Terrible Claims Process and Unfair Policy Termination – Avoid Balunos!

I had Balunos insurance for about 3 years, with minimal claims during the first year. Two years ago, my dog developed an ear infection, which led to significant medical expenses, including multiple surgeries, over 1.5 years. Balunos took more than a year to assess the claims and then arbitrarily grouped all related treatments into one case (which I do not agree with), citing internal guidelines. This decision severely limited the coverage under their "per-case" policy, resulting in a refund that barely covered 30% of the total costs I incurred during those 2 years.

They even tried to avoid paying entirely by using a vague comment from a vet about a potential relation to allergies—an irrelevant excuse. Only after months of fighting did they finally reimburse me, but far below the actual expenses.

To make matters worse, Balunos used the situation as an excuse to cancel my policy entirely, leaving me without protection for future expenses. Now, every condition they partially covered will be excluded by other insurers, making it nearly impossible to find suitable coverage.

Their handling of claims was slow, frustrating, and unfair. They failed to provide meaningful support when it was most needed and abandoned me and my dog when the situation became inconvenient for them. I strongly advise against trusting Balunos for your pet insurance.

Stay away afap

Strong against using this pet insurance for your little. I claimed the insurance case on balunos website since 05.2023. At that time, they showed up to maximal 6 months waiting time. I fully understand and agree. But until now 15 months passed I am still on the waiting list without any updates. I sent many emails and made calls, and can only receive general responses and usually got non replyed. Interestingly, balunos did nothing with my insurance case, but increased my monthly fee since this month. Under our primary contract, I am not 100% sure whether this action should be legal or not. I made the insurance from Check24 and asked them to contact balunos. No answer as well. I am fully frustrated and mad with this insurance company. I am considering legal action if I do not receive my payment soon. Stay away from it if you dont want to get the same mess.

Stay Away from Balunos Insurance

I would strongly advise against using Balunos Insurance. I have their Gold Plan subscription, and my experience is frustrating. It has been over 8 months since I filed a claim in August 2023, and I am still waiting for any payment. Their customer service is appalling; I only receive generic responses to my emails, and they never answer their phone. I am considering legal action if I do not receive my payment soon. Avoid this company if you can.
