Avoid Beds R Us Warners Bay NSW – Dismissive, Coercive, and Unaccountable

I purchased 2 × SleepMaker Pure Balance Recapture Plush mattresses (now firm) from Beds R Us, Warners Bay, in September 2024 for $3700. Both mattresses sagged and caused worsening back pain within a year, and one side of our split king dropped 30/40mm, clear bends and sinking in the mattresses where sold as adjustable bed mattresses, making the bed completely unusable as a king bed and not suitable for adjustable beds.
SleepMaker inspected the mattresses under warranty and found no manufacturing fault, which is their assessment, in my view not assessed as they should have been ....side by side. One line saying no fault. However, I provided evidence and photos and they have the mattresses. Beds R Us Warners Bay, refused a refund, repeatedly citing they were ‘bound’ by the manufacturer’s report, ignoring my rights under Australian Consumer Law. The retailer also threatened storage fees and demanded I must take the mattresses back, applying coercion instead of resolving a legitimate consumer complaint.
Under Australian Consumer Law, consumers are entitled to remedies for major failure, unacceptable quality, or unfit goods. Two failed mattresses in a year is unacceptable by any standard, yet the retailer showed no accountability, no care, in this matter ensuring he was not out of pocket by any means. Let alone the attempt to coerce acceptance of defective goods or impose storage responsibility are inconsistent with consumer rights.

Rectification was previously attempted and failed. The retailer has shown complete disregard for duty of care, professionalism, and the serious health impacts caused by these mattresses and within 1 year major issues??? This has been a nightmare experience: stressful, dismissive, coercive, and entirely avoidable. Beds R Us 'Warners Bay' cannot be trusted to honour consumer rights or provide basic duty of care.
If you value honesty, accountability, and consumer rights, avoid Beds R Us Warners Bay entirely.

Soft and comfy mattress for side sleeper

The retailer was knowledgeable and helped me decide on the right mattress and base for my needs. I bought a Comfort For You ultra plush because I get hip pain in other beds from sleeping on my side. This bed is so comfortable and supportive for my back and hips. Whether I’m sleeping on my back or side this is so comfy. It has a deep wall so might be a good idea to buy fitted sheets from the same shop you buy the bed.

This is a model that’s only sold at Beds R Us and has been around for years. It has some cooling technology (gel) but I run aircon in the summer on really hit nights. I would recommend this bed for anybody who wants a soft feeling bed, but it comes in all the ‘feels’ you would expect anyway.

I am having a better sleep since getting my Comfort For You mattress.
