I had a great experience purchasing my BMW M4 and part-exchanging my old car.

From the first phone call, Carl was very informative and took the time to discuss both the M4 and my part exchange. We continued the conversation on WhatsApp, where I sent over photos and details of my car and received a valuation that I was very happy with.

I then made the 2-hour journey to view the car, and it matched the description perfectly and exceeded my expectations. Carl showed me around the car thoroughly, never rushed me, and answered all my questions. The car drove great, so I went ahead with the purchase.

Carl inspected my part exchange and honoured the original valuation given on WhatsApp, which I really appreciated. After the deposit was taken, he arranged a full year’s MOT and even had a small door ding repaired, which he had already pointed out during the walkaround.

Carl wasn’t available on collection day, but Elliott handled the handover and was just as professional and helpful.

Overall, I couldn’t recommend them highly enough. Both Carl and Elliott made the entire buying experience genuinely enjoyable. I’m absolutely delighted with my BMW M4 and wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

GOLD STANDARD EXAMPLE OF HOW NOT TO DEAL WITH A CUSTOMER

After initial good communications with Carl, which were really good, there were a few points that I did question, but I was happy to roll with it.

First and foremost, this review relates to Auto100"Select" and not Auto100. Whilst there appears to be some tenuous links between both business, my experience is only related to Auto100SELECT.

The Car I was interested in is a Jaguar F-Type 400 Sport. I live 134 (Yes, ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY FOUR) miles away from the converted house.

Elliott, who I believe to work for Carl was very cordial and set out the intent upon arrival, which was to have a look around the car, then we could take it for a test drive. So far, so good.

It is important to understand that I had written communications from Carl, outlining verbatim "You're very welcome to come up next Saturday around 1200 to view the car and go for a test drive - that works fine for us".

I also made it clear that I would pay a deposit, post inspection/test drive providing all was in order to reserve the vehicle and pay the balance on 28 January. I am completely cognisant that should I not come through with the balance on 28 January, the vehicle would no longer be reserved and I would potentially lose my deposit, which I would have been content with and accepted.

Now, to drive from south Devon to Auto100Select takes 3 hours, so it is quite an investment in time, but the car looked great and with the correspondence with Carl, I was happy with the commitment.

Now, grab yourself some popcorn and settle in.

Upon arrival and a 15 minute look around the car when it was static and the engine had not been turned over, I went into the converted house to move to the next stage, the test drive.

Because I had stated to Carl, that due to the long drive and effort, it was prudent to arrange viewings of other cars too, although, thus far, I am happy with the Jaguar F Type 400 Sport.

As a result of this, I was to either put down a deposit of £500 on the car or go and conduct my other viewings and then come back if I did not like what I had seen.

I informed Carl, that incurs an additional 2 hours of travel and further, your communications were that I could take it for a test drive. Now the terms had changed. The caveat to take it for a test drive was to put down a deposit on the car (BEFORE TURNING A KEY OR A WHEEL). I found this ludicrous and made my feelings clear, that I had written evidence, as I have a Police background and I had invested 3 hours to test drive this vehicle.

In short, Carl (as is his prerogative) chose not to allow me to proceed with a test drive or indeed, even to consider taking a deposit and asked me to leave, as he didn't want to do business with me.

So, there are a few takeaways here to consider:

1. Irrespective of my intention to have other viewings or not, that is completely my prerogative, I was simply being clear and transparent, this appeared to cause considerable angst (You have to ask why)!!

2. Have you ever had to pay a £500 deposit on a car, simply for a test drive????? There were no terms or clauses or writing, how the deposit may be defaulted and as a result, I was very cautious in this regard, nevertheless, as I really liked the car, I was prepared to commit to the £500 "blind" deposit, but alas, Carl did not wish to do business with me.

3. You have to ask yourself, is there an elephant in the room, hence why requiring to pay a deposit for a "TEST DRIVE"??

4. Carl brought up the payment milestones... I have to ask, why was this not raised as a flag if it were the case, during initial correspondence, so that I would not have had to make the long 6 hour journey (return from Devon to near Winchester).

I have since purchased another F-Type and it is on my drive and I'm very happy with the dealership and their service, I have since given them 5 stars on Trust Pilot. Sadly, I cannot do the same with Auto100SELECT.

Auto100SELECT lost the opportunity of a sale and potential for customer marketing and recurring business. In contrast, I will ensure that if any of my network are in the market for a vehicle, irrespective of their intention, I will bring their attention to this very cautionary tale!!!

Elliott, I wish you all the best in your endeavours, albeit, I fear that Carls ethics may be very far from true north.

the 10 year old merch was prepared to as new condition.Carl went out of his way to make the purchase a happy occasion.i would happily buy from him again.

Carl at Auto 100 select was extremely helpful and very accommodating when sorting out a warranty issue with my new car. Everything was sorted very promptly and the garage invoice paid within a few days as promised by Carl. Very happy customer!!

From the very start my experience with Carl and Harv has been flawless, my Mercedes was immaculate on arrival and Carl was very helpful getting me set up in the car. Superb experience from the guys at Auto100. From sourcing to delivering an immaculately turned out car. The after sales has been refreshing and attentive. Would use again.

The BMW X6 was superb, but the real star was Carl. He made the whole process easy – knowledgeable, genuine, and no pressure at all. The car was immaculately presented, the trade-in simple, and the after-sales outstanding. Carl even arranged a puncture kit replacement sent direct to my home. Three months on, the car is still perfect. A thoroughly nice chap and a pleasure to deal with – highly recommended.

Great people and service. Held the car for me for 2 weeks whilst I organised my finances. Kept in constant communication and everything happened as promised. Even when I turned up 2 hours late to pick the car up!

I recently bought a Porsche Cayenne GTS off Auto 100 Select and moving forward now I wouldn’t use anyone else!

Harv dealt with my initial enquiry getting back to me within 30 mins confirming that the car was still available and organised a prompt viewing the following day - he then organised finance and within one day I was driving my new car back home.
Carl the Director was also hugely helpful and had great knowledge on all things Porsche which was great! I would hugely recommend anyone to use these guys as they will not let you down.

What an absolute pleasure Carl was from start to finish. The car was fully prepped and clean when we got there, Carl knew all about the car and answered all our questions. We test drove it on a mixture of roads and decided it was the car for us. A very quick negotiation and the deal was done. We insured it, taxed it and drove it away. No hassle, no stress, just good old honest decency.

Phenomenal service from Carl, car was immaculately prepared for me as I was coming from some 200 miles away.
