Couldn't get in touch

We've started the process with this company not the easiest to get in touch with they have managed to contact us and refunded our first payment
Due to our sweet luna has had a seizure and died I've edited this review because their response was quick and professional my only criticism would the contact issue but other than that I would probably recommend them

I had my onboarding call on the 6th Feb…

I had my onboarding call on the 6th Feb with Shannon, she was really friendly & helpful. On the 21st Feb I had the 1st consultation with Dr Victoria, who was brilliant, gave me some strategies to help with my dogs anxiety. With in the week she was resting more, sleeping in her own bed & happier for me to move around the room. Still need to work on me leaving the room, but Victoria has already said she has ideas to try

Both their staff and clinician are very…

Both their staff and clinician are very helpful and email assistance came back promptly each time. The plan was clear and prices, and tailored for individual dogs. No long report, so one can jump in and start the process straight away. The videos of training games are very helpful.

Mixed feelings

They were very helpful, I had never used zoom and found it difficult but they helped me through it. The consultation was nothing like I expected, it was all talking, didn't include my dog at all, he didn't even need to be there, I thought it would be much more practical. The advice was clear and comprehensible, but very little that I hadn't already tried, but I admit I had perhaps not persevered as I should. Overall, lovely people but I don't really like the system of doing everything online.

My dog’s primary vet recommended…

My dog’s primary vet recommended Behavet to me. I was a little dubious about the “all online” concept at first, but for mine and my pup’s situation it actually worked really well.

I made an initial enquiry and quickly had a call back from Sam, who was really helpful and talked me through what to expect.

Dr. Lily was our Behavet vet. She spent the first consultation really listening and asking thoughtful follow‑up questions to understand my dog’s general health and behaviour. We then met with her online for two further appointments.

Fortunately, Dr. Lily recommended a combination of medicinal and natural remedies that have worked really well to stop my boy’s “boy issues” from occurring. This was a genuinely important step forward for us, especially as our primary vet hadn’t offered anything similar.

What I appreciated most was that Dr. Lily never judged our situation or expected the world from us when it came to implementing her training techniques. It was such a relief.

Behavet also handled the insurance side of things, which took a big weight off my shoulders. And I know I can approach the team again in the future if I need to.

Excellent service

Dr Victoria was very clear and explained the rationale for all the behavior therapy very succinctly. She listened intently and acknowledged my concerns and I felt she really listened to me. Thank you

Dr Cindy went above and beyond to help…

Dr Cindy went above and beyond to help my puppy and she gave tailored advice and really listened to the concerns. She is very passionate and good at what she does and I am so grateful for the help she provided she really has a love for animals and it shows.

A positive training experience

We had tried behaviourists, classes, online group trainings and much more with no real progress before finding Behavet via Dr Toms Help My Dog podcasts. We were assigned Dr Ellie for our anxious dog who struggles on walks. She devised a plan after an in-depth chat with us and it evolved over time. A big part of her advice was managing our expectations to ensure our walks are calm and in places better suited to our boy. Ellie is enthusiastic, knowledgeable and above all positive and full of ideas. It has renewed our hope and our walks are, in the main, much more fun for us all. We did the 6 month training programme, with a further 6 months to contact Ellie with queries and ask for advice. Would recommend.

Approach with caution

We found Behavet online (not via vet referral) and was assured by the team that as we had "behavior" coverage in our insurance policy these sessions would be covered by insurance. They also told us that they would take care of the claim & set up our sessions.

More than 6 months later, I hear that the insurance company have closed the claim and I have had to do days of admin with the vet, insurance company and Accounting team at Behavet to get the claim re-opened.

Behavet have not made it clear (after asking several times) if I am liable to pay for the sessions we had or if I am liable for getting the insurance coverage - they have put me under a lot of pressure even though their Ts&Cs do not state that this is my responsibility.

Note that this has happened more than 6 months after the sessions. Before this time, I had assumed it was all sorted by them as per their initial comms & advertising.

In summary, the value we got from 2 online sessions was not worth all the hassle I'm now facing in the aftermath and definitely not worth c£1k claim that's gone to the insurance company....I still don't know what will happen if the claim is not successful & if they expect me to cover the cost if the claim is rejected.

I would not recommend or use again.

I'm not sure if you're aware that your insurance company have been trying to reach you, without success, and are unable to move forward without confirmation of a minor detail.

Much of the information provided can be…

Much of the information provided can be found freely online, and email support is not particularly helpful during vet appointments or challenging moments where immediate guidance is needed.
The suggestion to record videos for review is also unrealistic in practice.

Given the cost of a £650 session, we felt it would be better spent on a more comprehensive support package that offers ongoing guidance rather than a standalone consultation.

Please consider that before booking as you can have someone come to your house for much cheaper price and get to know your dog, work with your dog to help them rather than judge them from what you say about them. They never seen my dog , and asked so many irrelevant questions about his poo texture and consistency instead of helping him to be less stressed during annual vaccination... irrelevant..

At Behavet, our team are Veterinarian Behaviourists. They are highly specialised and have worked for many years to achieve the qualifications they have attained over and above their Veterinary qualifications. Veterinarians are also regulated to the highest standards. Our service is not comparable to local dog trainers who are unregulated and unable to interpret medical information or provide specialised behavioural advice.

We do provide a huge amount of free resources online for owners, including webinars, training videos and resources that they can access via their veterinary practices. However, we would always recommend our one-to-one behaviour support packages to avail of the tailored, specific advice that results in meaningful change.

Part of the benefit of consulting with us at Behavet, as opposed to a local unregulated trainer is that we are able to review veterinary and nutrition history when indicated by behavioural symptoms. From reviewing your case, I can see that your Veterinarian Behaviourist began a screening, as we would do with all consultations, due to the gut-brain axis' influences into behaviour - especially those behaviours driven by underlying emotional states, which would fit with your dog's behavioural presentation.

We are sorry to hear that you were unable to provide video and photographic supplementary information to us. This is not a mandatory exercise, but many owners like to provide video and photographs and our Vets are always happy to review these to provide detailed advice for in-the-moment troubleshooting.

I hope that helps to explain the service. I'm really sorry that expectations seem to be a little misaligned here but we wish you all the best with your training journey - if you ever need any further help, we remain available for any help you might need.

Dr Rachel is amazing!

Dr. Rachel was absolutely amazing, tapping into exactly what I was looking for in order to make progress with my dog's struggles. The clinicians at BehaVet have a real talent in working with people struggling with their dogs. Not only do they provide much needed explanations and activities, but they provide a sympathetic approach that really helps me to move forward in a positive way with my dogs.

A Wonderful Service

I wss very impressed with my experience from start to finish. The team were so helpful and efficient from the first point of contact. I was given first class advice from Celyn the vet and was made to feel so comfortable. This us the start of a very important journey for myself and Lottie and it will be so much easier with the wonderful team.

Good experience

Good experience - the vet we spoke to understood our problems and issues and gave us a series of tasks designed to reduce the anxiety, set boundaries and increase the settled state of our dog so that he sleeps for more than the current 8-10 hours a day. We'll see how we go, but the signs are good so far.
