Would genuinely give 0 stars if I…

Would genuinely give 0 stars if I could.

Came here for my birthday and this place somehow managed to mess up literally everything.

Food arrived stone cold. Not warm. Not “busy kitchen” cold. Just straight up cold like it had been sitting there forever.

Service was beyond awful. My family clearly told staff the birthday cake was a surprise, yet the server loudly asked how many plates we needed for it, completely ruining it. Then, before even bringing the cake out, he announced: “I won’t be singing happy birthday by the way, that’s way above my pay grade.” No one asked. Just attitude for free.

He also openly moaned about having to make two cocktails, like doing his actual job was some huge inconvenience. Wild behaviour.

When the cake finally appeared, he dumped it at the wrong end of the table and refused to bring it to me. Instead, he told my family to move it themselves. On my birthday. After already ruining the surprise. Insane.

To top it all off, every single plate and spoon we were given was dirty. Every. Single. One.

Cold food, dirty dishes, rude staff, zero effort, zero professionalism. This place managed to turn a birthday celebration into a genuinely miserable experience. Do yourself a favour and go literally anywhere else.

1st time here …Not good.

1st time here and only because came with high recommendations.
ordered the stack off the specials card, £19.99.
food came and no bigger than a mac d big mac...tiny coleslaw and about 9 kids smiley face potatoes, not what I'd expect for a £20 plate of food.
Not impressed to say the least.

We have visited the pub for quite a few…

We have visited the pub for quite a few years now and it never fails to make us smile. If its just a few quiet drinks in the wood shed, or like tonight for a cheeky mid week treat. The food is outstanding, service is impeccable, the beer is perfect as always. Keep doing what you doing as its excellent 10 / 10 Andy and Jo

Sunday morning treat

What a lovely Sunday morning! We popped into The Beehive for some breakfast. We were greeted with a very friendly smile, immediately making us feel welcome. We ordered our breakfast, what a treat they were. Good produce, well made, plentiful and all served with that friendly smile.
Thank you for making our Sunday, we will be returning.

1 star not good enough it was my 1st…

1 star not good enough it was my 1st time going here at 6pm I was drinking and I didn't finish my drink. I then got told to move for no reason by a lady because other people wanted to sit there the table wasn't reserved they didn't even bother finding me another table to finish my drink and I wanted to drink more beer. The staff are unprofessional and their attitude was like we don't want you here and basically telling me to leave and go away. I never been treated like this in another bar or pub.

Disappointed the Beehive 2

I visited the Beehive 2 september 2024. I was looking forward to my favourite steak mushroom and ale pie.
I was suprised when it came as part of a plate pie. Not the usual big square deep pie. I at first thought they had changed thd pie. The meat was quite dry it was only when i was leaving I noticed other people had the proper pie. I was very disappointed and will warn people to send the meal back if it from a plate pie.

Great food, gimmicky plating

Been to The Beehive on several occasions and I don't think they know how good their food is, because they keep doing silly things, one of which is serving steak in ale pie in a risotto bowl. The problem is that when you try to cut into the pie it just slides around on the food underneath. This is a pity as the pie is excellent - all too often the wrong type of ale is used leading to a disgusting taste, but not at the Beehive. They also serve that 1970's favourite scampi and chips in a basket. The chips are among the best you will every come across made of freshly cut potatoes and not the heated frozen product. The scampi is sweet and succulent, but the basket? Come on, your food deserves better treatment than this! I had chicken supreme last night and the sauce was beautiful. So, 10 points for quality of the food but nil points for plating.

Food, drink, service. All perfect

Gorgeous pub. Perfect intimate atmosphere. The food was exquisite. Visited twice while we were in town. Everyone of us was blown away by the food. The staff were always at hand and incredibly helpful and super friendly. A wonderful experience. Couldn’t have asked for more. Will definitely revisit when we revisit Whitley Bay

Its not rocket science

Its not rocket science. But many get it totally wrong so its always a delight when you come across a gem like this. Great service, well cooked fresh food, generous portions, cosy surroundings and very reasonable prices. Best to book though - deservedly popular !
