Auctionet is just a bidding hub, and offers little value if you are a bidder. You are still at the mercy of shill bidders, and the integrity of the auctioneer.
I placed a single bid on a lot 02/23, with closing 02/25. I was the sole bidder but Auctionet extended the auction 24 hours "for technical reasons" during the LAST MINUTE. I asked them why, but I am still without a reply. By some miracle, the view count spiked by 50-75 during the next two hours and I was eventually outbid.
I immediately asked that my bid be withdrawn, I don't bid if the process is unfair, which it certainly wasn't to me. My request was ignored. They kept my highest bid.
The most likely reason I can think of is that the auction house demanded an extension, so that their shill bidder could manipulate the auction.

Shill bidding and shipping scam
You can buy items at auctionet and also find some good deals surely, but take care!
1. Shill bidding (practice where the auction house bids on their own items). We have great experience with bidding at auctions as dealers. With Auctionet we have noticed that our final results far too often are just a tad lower than our max offer, so that we win with like 10 swedish kroners as margin. This is not even possible and it's a VERY red flag! Probably AI generated so even if you come in late you will always end around you max bid :) Funny isn't it?
2. The prices at auctionet for transport / shipping are extremely high. Actually they must be the highest prices in the whole of Europe! You will pay 3-4 times the amount what you're use to with other auction houses. They do not offer a postal option, even for tiny items like coins or jewelry. They do not have a combined option so if you win more than one item from the same auction house, you will pay more than one shipping fee, which is hilarious! :) Normally if you're a strong buyer you get a break on shipping or some extra service. Don't count on that either unless you press hard.

they are scammers. they sold me a broken watch, they didn't write in the description that it was defective. on top of that, he edits his pictures. the watch had some big scratches on the back but in the pictures the back looked flawless. the repair of the watch cost me another 150€, the watchmaker told me that someone had walked in the watch.
I do not recommend these merchants! they have extremely high fees and are not serious

All auctions add +20% buyer comission, which is shown in very small text below the bid. Comission fees should never be paid by the buyer. Seller should pay comission, not the buyer!!
The shipping fees are too high and extremely slow. A complete joke.
Will never buy again and would not recommend this service.

A personal and timely response to me enquiry about the whereabouts of my delivery. Thank you!
i have been a customer of auctionet for some years and have always found them to be very reasonable in the way they deal with me. their customer service department responds to enquiries promptly and is very helpful in resolving any issues which arise.
the range of lots consigned is truly eclectic - as they say, something for everyone.
bear in mind that over above the winning bid there are charges: commission, vat, droit de suite if applicable, possibly shipping & duty.
i wish auctionet every success.
Great company. I've bought two separate lots and have been delighted with the service. It's fast and all items were wrapped securely and carefully. It's great being able to see items from other auction houses outside the UK. The website is easy to use and great at displaying images and details.

Dont buy from this website. Scamming people with very high postage charges. I paid £68 for delivery and the delivery time is upto 15 days for delivery within UK. royal mail would only charge £5-10 at max with 2-3 days for delivery.

This company is a nightmare. Bought lots from Lawrence Fine Art Auctioneers Ltd which is part of Auctionnet. They can't consolidate my lots to give me a shipping cost. Auctionnet told me to get in touch with Lawerances and Lawerances send me back to Auctionnet. Be very cautious if you buy more than one lot from these people as they don't have a clue. They charge postage on each lot which is also very expensive.

I’ve bought a few pieces of jewellery from auction net. The delivery/transportation is very expensive. However on this occasion I have been charged with duties tax’s and fees. The item cost be around £160 to purchase. I paid another £30 just for shipping. However I received an email from FedEx stating I incurred duties tax’s and feeds. The VAT on this occasion was £57.30 and Disbursement fee is £12.70. I’m not sure where they got that figure from as VAT in the UK is 20%. Anyways I really thought me paying £30 for shipping covered those fees as I’ve never had to pay this in the past. I have sent FedEx an email disputing the fees as they are not correct. But Auctionet and the sellers on their should have covered those fees as why else do they make their customers pay such a high amount for shipping.

Software duplicated my bids, overcharging me as it set my bids against me. Shipping and payment was an absolute nightmare. Said they can't ship to PO boxes, but used Royal Mail. Customer support took ages and didn't resolve issues. Shipping discount for combined orders is still a rip off. I really regret using this when trying to buy a few lots from Lawrence's of Crewkerne...
Update: After several weeks, Auctionet now sent me invalid Royal Mail updates. Utterly useless...
