Avios, the hotel and Expedia were all locked out of my booking!!!
Firstly I want to say a big thank you to everyone from the Avios customer service , who were trying to help me last night. I could tell people were on my side.
Earlier in the evening I made an honest mistake while booking an hotel, using the AVIOS site, and entered the wrong month. I should have written April the 8th, but mistakenly I entered the wrong month.
Now, after four hours on the telephone this is the crazy situation I found myself in:
1) The agent from Avios CAN NOT ACCESS MY BOOKING, so therefore can not amend it, and told me that the hotel could.
2) The hotel after many emails/telephone conversations, wanted to change the dates for me, but CAN NOT ACCESS MY BOOKING and told me Avios could.
3) Avios then mentioned Expedia? So I called Expedia and guess what: THEY CAN NOT ACCESS MY BOOKING EITHER!
Expedia gave me this number +44 1925848884. THAT NUMBER TURNED OUT TO BE AER LINGUS!
I called them back and they gave me that same number twice!
I had at least 12 people on the phone last night, but no one can help. WHAT IS GOING ON?
Is this the world we are living in now?
Where humans want to help another person, but computers won’t let us?
I lost airmiles, and I lost money, because of a simple honest mistake.
Something is very wrong here.
Very disappointed, with Avios.
Sincerely,
Amanda Musker

So, as per usual with these kinds of companies, they drop the ball on something, you put in a customer service request, again they drop the ball and do nothing about it for over two months, and then they expect you to do all the leg work over again and provide them with all the details. No. See below for the now 2 case numbers, look into your correspondence history and sort it out. I did respond to the email, and surprise surprise, it’s been bounced back by the server. Shockingly bad.
This is an Avios issue, not a me issue. If you’re trying to decide which point programme to go with, I’d advise giving Avios the biggest swerve you can manage.

It is the worst customer service ever!
Not only is it the worst customer service, but it appears to be a non-existent customer service. I too would give negative stars. I think Trustpilot needs to offer a negative rating! I have been spending through their shopping site to gain more Avios points but they are not awarding me the points and no explanation as to why? I have contacted them on numerous occasions and they just ignore me! I have lost so many Avios points, it is real scam. Shame on you Avios and BA!! I will find a different credit card from now on.
How is no one talking about the fact…
How is no one talking about the fact that the Avios program is a scam?? You cannot combine Avios on any single website, you get locked out of accounts constantly because you are told to log into different browsers and devices to try. You miss the opportunity to book flights and are stuck with the Avios that they say are non refundable. Honestly it's a complete scam and it should be investigated
Having tried to contact Avios for weeks…
Having tried to contact Avios for weeks now and use the points I have collected 200k I now realise this is a complete scam. Everything is difficult to use and no chance to just speak with someone. The app, the website never work properly they clearly do not want you to redeem any points if you can even find a seat available. It’s block after block. I feel totally cheated. It’s not customer friendly for a reason.. it’s a scam
Impossible to reedeme the points
If I could give zero or minus stars I…
If I could give zero or minus stars I would. I will never book with avios hotels again. There is no customer service or willingness to help with bookings. They wouldn’t escalate my complaint and kept repeating they had no access to the systems.
Please don’t book through avios hotels.
A miss is as good as an airmile.
Whilst it’s great to collect airmiles when you shop, whether online shopping Avios are awarded when you go through the BA online shopping is a bit hit and miss.
Sometimes I get email confirmation but most of the time not.
I have tried to claim for missing Avios but either they claim that there has been an issue with my clicking, or they refuse to award.
If you appeal to the actual supplier it depends on their willingness to get involved - again hit and miss.
Claiming from Avios is like getting blood out of a stone!
Caveat emptor!
The date below was for a Go Compare offer but a recent purchase (1/2/25) from Ninja has not yet been acknowledged.
Avoid at all cost
Avoid at all cost. I booked a car via Avois Rewards. Paid in cash to collect the points. I had to cancel. Got approval from Avios (have transcript). No refund. Have been on phone for 2hrs, provided with 4 different numbers. And have come full circle. No one seems able to help me. "We have no access to Avios systems".
My advice: stop with Avios. Never any flights available. Impossible customer service. Book directly with car rental companies. Points are not worth the effort.

