Poor Communications and unprofessional
Update: Update: Closing was at 11am and as of 3:30 they still haven't funded the seller proceeds. We contacted the President Kenneth Igwe and his was response was "All, Please remove me from this email chain." Tomorrow is a bank holiday so I don't know if we're going to get paid today or at all?
I wasn’t the borrower; I’m the seller working with the buyer’s lender, Baker Collins & Co. I’ve stayed closely involved in the process because I’m scheduled to leave the country for three weeks and wanted to make sure the closing was completed before my departure.
Unfortunately, communication with Maureen Lewis has been more difficult than it should have been. Simple questions — such as whether the office would even be open on Veterans Day — went unanswered for days or were met with vague responses and, at times, dismissive remarks like “I’m not the owner.” What should have been a two-minute confirmation turned into an unnecessary back-and-forth over several days.
I understand that Baker Collins handles a large volume of closings and that everyone’s busy. Still, professionalism means taking responsibility and providing clear, timely answers — especially when a client’s or seller’s transaction is on the line. We still haven’t closed, and that lingering uncertainty isn’t something anyone wants heading into a major financial transaction.
