result is unmistakable: the product is overwhelmingly, aggressively sweet—to the point of being nearly undrinkable. This isn’t a balanced flavor profile; it’s a chemical blast designed to distract you from what’s actually in the tub.
When I contacted ApexLabs to ask why they relied on sucralose rather than a cleaner sweetener, their response was astonishingly dismissive:
“It’s within the daily allowed amount of toxicity.”
That is not the language of a company committed to health, transparency, or ethics. It’s the language of a brand that views regulatory minimums as a marketing shield rather than a responsibility to consumers.
While sucralose is permitted for use in food products, many consumers intentionally avoid artificial sweeteners due to concerns about gut health, long‑term exposure, and the simple desire for cleaner formulations. A company selling a health product should understand that. ApexLabs clearly does not.
To make matters worse, their marketing strategy leans on multi‑pack upsells, pushing customers to buy more before they’ve even had a chance to evaluate the product. When a brand aggressively bundles a formula this poorly designed, it raises questions about their confidence in repeat purchases.
Bottom line:
ApexLabs’ Muscle Defense protein powder is a disappointing, overly sweet, artificially engineered product wrapped in health‑focused branding. Consumers looking for clean, responsible nutrition should look elsewhere.

Muscle Defense is one of the tastiest protein blends I’ve had. Excellent value; instead of purchasing multiple supplements separately, Apex protein gives you everything in one convenient product.

First, regarding the product: I found the aftertaste unpleasant and the powder difficult to mix into a smooth drink.
My primary concern with this company relates to its customer service practices.
Two months ago, I received my first shipment of six strawberry-flavored packs. After contacting the company about my dissatisfaction with the taste, they requested that I return the product at my own expense, which was $30.
Yesterday I discovered they charged me again, so immediately I emailed and called to figure out why, and I was told that I didn't cancel my subscription when I returned the product to them, so now they had to charge me and already shipped me the same product that I hated and returned :-(
The company support representative informed me, after consulting with his manager, that I would need to pay from my own pocket, again, for the return delivery (another $30), and that they would refund only the cost of the product afterward.
This is a prime example of poor customer service, and I would recommend avoiding this company.

I knew they were going to do a sales pitch as soon as I opened the video. It's also all BS and lies and doesn't work and not endorsed by the FDA. Don't buy or subscribe or you'll find it nearly impossible to cancel. Read all the negative reviews on Trustpilot.

Dr Gapin is the biggest fraud i have ever read and heard. His "couple of minutes" speech is always about 35-40 minutes and he just wants to sell himself. Makes me and my friends want to vomit when we see his videos.

I feel great at 64 years thanks to Apex Labs.

The ultra elite seems to make my mind sharper and give me extra energy

GLP+ is the 6th product I have purchased from Apex and every product I take has done what it was advertised to do. In the case of GLP+, at 1 month of taking the product, my hunger cravings are slightly reduced. Although I don't have much fat to burn (currently at approx.3-4%) I do look leaner. I do have increased energy and am growing stronger weekly. As I increase my weights in the next month of my lifting program, I'll know more as I get to 1.5-2.0 times body weight. Looking forward to see whay happens!

They will NOT cancel the order and keep billing me every month. Im going to have to cancel the card and report it as fraud. Product is garbage also.

While I think the Apex Lab Muscle Defense product is a fine product the operational aspect of Apex labs is a complete disaster. My subscription renewal and new product orders have been a complete mess. I receive product I didn’t order and am charged for product I didn’t receive. I get unsolicited phone calls from Apex Lab representatives wanting to sell me product. I believe Apex Labs has lost its focus.

This company is a joke! They don’t care about sending results to your Doctor! Last time I saw my doctor they never sent the results to him. He had to call them while I was in his office! They’re supposed to be doing my blood work on Monday, and they always come out on Wednesday there by not allowing enough time for my doctor to see my results! The staff is very rude and always sound like they’re annoyed when you call them!
I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone, they’re not qualified to treat anyone other than a dog! They can never give you an exact time of when they’re arriving! I got a automated call last night at 7 o’clock stating that they would be here between 12 and two less than 24 hours notice!

I'm starting to experience benefits of the GLP+ and Muscle Defense. My stomach is begging to flatten, and the Muscle Defense has taken away a lot of joint pain. I twisted my knee 10 months ago and have been living with knee pain ever since. The other day I realized I no longer had knee pain.

I am 5’7” and started at 157 pounds. I am in excellent shape to start, but have not been able to get below 157 pounds. As of this morning I weigh 154 pounds and have not changed anything except taking Muscle defense and GLP. I now have my wife starting.

Too difficult to cancel my subscription. Easy to order; have to call an 800 number to cancel. Ridiculous!

GLP product didn't work, and they didn't stand behind their money back guarantee.

Is Muscle Defense a scam? Probably not. Does it use false advertising? Possibly. Does it work? No. Is it a rip off? Absolutely.
This product did not work for me in any way whatsoever – after my 60-day trial, there was no change in my muscle mass, strength, or recovery; no change in my weight or fat content; and no improvements in my workouts or energy levels.
And, the limited ingredients at $3 or more per serving can be resourced elsewhere at 30 cents or less per serving.
Naturally, when requesting a refund, it was denied. So, if something appears to be too good to be true – it usually is. Buyers beware!

I appreciated the detail given as we make decision to utilize Apex Labs as my Go to for controlling my weight and muscle development… I am an Old Marine 74 years old and I have outstanding stamina and drive to continue maintaining my Strength and Health… Best product I have ever relied on…

Building muscle, getting lean. Great at 70 years old

The product does seem to reduce hunger, I am classified as an opportunist eater so I tend to skip meals as I am too busy with other things. Being in the mid 60s my metabolism has dropped. I find the product is easy, fast to prepare and keeps me on task. I use muscle defense which I find works will with my workouts. I do workout 5 days a week for 1 hour, a mix of cardio and weights.
I have noticed minimal weight loss, about 1 - 2 lbs in the time I have been using it ( a month ). I believe that staying on it longer will likely work as my fat to muscle may be less than others who would see a faster weight loss early on.
My main goal is to maintain muscle and try and lose some weight. This product seems to help with that.
