At first professional, then piecemeal

Very much a mixed bag.

We sold our property through BA twice, the first sale having fallen through in January this year and a new sale being secured just days later. No blame can be attached to BA for that first, lost sale. Their sales material was excellent, with very professional photographs and the property details were online within days. They also secured several viewings for us prior to both sales.

However, the after sales attitude of staff at our local branch in Holywell was offhand at best, and our purchase briefly stalled after BA dragged their feet when asked to give the selling agent details of our “chain”, and then having been chased for the information they initially provided wrong/ incomplete details.

This may be a problem which is confined to one branch, because we dealt with the staff at BA in Prestatyn when searching for a property to buy, and they seemed more professional. However I wouldn’t give the company the steam off my porridge in future, let alone over two grand for such a disinterested and apathetic after sales service.

Poor experience selling our property…

Poor experience selling our property through this agency.
We ended up successfully selling through another agency who really put efforts into updating the marketing and keeping us informed.
With Beresford Adams Chester we experienced Poor communication and lack of professionalism when they showed potential buyers around they left our front door unlocked and lights turned on on more than 3 occasions. How is it possible to make the same mistakes so many times?
On one occasion we were present after one of the viewings had taken place and discovered that the agent hadn’t informed the potential buyers of essential selling information such as alternative options for parking.
It really felt like the agents were unmotivated and after completing a few viewings they appeared to lack interest.
Luckily for us the agency that did sell our property were the total opposite to this and the proof was in the pudding as they say as they sold it within a short amount of time.

Poor attitude.

I have been trying to set up an appointment to view a property. My time is limited due to work and childcare commitments, I made this clear from the outset and told them when I could make myself available. In spite of this they kept offering me times I couldn't make and then called me obstructive! Really poor attitude from the call handler from the office covering Holywell.

Making retirement dream come true

We had registered our name with several Estate Agents in North Wales as we were looking to retire to the area and had been unable to find anywhere. Steve at Beresford Adams Porthmadog, called us to say he had a new property on the market which 'ticked all our boxes'. We travelled up from Kent that weekend, viewed the property and fell in love with it. The team at Porthmadog set all the wheels in motion, and we have now been living here for nearly a month. Thank you to all the friendly and helpful staff at Porthmadog.

Bangor lettings team

We spoke to the Bangor lettings team about renting out our property to tenants. I was so impressed when they visited I signed up straight away, and they listed it very quickly. Before I knew it there were 4 viewings booked, and a choice of two great tenants. Inventory was great and they whole setup very straightforward. I really feel like these are the right agents for being fair to both landlords and tenants. Matthew, Lauren and Helen were absolutely fantastic, and always happy to help. Very friendly and professional service from start to finish, and it was a real pleasure dealing with them. As I expand my property portfolio over the coming years Beresford Adams will definitely be my agents of choice.

Everyone I spoke to was very friendly & helpful.
Joseph was dealing with our purchase and he was excellent from the start to finish, he constantly kept us updated as to what was going on and offered help in anyway he could.
Joseph is very friendly, professional & approachable I would most definitely recommend him & the rest of the team at Beresford Adams Mold.

Mismanagement cost me significantly

I used Beresford Adams in Chester as a landlord. I really cant think of anything that they did right to be honest. Cost me significantly at check out times due to them forgetting what was supposed to be checked and photographed. Forgot I had a garden (!) and cost me over 200 pounds to fix it which the tenant should have been liable for according to the contract.

Never carried out mid term inspections which got worse with covid as they took advantage of the situation to do no checks at all. Paid them for full management but constantly had to carry out the services myself which I paid them for.

Went into the office one day to ask for all of the keys back. I had never met anyone who was in the office that day and they handed them over to me without asking my name or for ID!

In the end I asked them to reimburse me for all of the money I incurred during the final check out and they never even called me back after trying for months. My only course of action will now be small claims court.

Disaster of a company. Please use any other agent in Chester, there are plenty to choose from.

We received a fantastic service from…Beresford Adams

We received a fantastic service from Beresford Adams when buying our house. Aimee O'Neill (Beresford Adams Chester) was amazing. She was very knowledgeable, extremely efficient and it was very reassuring to have her there when we purchased our first home, as it was all very new to us! She promptly followed up our queries, found us fantastic mortgage and insurance offers and was a constant source of support and information throughout the whole process. Nothing was too much for her and no question was a silly one! Thank you Aimee. I would highly recommend Beresford Adams when buying or selling a house.

