No, your Puretec Softrol water softener does not add salt to your water. The system uses salt exclusively during the regeneration process to cleanse and recharge the resin beads. After regeneration, the unit automatically flushes out any salty water before redirecting softened water to your taps. This ensures the water supplied to your home is free from added salt, making it safe and suitable for all uses. Whilst it’s true that the sodium level will increase, it will be proportionate to the hardness minerals removed, and any change in total dissolved salts (TDS) will be minimal.
