No attempt to contact and arrange delivery was made.
They had a massive data breach where full payment details (card numbers and security codes etc) were stolen from customers, including me. Will not shop there again until they have more secure alternative payment methods (eg they do not offer PayPal).

I would rate them five stars as the product and pricing is spot on, however, on the two occasions I ordered I was very, very, specific about the need to be contacted 24 hours ahead of delivery. The first time, I had a phone call 30 mins beforehand... so I chalked that up as a ‘one off’. I was assured, when placing second, larger order, that... as branch manager... he’d ensure I get that notification. So I got home today to find my drive full of bulk bags of pebbles.... when I’m expecting another delivery tomorrow. At 8pm... what chance do I have to single handed deal with 850kg bags of pebbles?? So, don’t be fooled by the assurance of them being able to simply phone you once they have scheduled their deliveries.... as they clearly won’t. If not for this I’d give a higher rating and buy from them again but given the hassle I have ahead of me tomorrow.... I’ll go elsewhere in future.

Unfortunately I've got to join the multiple other people who has had the misfortune to encounter the rude staff at AWBS Oxford.

I've used them a few times and staff have been a bit hit and miss, sometimes helpful sometimes rude.
Unfortunately they excelled themselves recently after telling me they had put items aside to collect I made the journey to find they had sold them without explanation. The staff member completely uninterested and rude bordering on aggressive. Refused to take any responsibility or apologise because it was 'just turf'.

Felt a bit like dealing with a petulant child.

Mistakes happen but being rude and unhelpful is harder to justify.
I try to support a local business where possible but there are plenty other more professional companies that will be getting my business.

Telephoned to pick up a half ton bag of gravel in my estate car. Was told that they would not load into a car. When I asked why they said it was “not safe and they would be liable if there was an accident”.

Then asked to speak with the manager to find out why it was “not safe” and spoke with Adrian White, who is the MD, owner and general big cheese.

Mr White must have been having a bad already as he was unbelievably rude and aggressive and, no doubt, frustrated, as he was unable to explain to me the difference between a small van and an estate car in terms of their load carrying capacity. “It’s not going to happen and I’m not continuing this conversation”

The payload for my car is over 500kg and it has a tailgate so it is just like, you guessed it ... a van.

The diktats resulting from Mr Whites irrational differentiation between vehicle types and payloads only shows poor understanding and communication skills.

I will not be dealing with this company again - customer care costs nothing.

Bought railway sleepers, arrived on time and as advertised.

Excellent service during lockdown.

ordered fence panels. arrived 1 day earlier than expected. all good.

Excellent service and good prices. Could be a little clearer about when they will deliver but it is usually pretty quick.

Used AWBS on and off over the past 10 years and always had a good experience with them.

Recently had a construction project at my property and left some of the materials to the last minute. Despite the goods being sent from different locations, they managed to amalgamate them and get them to me within 2 days. The driver was excellent with the offloading and considerate to my needs as well as the neighbours

There was one occasion where I misread the promotion on the website and ripped myself off. I explained what happened to the guys in the office when I went to collect and the refunded me for the order and sold them to me at the promotional rate.

I would always recommend them as a company to friends.

Following receipt and confirmation of my order the online status was updated to 'We will deliver when in area'. Two weeks went by without delivery or any contact whatsoever so I called the branch up and the person I spoke to couldn't have sounded more disinterested in what I took to be quite a delay. After another week and a half it finally got delivered.

Price was good but really let down by the delivery and customer service.

"Having decided on a MAJOR garden revamp to accommodate our newly ordered Summerhouse Pod we set about looking for a competent landscaper with ideas and the necessary skill to make it all work. We’d been aware of AWBS for a while so thought we’d give them a shot.
Brian Proffit , their ‘specifier’ and Project Manager (to refer to him as a Salesman would do him an injustice!) came to discuss our requirements and quote. He was incredibly helpful and demonstrated the breadth of experience that AWBS clearly have. We agreed our specification in October 2018 with an agreed start date of April 1st, 2019.
We’d decided on Bradstone Aspero porcelain paving in Graphite with a number of refining features. We were very aware that a product of this quality and cost required a high standard of workmanship.
The guys from AWBS started on 1st April as planned. Dominic headed their team - lovely chap with very high standards. Everyone we encountered from AWBS was incredibly pleasant and extremely professional. They were tidy, well organised and fastidious. We were involved every step of the way. It was a brilliant experience for us as we felt totally confident in AWBS.
We are left with a superb garden which, to be honest, neither of us could fault in any way. Best company we have ever used for anything!

What a find. Looked everywhere for patio sandstone and found it local to me in Oxford. Showroom is outdoor showing all their stone laid and weathered - exactly as it will be once down, so no imagination required. Price was very competitive and that a £32 tub of epoxy grout was included was a nice surprise.
Stones arrived on time within a week of order on the day agreed. Once the packs were unpacked over 2 weekends 3 of the largest stones had cracked in transport. AWBS email arrived back on a Sunday, immediately agreeing to replace the stones which arrived prior to the following weekend as requested. Great value, even better service.

I bought from AWBS as they are a local business to me and competitively priced, my bulk bag was delivered next day even with a special delivery option due to my restricted access driveway. recommended highly, thank you AWBS :)
