Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the quality of the products, frequently mentioning issues like rotten vegetables, a lack of expected ingredients such as fish or meat, and an unpleasant taste described as watery or peppery. People also felt that the products offered poor value for money, especially given the perceived decline in quality compared to previous experiences. Very poor quality and taste!

I don't normally buy this brand as I think it's grossly over priced! Much better quality products on the supermarket shelves for a lot less money. However I was pushed to use one of the 24hour outlets, and so thought the Chicken Broth thinking it would be a treat! What an unbelievable let down! Horrid! Watery, thin, tasteless! What more can I say. Obviously reading all the other reviews on here about the products I'm not surprised now. Thought they were supposed to be a top brand, and well loved! I can see a once fine and cared for institution has fallen great depths and has become one of the many British disasters of our times. You'd have thought with over two thirds of reviews being negative the management might actually care a little. Oh well a first and a last time for me, definitely won't be bothering again!

Quantity Over Quality

Just terrible seems to be quantity over quality with all products, Audrey has really let this once great brand go down the toilet. So sad to hear about a once great scottish institution.
Knowing a few people that work at the factory with not a nice thing to say about baxters higher management and the bully mentality they carry out.
So so sad! When I drive past I always think of how great Baxters soup, jams and chutneys etc. we're. It's a simple fix Happy workforce good product. Come Audrey "MAKE BAXTERS GREAT AGAIN"

Fray Bentos cheese and onion pie

I have just tried the Fray Bentos cheese and onion pie. To say I am disappointed is an understatement, lots of pastry, not a lot of filling, more potato than anything else, very small pieces at that, not cheesy at all. It’s more like potato and cream sauce pie and it’s supposed to be improved flavour as well so it says on the tin so I dread to think of what it was like before, I won’t be trying another one, waste of money!

Dear Reader,Just to update you on my…

Dear Reader,Just to update you on my dispute with Baxters Fray bentos ,something dramatic has happened and can only be achieved by powerful people.
You,ll recall that you can contact any CEO by simple typing their namd as CEO of a particular company.
Well that’s how I found the CEO of Baxters food and lodged my complaint.
Well today that Power has convinced that website to remove CEOs names and now you have to pay to find a CEO.
The boss of Baxter’s food want to shut down consumer feedback,so I have a cunning plan and will hold this company to account,
If anyone else want to get involved please advise.

This product doesn’t deserve any stars

This product doesn’t deserve any stars. It’s the worst mint sauce I’ve ever had, totally ruining a much anticipated roast lamb meal. It’s like having spearmint toothpaste on your meat and the texture isn’t right either. Tried adding vinegar and other things to try to improve it but nothing would get rid of the vile taste. Expect more from Baxter’s and according to the amount of similar complaints, am surprised it’s still being manufactured. Need to get rid of your product taster!!!!!

steak stains in fray bentos pies and puddings march 2022 and now cost £2 and all the heating costs too what a waste of fuel..

has anybody ever tried to contact. these people.
i bought 3 fray bentos steak and kidney pies from a supermarket ....
i opened 2 tins..put them in the oven for 40 mins
taken them out to make a tea..i lifted the pastry there was no meat in both of them at all just brown gravy.i only paid a £1.for each but thats not the point..i wasted expensive gas..and my time i had to go to the chippy...
what rubbish this company is allowed to put on the supermarket shelfs.......
nobody can afford to waste expensive gas on these gravy pastry pies.
truly shocking way to treat the public..
i tried contact them through their website.but the just ignored me.
these use to be a tasty quick meal..at one time.....
but trying to contact them is impossible..
i will think twice about buying a baxters product

still not heard a peep from these cowboys.....

update..i opened up the last steak pie and videod it all..guess what..nothing in side just a gravy stain...not heard a word from these clowns,,as yet but its only been 2 weeks now
can you imagine if there was a serious problem..with this food company.
you cannot contact them ..eitherwaym
a shocking way to conduct business..
its been a month now ..and still no reply from these clowns.
hope you dont get any of these products over the xmas.
you will be totally dissapointed, but the worst thing is they wont
recongnise they are at any fault......september..2020
update october they put the price up to £1.50
for a stake stained pie now..
plus the waste of gas and electricity..
better to go the chippy save you a fortune.12th october 2020,.,.
update they have now got a new recipe of pie out
its a bigger steak stain..still no meat in it.
i tried one today didnt bother to cook it..
worst thing about baxters is they refuse to discuss anything, they bury their head in the sand,
and watch their reputation slide....
UPDATE,,
they have suppose to put 33% more meat in with the stain..and charge £1.49 now............
but i m not wasting any more money on them..
best thing is for them to go back to the start..like they were..charge £3 so nobody is dissapointed, and dont waste good gas or electricity.
because they dont have a customer service.
nothing will change,, they now have a new improved recepie..how can you improve on a steak stain..a steak stain in a tin..for £1.49 how these got a half of star i can never know// it seems they dont read the reviews may 2021
still no meat in these pies just gravy..
GOING TO BUY ANOTHER PIE TO SEE IF THEY PUT SOME MEAT IN IT COS ITS 50P MORE NOW.LETS SEE..ok got another pie with cost 50p more ..and yet again wasted my gas..a spoonful of gravy.the pastry was also not as good. what a waste of gas.update march 2022..i also tried steak stained puddings too.
now £2 for a tin of gravy good look with this one
with the cost of enegy at its highest prices.

Fray Bentos steak and kidney pies…

I recently bought 2 Fray Bentos steak and kidney pies on the grounds that the tin promised "New More Meat". The first one was largely gravy. Later I tried the second one. The same but this time I counted. After searching I found 4 pieces of identifiable meat, each a bit smaller than a sugar cube. Never, ever again.

Fray Bentos Pie Tin - Unsafe

Don’t waste your money on Fray Bentos pies in tins anymore as they are impossible to open safely. Broken 3 tin openers on them and injured my hand in the process. Totally unsafe product and in this day and age a ring pull version should be produced. Get out of the dark ages and sort this issue before someone gets seriously hurt. Won’t be buying again until issue resolved.

This mint sauce is worst I have ever…

This mint sauce is worst I have ever tried. Tastes like toothpaste. Truly not edible. Haven’t been able to find any other brands and simple enough to make so guess I’ll have to go that route. Do not buy this product unless you want to flush 7 dollars down the toilet. So disappointed.

Revolting taste…

I could not believe the revolting taste and smell of the mint sauce I bought recently. Absolute waste of money for something that hit the dustbin really quickly. Reading comments below peppermint toothpaste and mouthwash are unfortunately spot on.

Baxter's Pea and Ham Soup - Where are the peas and ham?

As we are shortly moving house we bought a tin of Baxter's pea and ham soup. There was absolutely no taste of peas or ham - the over-riding taste was of artificial flavourings, not pleasant at all. When I looked at the label the ham content was listed as "Smoked Bacon (3.5%)(Pork, Salt, Preservative (Sodium Nitrite). I fail to understand how something that constitutes 3.5% of the ingredients qualifies for pride of place on the label.

The new improved recipe Baxter’s Mint…

The new improved recipe Baxter’s Mint Sauce is revolting. It has a horrible chemical and toothpaste taste and ruined our beautiful rack of lamb. There was nothing wrong with the old recipe! The new jar will go straight in the bin and I will be making my own fresh mint sauce in future.
