Fabulous Gardens. Disappointing Tea Rooms.

The gardens are fabulous and well worth a visit. Pricey at £15 but OK if you have a 2 for 1 voucher. What let's it down is the tea room. We had afternoon tea booked. We were met by a pleasant member of staff who told us that a piece of cake was part of the afternoon tea. He asked us to choose from the selection and then apologised that there was not much choice as they had been busy. They knew we were coming and should have kept cakes back for us. The sandwiches were fine. The sausage roll was like something from a supermarket. The scones were the driest I have ever experienced. I took the rocky road home and my partner said it was the worst he had ever had. The Eton mess was delicious. At £21.95 pp, it was a major disappointment and has put me off visiting again as you are unable to eat a picnic in the gardens and I would not want to eat at the tea room again.