It looks like they dont reply but here you go..
Hi help needed,Avios account was hacked and our 12200 points were transfered to IBPL I am guessing for flights. This happened whilst we were looking at booking flights with a companion voucher..Saturday 25th Jan.
At the same time our outlook was flooded with spam emails, the idea is to make you miss any BA emails which we didn't see as it ran into the thousands.
We contacted BA Executive Club but the lady didn't seem to grasp the situation. They did say our email had been changed and took our details but we have not recieved any communication since, my guess is they are going to this new email.
Looking online it seems this is a regular occurring problem with Avios points..
Can someone advise please..
I can't see why they don't upgrade their security this scam/data breach has been going on for years!
EDIT: True to their word they investigated and we got All our points back and scammers were reported to police and their Flight tickets were cancelled.
If I could give zero I would
If I could give zero I would. Avios used to be good and worth, now they are just absolute scam.
The price of the ticket to Antigue without avoid is around £1000 for 2, and with precious Avios is 48300 avoid plus £1050. How is this even possible?
Shall we scrap flying with BA at all? When did you get that pathetically cheap to cheat loyal flyers?
Finally I know I got free flight hidden.
I have been using since 2019 and never log in to the executive club so I don’t know I have 3 expired companion vouchers but all the points I have been collected were still there. So book a return flight for our family of 5 for £5.
If you have a card and never log in like me. Just go to look at your statement online your executive club membership number is on there and go on British airways website to log in with forget password. Check your email and finish the process then you might find a surprise like me.
Non-existent customer service
Non-existent customer service. If there was 0 stars this would be more appropriate. I have not been able to log in to my Avios account since getting an AMEX card. This has been going on for 6 months. I have spent hours on the phone to them to be told the same thing over and over - wait and try again in 5 days. I have sent 5 complaints in and have had no response or any sort of attempt at resolving my issue. The reason you get an AMEX card is to create points that can be used, but if you cannot access the points it is a complete scam. I will be cancelling my card and never using BA or Avios ever again. Disgraceful service from a supposedly reputable company.
Hi I use amex credit card through the…
Hi I use amex credit card through the offer I purchased the item its more then 7months still now I did not get the offer avios points still missing avios online raised several email and phone calls nothing they wont take complaint as well very bad customer service they just do more on advertisement even if you want to buy avios offer ticket on peak time its always expensive seems all fake APR for credit card is so high they make money through merchant and customer.
Avios account hacked
Avios account hacked. 150,000 points stolen. BA says they would investigate in 2 weeks. It’s now been a month. I’ve heard nothing and I can’t access my account.
Awful
Awful - shows no availability at any time. The ba site keeps wanting to use my companion voucher even though I check do not use vouchers... a nightmare trying to find any actual availability, horrible UI. My Avios are worthless to me.
BA Avios is the biggest scam ever
BA Avios is the biggest scam ever.
You collect for example 70,000 points and there is NEVER any availability, but if there is, the cost is usually the same as the online cost WITHOUT Avios.
Pointless rewards and a SCAM!!
Terribly disappointing Avios customer service…
Terribly disappointing customer service by British Airways
Very poor IT security system on the account with bulk of Avios points going missing without any explanation or support by customer service. More than 3 months and they have still not even gotten back to register, support or explain a fraudulent activity when I lost 100,000 points in October 2024.
I would agree with most reviews so far and
I would not advise anyone to invest in avios points
Deserves less than 1 star!
Deserves less than 1 star!! I booked a hotel through BA executive AVIOS rewards and realised after paying for the hotel, that the name had defaulted to Mrs instead of Mr for my booking.
I tried to call Avios and BA and ask for it to be amended, thinking as it's a hotel, it should be fairly easy.
However, I called the contact number on the email and they said they couldn't help me and gave me another number to call. Called that number and they said I should be calling the original number. Called the original number back and spoke with someone else and they said that there has been some confusion with the 6 digit booking references and mine was longer than 6, so I had to call yet another number. But she assured me that this number was the one that would definitely help me, as she had used it before.
Called the new number and low and behold, they wanted a 6 digit booking reference, not the one that I had been sent on my email! They said that they are the commercial line and that I should be calling the original number to help, even though I had called that twice before and been told no!!!
I had had enough of sitting on the phone for over an hour and promptly cancelled my booking with Avios and used another popular hotel booking site.
What a complete farce!!!! Won't be booking with them again using the AVIOS rewards website.
Definitely don't recommend!!
Impossible to transfer my points to…
Impossible to transfer my points to Abios, system doesn’t work. All they seem to care about is collecting data.
