This scam happened to me

November 9, 2025:
I am so glad I saw and thank Sandra Worsfold for her review, as this scam happened to me quite recently. I returned from holiday on September 23 and read a letter from access PaySuite stating $74.99 was taken from my account on September 18, in my absence. I contacted them and spoke with a man who said the money covered five appliances and would be paid every three months! He said he would cancel the policy and that $74.99 would be returned to my account with 3-4 working days. I waited and checked my account and phoned on a number of occasions only to be told the money would be refunded but this did not happen.

On November 7 I called D&G and spoke of these reviews and said that someone in their company was advising Appliance Breakdown of D&G’s clients and taking money from their accounts. D&G are “escalating” this and recommended that I go to my bank (Santander) immediately, which I did yesterday morning November 8 and explained the situation. What then amazed me was that they simply put $74.99 into my account and then will take this up with Appliance Breakdown. I hope all banks will do the same and that Appliance Breakdown and connecting companies be brought to task and prosecuted.

Do not use - Con company

I received a membership agreement on Saturday 8th November 2025 saying that I had taken out membership on 28th October 2025 and giving me 14 days to cancel. As their HELPLINE only operates on weekdays this did not give much chance of cancelling before Tuesday 11th November. However my bank does operate at the weekend and have agreed not to pay the direct debit. The question to be asked is why it took 9 days for documentation to reach me and why is their service so limited and so expensive.

Do not use Appliance Breakdown UK Ltd

My mum set up appliance care with D&G but following this got a suspicious direct debit confirmation for £74.99 quarterly from access PaySuite for a company called Appliance Breakdown it is a scam someone in D&G must be giving over bank details to this scam company. Avoid at all costs and cancel any DD immediately. I will be reporting to trading standards as this has also happened to someone else in here

Think twice before using this company.

I was sent a breakdown policy by this company which I had never agreed to. On speaking to them they told me they had spoken to me on a certain date, which is the day after my husband died. I had family here and also out for a lot of the day. There is no way I would be arranging breakdown cover, which I dont want anyway, on a day like that. They also had my bank details, not sure how they had those. This company needs to be investigated looking at the reviews I have been reading on here.

Con company?

This is a con company. Rang me to offer discount cover at same time D&G due for renewal. Didn't say who they were so assumed D&G.
When confirmation came through not D&G. When I rang to cancel and man named "David" wouldn't give his full name and this is is also probably false said he would refund. To date nothing. Avoid this company.

I cancelled an Appliance Breakdown…

I cancelled an Appliance Breakdown direct debit in 2024 only for them to reinstate it in 2025 and take another payment, this time totally unauthorised. I contacted my bank and they then sought a refund. Not to be trusted.

Appliance Breakdown scam policy

Appliance Breakdown set up a Platinum level breakdown insurance policy for my mother which includes appliances she does not have. We don’t know if any contact was made with her other than the policy and direct debit notification arriving in the post. Fortunately it appears to have been set up with direct debit details for an old account (pre dating the registering of Appliance Breakdown with Company House). Email for cancellation has not been responded to. Attempt to contact them by phone resulted with being put on hold and then dropped. Their terms and conditions contain a page of ‘What is not covered’, followed by a page of ‘We will not cover the following:’ most of which is not favourable given the £299.99 annual price of the policy along with the cover limits and default automatic renewal. The direct debit was set up via Access PaySuite which reading the Trustpilot reviews is used to process debits for scam subscriptions.

Update 6th Jan 2025:
No response from Appliance Breakdown yet. My mother had previously been scammed by similar companies and we thought we had cancelled these previous policies. As old bank details were involved we checked to see if there was a connection between Appliance Breakdown and previous policies and yes there was.
Boiler Breakdown (Boiler Breakdown Limited inc 14 Aug 2013) is one of the many companies trading from the same address (41 OLDFIELDS ROAD, SUTTON, SURREY, SM1 2NB) as Appliance Breakdown with the same officer: Tony Copland. Trust pilot reviews suggest Boiler Breakdown is also a scam company.
