Have had difficulty connecting…
Have had difficulty connecting Banktivity with my bank. Banktivity insists that it is the bank, the bank insists that it is Banktivity. It is very hard to get anything other than "chat" from Banktivity help. Right now, I am still disconnected and am looking for a different banking software for my Mac.

iBank4 vs Banktivity9
What I don't like about Banktivity9
1. Reports on the sidebar do not show totals, you have to click on them to open and view. iBank4 shows them all while closed. B9 shows account totals but not reports.
2. Why have both memos and notes in B9 if you don't show memos until you open the transaction. The transaction line is much better in iB4. Better graphics overall too.
3. Split transactions are wonky in B9 if you don't know or forget to click the correct half circle necessitating going back in to fix it. iB4 is less prone to error.
4. The report selection fields could be better with all fields to choose from.
5. I use future transaction dates a lot. iB4 displays them graphically better than B9.
6. I do like the calendar.
Excellent customer support from Banktivity
I have always found Banktivity support staff extremely knowledgeable, efficient and helpful. I have had a few issues lately that required dealing with and was most impressed with the assistance I received, which resolved my issues.
Many people only write when there is a complaint, but I feel it is appropriate to include praise where praise is due.
Unacceptable problems with bank connections
I've been using Banktivity for 6+ years. However, I have had increased problems with connecting with my bank via Yodlee. Now I just can't get it to download anything. Manually exporting from my bank (qfx) and importing into Banktivity is TERRIBLE. And, it doesn't apply any import rules with categories. This is not acceptable and I'll be looking for different financial software. I'm not paying ~$100 a year for a program that does not do what I need.
Over 10 years of using and +25 years of data…
I’ve been using the software for over 10+ years with +25 years of data entries. It fulfils my statistical mind and love how to analyse the data to see how to eke out the most from what I earn and what my business makes.
I stupidly put the main file in the wrong place at one point (don’t put it in cloud storage, e.g. Dropbox, OneDrive, etc) and it corrupted the file. Yes, Banktivity did say not to do this, but I was stupid. Luckily, I was able, with tech support from Nicole at Banktivity, restore a file with 98% of the data in it. I’m extremely thankful to Nicole for helping me out and getting my data back. My punishment for my stupidity is to having to enter 8 months of data in 8 accounts. Will take me a while, but I’m glad I can carry on with my stats.
If you want to keep track of your finances, Banktivity is the software for you. Make sure you read ALL the developers warning and suggestions so you have the best experience using the software.
Big Time Sink
I started using Banktivity in 2014 after switching to Mac and after using Quicken for Windows for 15 years. At that time it was the best game in town for Mac finical software but I had a much better experience with Quicken for Windows. Banktivity never really improved that much and never really connected to my accounts that well. The biggest problem was the downloaded transactions as way too much time was spent correcting errors. The interface is OK but could have been better and it is next to useless for tracking investments. In hind sight I almost would have been as well off entering transactions into a spreadsheet. Finally this year, I had enough and bit the bullet and moved to the improved Quicken for Mac, which after one month seems to be working pretty good. However, the transfer of my Banktivity data to the QIF file made a mess of my data that took me 40 hours over 4 weeks to clean up.
I switched from Quicken to Banktivity
I switched from Quicken to Banktivity. It's not perfect but fits my needs. I use it for basic purchase software for taxes not budgeting or any of the fancy stuff Quicken offers.
And NOT paying monthly is really important.
I had an issue in which my desktop version and my smartphone version syncing.
I had an issue in which my desktop and smartphone didn't sync properly (a sudden occurrence). I did a chat with tech support. The person who helped me was marvelous. The solution was basically simple, but not intuitive (help was necessary). The tech walked me through the steps, addressed the problem, made sure all was in order and helped with another minor problem that we noticed when working together. I've been a big fan of Banktivity for many years. This situation further cemented my appreciation.
