As soon as I put in an ad for carpet cleaning I had contractors contact me with competitive prices and offers.
Pre-visit contact was great and on the day they arrived on time with minimal problems. The chap was friendly and knowledgable and great service.

I understand that it was only about 12 days out from the service that I was looking to have but to only receive 1 response is ridiculous. The last time I used this service, I received numerous replies. I went with another service app because the options I had were not there through your app.

THE LEADS ARE DEAD ON ARRIVAL

Bark will happily take your money and send you a steady stream of "leads" — but don't be fooled. By the time you've paid your credits and made contact, the customer has either moved on, never existed, or simply can't be bothered to pick up the phone. Calls go unanswered. Emails ignored. Messages left on read. You're essentially paying good money to shout into the void.

The leads arrive looking promising — a name, a job description, a location. But time and again, tradespeople across the UK report that the vast majority of enquiries go absolutely nowhere. No response, no callback, nothing. You've spent your credits and you've got nothing to show for it.

THE CREDITS SYSTEM IS A TRAP

Here's how the sting works. You buy credits upfront — real money out of your pocket. You spend those credits chasing leads that don't respond. Then you ask Bark for a refund because the lead was clearly a dead end. And they say no.

It doesn't matter that the customer never replied. It doesn't matter that the phone number didn't work. It doesn't matter that you did everything right. Bark's position is simple: once the credit is spent, it's gone. No refund, no goodwill, no accountability.

NO REFUNDS, NO RECOURSE

Complain and you'll be met with a wall of copy-paste responses and customer service that goes round in circles. They'll tell you the lead met their criteria for release. They'll tell you the credit return policy doesn't apply. They'll tell you to try again next time. What they won't do is give you your money back.

For tradespeople operating on tight margins, this isn't just frustrating — it's a genuine financial hit.

THE VERDICT

Bark.com's entire business model relies on you spending credits on leads that go nowhere, then refusing to refund you when they do. It is a poor deal dressed up in a slick website. Your marketing budget deserves better.

Avoid.

Lucy Cohen (Lucy in the Garden} came on 19th and the 21st January 2026

Lucy Cohen (Lucy in the Garden} came twice for 2 x6 hours a day. I was really pleased with her and she did a wonderful job, very professional but she felt it was a bit to far to travel on a weekly basis. About the same time Gema Gardening came to see the garden and accepted the job but this experience was just the opposite. What she actually said she would do didn't really happen in reality. The garden looked worse than when she started and was left in a terrible mess. All the slate removed from the garden has just been left at the side of the house. She always wanted paying up front which I don't usually do. I have paid out £4,850 and can see little for it. No invoices, receipts for the money she had received by cheque apart from the first one. This experience has really got to me,
It is 1 star for Gem Gardening and 5star for Lucy in the Garden.
