Unsafe and Misleading Admission Practices

I arranged for a friend to attend a 28-day detox at Banbury Lodge. From the start, there were serious issues with their procedures:

I, as the payer/funder, was required to sign a DocuSign contract for admission, but was never informed of this until after payment.

Despite this, the patient was admitted without my signature, contrary to Banbury Lodge’s own stated procedure.

The DocuSign email contained legally inaccurate language, suggesting that non-response constitutes acceptance — this is not valid under UK contract law (Felthouse v Bindley, 1862).

Verbal representations during the phone call about refunds and unused days contradicted the small-print terms in emails and their T&Cs, which are not clearly available publicly.

They allowed the patient to leave prematurely without proper support, raising serious safety concerns.

In short, the service was misrepresented, procedurally unsafe, and confusing regarding who the contracting parties actually are. I would not recommend relying on Banbury Lodge for alcohol detox, and I would caution anyone to request full clarity on their admission process, T&Cs, and any medication before payment.