I give up on Banktivity
I’ve been using Banktivity for years, but the last 2-years, it has consistently screwed up my account balances. Whereas previous versions had no issues identifying which transactions should be assigned to my multiple AMEX or Visa accounts, it’s as if they are assigned randomly. This is now perhaps the fourth or fifth time I’m having to manually reconcile many accounts. Customer service is virtually non existent. I’d be better off going with a spreadsheet.
Great Financial Record Keeping App
Banktivity is a solid contender when comes to keeping all kinds of financial data; checking and savings accounts, investments of many kinds, etc. I'm very happy with the application and even more impressed by the customer service. All around a great product made by a great group of people.

chat was fast and informative with a human being!
chat was fast and informative, solved my problem very quickly. Marcie was excellent. Much better chatting with a human than a bot.
Banktivity and Their Customer Support is Excellent
My wife and I have been happily using Banktivity (previously known as iBank) since 2004. We are able to share our current and historical data using all of our Apple devices – Macs, iPads, and iPhones.
Today, I had a query about deleting a scheduled transaction. I connected with Banktivity's chat feature and was quickly assisted by Nicole. She was pleasant, professional, and answered my question quickly. She also provided me with insight as to what the result would be of selecting each of the two delete options.
I definitely give Banktivity 5 stars both for ease of use, and customer support!
I love Banktivity and have used it for years
I love Banktivity and have used it for several years. I had a problem today and went to "live chat," and I am so thankful that Nicole "answered." Nicole was amazing and even "took over my computer" to resolve my problems. She is truly amazing!!! I would give Nicole and Banktivity 10 stars if I could!!
I love the app much more than Quicken…
I love the app much more than Quicken and their customer service is so good, thoughtful, patient and helpful it's hard to evaluate. All you get is 5 Stars but I'd go 6 easy
Great App and Support Staff is Excellent
Like many others who have given reviews, I, too, have been a customer of Banktivity for many years. Not only is it a tool that I rely on virtually every day to track and manage every transaction for all my banking; but more importantly, it's their support staff that has brought me here today. If there's an issue with the app, or more likely, something I haven't done correctly, they have the patience and understanding to walk me through it and respond to make sure it's been done correctly.
Banktivity user for 8+ Years
I've been a Banktivity user for 8+ years. I can't imagine using another product. My 2 macs and phone are all in sync all the time. Fantastic product.
Today I had an issue with direct connect that was solved in minutes. Thanks to Nicole.
I love Banktivity!!
I love Banktivity!!! It filled a huge hole when Quicken gave up on Mac, and since then it has continually improved in features, service, and support. Their online chat support is excellent! Sometimes I wish it were phone support, but the chat feature forces me to think through the process of defining and succinctly explaining the problem plus I can request a digital copy of our online chat for future reference, so really that is better than voice support. I do wish they would extend their chat hours; maybe that will happen someday.
Thank you to everyone at IGG who produces such a stellar product!!!!
Nicole the support helper
Support person, Nicole, was very helpful and knowledgeable. I was able with her help to get important changes to have a still better experience with Banktivity
Outstanding Customer Service Just Received from "Nicole"
I just received outstanding customer service from Nicole with Banktivity. Nicole helped me with an issue that needed special attention to detail and careful instructions for me thought the process. Nicole was not only very patient with me, but also very knowledgeable about the processes needed to accomplish what I needed with my software and the devices to which I am using that software. I am so grateful for her help and assistance. Would that all companies had Customer Service Representatives as competent, patient, knowledgeable, and helpful as Nicole. It was such a pleasure to work with her thought this process. Thank you so very much, Nicole (and Banktivity), for providing me such an outstanding customer service experience today.
Comprehensive yet intuitive ...
It's a comprehensive yet reasonably intuitive product that I couldn't live without for tracking my spending, planning cash flow, record keeping, and more. An interaction with a customer service agent via chat today was as good as talking to an agent via the phone: friendly, patient, clear, and helpful.
