Everything was perfect since the moment of the reservation. I would highly recommend Avax.
They are more flexible and are great at communication both before and whilst there. Unlike the major hire firms ripping you off on excess insurance, we paid a modest price for their comprehensive. Extra driver at no cost and green card free. Received a brand new car.
Hired the car in Dubrovnik. Arranged a time to pick up the car from Hrvoje Totić. He was extremely helpful and gave us tips on the best way to get to our next destination. He also arranged and gave us the name and contact details of his colleague in Split where we were dropping the car off. As we were flying early on the departure day we decided to check where to drop off the car two days earlier as we had heard that it is quite tricky to find their off airport office. They had already said that we could drop off in the terminal and they would meet us. They came out especially to show us where to go and sent direction and pictures of their entrance. The young lady was very friendly as was all their staff.
On the day of departure, we arrived at the office as arranged and they ran us to the departure lounge. Such a good experience wish they had offices in other European countries. Also far cheaper than the major companies.

We had a generally good first experience with Avax in Korcula - mainly thanks to Pedro, who was five-star terrific and a pleasure to deal with. On the negative side, we were given a car that had recently been involved in a collision, with right-rear bodywork damage - and a car that had no spare tire. When we checked back with Pedro a few days later, he still had no spare tire to give to us. If Avax wants to be a five start rental company, it needs to sort out these kind of issues. They were not Pedro's fault, and they did not end up affecting us at all, but they were negatives.

We rented an Avax car in Split, Croatia for a few days. Upon arrival, despite having paid a fee for out-of-hours pickup, the office was closed without sign on door, and we waited 15 minutes till the neighbouring shopkeeper told us that someone would arrive shortly. The car itself was good (although it had not been cleaned of trash from previous renter). Upon returning the car at the Split airport, nobody answered the 2 phone#s we were given until we were ready to board our plane, so we had to leave the car parked outside at the airport with the keys under a wheel! At the last minute the Avax guy answered the phone so we could inform about the dropoff. An email requesting a response from Avax was never answered. Apart from this, the rental car experience was okay, and a good price.

Returned to Croatia for a second vacation! This time I booked a Suzuki S-Cross at Split airport. Although I had originally reserved a VW Sharan but the reservation request was turned down because I did not respond back to their email and they had in the meantime confirmed it to another customer. Lesson learned - book by phone and get an instant decision on what cars are available.
Avax do not have an airport desk so you have to be picked up and taken to their off-site office. Our Meet and Greet did not happen and we had to phone to remind them to pick us up. After that everything went smoothly like clockwork. The return was to their off-airport office and it also went without hiccups.
Avax offer the best rental rates and beat their competitors on value for money. The staff are professional, pleasant and courteous. Well done on that front also.
I will definitely use them next time - that's a great recommendation in itself.

I used Avax for a 4 day rental while on Korcula in August 2017. I found their communication prior to the rental excellent, I was met at the ferry dock as requested and was able to drop the car off there as well. Pedro (on island representative) was excellent as well. I rent very regularly in the US (President's club at Hertz and high level at Avis) and I was entirely comfortable and pleased with the service and response from Avax.

I have booked with Avaxrent rent a car two times in Croatia. Both rentals were ok. Everything as described on their web and also staff there at their office seems nice as i had to do some changes. Did it over the phone and the lady there was very helpfull. All in all seem good. I was a little bit sceptical at first time as i did not know them. But now for me it is a company that is trust to. Hope you will have same experience

The car condition of the car and delivery time could be better but they try to help their customers. Will definitely rent again.

Was a really bad experience. They took the car 36 hs. before the contract end, and don´t want to return my money back. Really informal service. Take care of them.

Avoid AVAX rent a car if you hire a car at Split airport. They are NOT located in the airport, but 1.5 km away, our flight arrived earlier than planned and they took 3 hours to come to the airport and provide a dirty car, with half-filled tank. In the meanwhile the whole family had to wait in the crowded airport. They had no baby seat (which we previously booked online) but a booster (which we had to pay as a complete seat). Finally they charged 35€ for an early morning return and refused to provide a receipt for this. Worst custom service I've ever had from a rental company.

Booked a Suzuki Baleno from Split for 5 days.  Got upgraded to a Kia Ceed. Pick up was fuss-free.

Quick tip here: Pay in cash (Kunas only) and get a 10% discount off your total bill.

Not used to driving on the right, I mounted a kerb and had a sidewall puncture on Day Two near Krka.

It was a National holiday too. But Avax has great emergency support. With 1.5 hours I was picked up and sent to Zadar where a replacement car (Suzuki Vitara) awaited me. 

I used the Vitara from Day Three to Five and returned it at Split airport. Again fuss-free.

Special thanks to two Avax staff:

1. Antonio - For being the first responder.  And getting on the phone and yelling at the road assistance truck to find me at the docks to Visovac Monastery.

2. Andro - What a man.  Got the Vitara in Zadar for me and helped to resolve everything within minutes when I had to transfer vehicle. Really important for me as I was travelling with a 2 year old toddler and it helped he understood how urgently we needed a replacement vehicle.

I had a great experience with Avax. If I could rate them 6 out of 5 I would. 

And yes - premium insurance meant I paid nothing for the punctured tire and all the other hassle such as a replacement and upgrade to a bigger vehicle.

Used Avax on the Island of Korcula, fast, friendly, efficient service by Pedro. Got a whatsapp message day prior to pick up to confirm everything was sorted. Good rate and vehicle.

I am disappointed. I booked Kia sedan brand new car (with no option of similar) but they gave me a different car, not cleaned and full of smoke. The car was not safe as the tire threads were below legal limit (already rubbing the tire thread safety markings). When I complaint they didn't care much.
