We had an absolutely outstanding hiking…

We had an absolutely outstanding hiking trip in the Atlas Mountains and to the summit of Toubkal. Everything was perfectly organized from start to finish, and the whole experience exceeded our expectations.

Our guide Muhammed was exceptional: knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and always attentive to the group’s needs. He made us feel safe and supported throughout the trek while also sharing insights about the mountains, local culture, and the route.

The planning and organization were flawless. Every detail was handled smoothly, from logistics and timing to accommodation and pacing of the hike. It was clear that a lot of care had gone into making the trip both enjoyable and stress-free.

The food was also excellent throughout the journey: fresh, delicious, and plentiful. After long days of hiking, the meals were especially appreciated and added so much to the overall experience.

Reaching the summit of Toubkal was unforgettable, and having such a well-organized team behind the trip made it even more special. I would highly recommend Aztat treks.

A challenging and magical experience

My daughter and I had a week in Morocco - three days' trekking in the low Atlas and four in Marrakech. A private tour, just the two of us.

I cannot speak highly enough of our guide, Mustafa and muleteer/cook Mohammed. It was challenging walking and Mustafa was an excellent guide, looking after us very well when it became very windy. Mohammed cooked amazing lunches on the trails - hot, delicious and very filling! Breakfast and dinner were also very good.

We were transferred smoothly from the airport to Imlil, staying in Daar Adaar, which was warm, comfortable and welcoming. The second night was in a very basic gite, but we were warm in bed, with extra blankets found for us. Night three was in a wonderful eco lodge.

We walked 51 km over the three days - nearly all uphill or down on very varied terrain! Prepare to encounter stones, sticky mud or slidy gravel under your boots - this is not a route for trainers! (But then we are hardy Scots...) There had been a lot of rain and some flash floods, so Mustafa had to adjust the routes accordingly. The mountains were so beautiful, varied and interesting - we weren't bored for a minute.

We were then transferred to the beautiful Riyad Daar Housina in Marrakech, which was extremely comfortable with a gorgeous bathroom and enjoyed exploring the city, managing to avoid the scooters and donkey carts sharing the alleys with us!

As well as the better known tourist sites, we visited the Museum of Photography which has wonderful historic B&W photos of Morroco's people.

(FYI, we are 46 and a fit 76, used to walking up hills)

Mt Toubkal

We climbed Mt Toubkal with Aztat Treks. The tour guides Mustapha and Abdou were amazing! They were so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Their high spirits would put anyone in a good mood. Nothing was too much to ask for!
The trip was very well organised, food and accommodation spot on, we will definitely be back!
