*Objective Expert Reviews: Before relying on customers, often subjective reviews to purchase audio products, please do your own research (if possible, listen to actual speakers in-store) to find the best product for your needs based on objective, unbiased reviews by experts (e.g. RTINGS) who purchase their own products (not cherry-picked units sent by brands) and put them under the same test bench using a systematic methodology so they can easily compare the results (Frequency Response Accuracy, Raw Frequency Response, Soundstage, and Dynamics).*

After reading and watching numerous expert reviews on the Edifier Airpulse A100 speakers, I decided to purchase a pair in early November. I opted for the cherry wood finish.

Sound Quality: I've been listening to the speakers for about a month, and I can state with confidence that the AirPulse A100 is for listeners who are looking for very particular details in songs. You can't go back to anything else once you've discovered the instrument that brings out that tone, beat, vocal, or detail that has been there all along. It is unquestionably the most remarkable speaker available in this price range, featuring flawlessly constructed drivers for the tweeter and dome mid-woofers.

Build Quality: The construction quality is excellent. It doesn't feel hollow like many speakers since it is made of 18mm thick, high-strength MDF and is lined with professional-grade sound absorption material to lessen the needless high colouration many Horn Tweeters suffer from. Eliminating colour from studio speakers is essential since it affects the sound they generate and is very important for mastering audio, including vocals.

Horn Loaded Ribbon Speaker: The A100's design was influenced by Airpulse's flagship 7001 near-field monitors, which use the same horn-loaded ribbon tweeter mechanism created by renowned speaker designer Phil Jones. Don't expect to find dome-based drivers, which are often seen in the mass market, in the A100.

The horn-loaded ribbon tweeter and the 5" aluminium cone underhung neo power mid-woofer are the main features of these speakers. An extremely thin, incredibly flexible, light metal diaphragm suspended in an electromagnetic field powers the ribbon tweeter. These drivers are far superior to dome drivers. They accomplish things that dome drivers cannot match. Higher acceleration and a wider response are brought about by the material's characteristic, which enables it to manage even the smallest subtleties of sound waves. It is dynamic, completely responsive, and has the crispiest detail you can never unhear.

A Klippel Laser Doppler Interferometer, a level of precision usually found in high-end loudspeakers, was used to design the A100's 5-inch aluminium mid-woofer. Even at high volume, the bigger 35mm voice coil produces dynamic, distortion-free sound because it operates cleaner and cooler than standard designs.

The horn-loaded ribbon tweeter reduces reflections and improves stereo imaging while providing outstanding transient response and directing sound toward the listener. When combined, they produce immersive three-dimensional music that performs better than many conventional HiFi setups, despite occupying much less space.

Amplifier: The amplifier is built with Texas Instruments' TAS5754 Class-D Chipset, which enables the speaker to decode and play high-fidelity song files like FLAC at 192 kbps. The A100 delivers clear sound, free from unwanted noise or distortion. With support for an ultra-high 768 kHz PWM frequency and a 192 kHz sample rate, they provide natural, pure, low-noise power that makes music come to life. By amplifying the 5" anodised aluminium woofers and ribbon tweeters separately, they deliver amazing dynamics.

Hi-Res Certified and Studio-Grade Inputs: Thanks to a high-performance XMOS USB interface and a Texas Instruments PCM9211 SPDIF receiver with support up to 216kHz, including a digital amplifier with an Xmos processor, which processes all inputs, and can connect to almost anything (Bluetooth with AptX, USB inputs, optical input, coaxial, RCA, AUX), the lossless audio sounds natural.

Great value for money

Great value for money! I’m not big on tech so I wasn’t too sure which turntable to go for, but David helped me to pick the perfect one for my needs, and I couldn’t be happier! It fits in perfectly with the vintage vibe I have going on in my apartment, and the sound quality from the built in speakers is great.
