AVALARA has shown two faces.
The sales department only cares about making you pay upfront and totally ignores agreed timelines to the extent that I have written 30 emails to salesrepresentative J.E. to get a status update and got two 'I am so sorry' emails in reply without any resolution. While overcharging by 300% in comparison with AVASK.
Once the actual accountant of Avalara, Aleksandra, went to work with my case this changed completely. She took ownership, communicated punctually, resolved all issues, was pro-active with the minor setbacks we had. The work of Aleksandra by itself I would rate a 10 out of 10.
But I cannot ignore the four months of total disregard and disrespect by the sales-department. Therefore, and only therefore, I would never choose AVALARA again.

Avalara, ok for registrations but as soon as the first years is over, some or all states need to renew the licence. At this point Avalara puts its hands up and the states where it has set up the sales tax on your behalf and you dont have any direct contact you dont need if you need to renew or not.
This seems to be a major flaw

I would like to say that this company is always very helpful. They have now helped me out by providing VAT certificates and tax numbers that I needed which has saved me quite a bit of money.
I spoke to Dale who couldn’t have done enough for me to anybody looking at using this company. I would highly recommend.

Was with avalara for years they were grate but 2000 euro per eu market place has made me leave. If i paid that i would have to work for free. They dropped the contract with amazon and left 1000s of sellers without representation and their parnter singularity tax are just a scam enterprise dont use them either 1stopvat is our next choice.

Keeps charging after cancellation fo contract
We worked with Avalara for 3 years. We had issues with setting up their system with our website and their tech team was extremely slow and incompetent. After 3-4 months we finally got it to work. After 6 months in they doubled their fees we still kept working with them. We finally decided to end our contract a few months ago and they give us the runaround. Fill this form, call here, chat there after days of work we managed to get the cancellation approved by their team but they still bill us on a monthly basis! My advice is run away do not hire avalara and if you're still a customer quit as soon as possible. There are many other options are there with people you can reach and who actually do the job.

Appalling support
Appalling support, they only send invoices months after the date they were raised and then chase payment and threaten to halt the service. This issue has been raised multiple times, yet they continue to do it.

HORRIBLE Support and even worse software
One of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. Our AvaTax software has not been working for over a month now and the support we have received is abysmal. This is very clearly due to a bug in their software but their "engineering team" based out of India (that you can only speak to through a third party) is completely clueless and unhelpful. Dozen of hours on the phone and in zoom calls has yielded nothing. Do no use this software, the "Account Management" and "Support" are both a complete joke and they do not stand behind their software. But don't worry, they will keep charging you even when their software is non-functional for over a month.

I had high hopes when we signed up for Avalara's VAT services through Amazon, but my experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. Since January 2024, our VAT registrations in two countries were invalidated, and Avalara has been unable to determine why.
Despite our contract with Amazon still having 10 months left, Avalara refused to assist us in re-registering our VAT numbers. This lack of support has left our company facing invalid VAT statuses in two countries, resulting in a massive headache of retroactive filings for nine months each.
The customer service has been unhelpful and unresponsive, leaving us stranded during a critical time. I expected a reliable partner for our VAT compliance, but instead, we've been left to deal with the consequences of their failures. I cannot recommend Avalara based on this experience.