Holywell branch

Holywell branch - avoid!!
At the end of Feb 2021 I put an offer on the house in Bagillt for the price of 227,000.00.
After reaching the point of 3/4 of conveyancing process we were told the price changed to 260,000.00 (9,5 months later!). As we were using Help To Buy scheme this fell out of the cap so we were left with no choice but dropping the deal. The price was not negotiable. Until today nobody knows when the house will be ready for completion (maybe Easter 2022) even if in Feb 2021 we were buying not the plot, but the standing house! The contractors changed during this 9,5 month ordeal and developers were very hard to reach and communicate. I was involved in never ending chain of people to finally get to the developer's chasing team who dependant of who you dealt with were trying to help or not. Developers are Quatrefoil just so you know - please avoid.
Clearly mistake of the branch left me with ongoing stress for 9,5 months, submitting mortgage offer twice (losing credit score) and bills to pay (valuation fees, lawyers). I cannot stress how much we lost by dealing with this company. Please don't make this mistake.

We have recently sold a property with…

We have recently sold a property with the Wrexham branch and the service has been first class. When a problem cropped up with the buyers solicitor they were quick to step in and resolve the issue and offer an alternative if necessary. Nathan and Alice provided regular updates and gave access to a live tracker that was really helpful.

It’s only an estate agent

It’s only an estate agent, so most peeps know only too well what to expect. As a landlord, the pros are; large chain owned by countrywide, giving many branches and “long arms”. They will offer all services, at a cost, for the “amateur” landlord. They will attempt to make landlords feel financially secure in the business venture of letting. As a landlord, the cons are you are likely to be “misled” as to exactly what services have actually been carried out, you will not be given correct feedback regarding prospective tenants, and existing tenants actions, and are reliant on rent payment being passed on accurately and promptly.
As a tenant, the pros are generally no better and no worse than any other estate agent. Like banks, internet providers and mobile phone networks, they all operate under the same business conditions and have very little difference to offer a consumer or customer. The multi occupancy building I have a flat in has suffered from several years of catastrophically bad tenancy offers from the Colwyn Bay branch resulting in multiple police attendances; charges of drug supply and prostitution and breaches of the peace resulting in mass evictions. Very recently the occupants of the ground floor flat beneath mine moved out in the middle of the night. Presumably “a runner”; and further evidence of the lack of skill, or care, displayed by Ber. Adams during the new tenant selection procedure; that they doubtless boast to the land lord about.
In some sort of bizarre attempt to attract even less desirable new tenants, the flat is now being offered as “Zero deposit available”.
I have needed to communicate with a Ber. Adams employee regarding faults and repairs required in my flat. Not only was this employee unable to clearly understand and co-ordinate this situation; but seems to have recently received a promotion. The latest act from this person was to inform me of an upcoming inspection of the flat. An appointment was arranged, no one came, I emailed the employee; and was not replied to by either phone or email. The phone line to the B.A. office is unmanned.

Waste of time and money.. useless

Constantly chasing them up when putting myself and my partners house up for sale. So many mistakes made with the listing. Takes around a week and a half to get an answer and they’ll say they’ll call you back with an update (which they don’t). Also failed to inform me on some of the buyers queries. Honestly wasted so much money. I suggest you find an agent who is more organised. This was for the Wales/Chester branch.

This is a joke of a firm

This is a joke of a firm. You go in for a letting and they are all nice and smarmy up until the point the landlord goes for someone else. After that all contact ceases, they don't even have the common decency to phone and e-mail to tell you you were not the ones chosen. Avoid at all costs

Conmen and Scammers

Tried to buy a house from the Ruthin Wales branch. It had been on the market for over a year and was a real dump. It was in a forest so not a sort after property. As soon as we went to see it we liked it. We put an offer in. A day later we were locked in a bidding war with another couple who were desperate to buy it (ha, ha). They wanted us to submit final offer sealed bids. We decided not to increase our offer. 2 days later I received a letter from them to say our offer had been declined. They then phoned about a week later. And said we have good news. I said what are you talking about I thought we has lost the house? No they said the other couple have pulled out and the sellers have decided to accept your offer! No thanks I said. So from having no buyers for over a year in the space of a week this lost had lost two buyers.

Of course the other buyer never existed. They made it all up. It was all a pack of lies to con more money out of us. They should be black listed as being conmen. Also be aware their so called financial advisor who is based at another branch is a major part of the scam. He should be reported too for proffesional misconduct.

We have recently rented a property…

We have recently rented a property through Beresford Adams, that was the easy part and all went smoothly. Unbeknown to me they have an agreement with Spark Energy and it would appear they signed us up to their services without asking which I find awful. Even the owner of the property was unaware of the change. I am sure commission was made for putting us with Spark. I do not understand how a contract being set up without me having any say at all. Now I have to deal with a firm I find horrible, intimidating and bullies, they phone/text/e-mail non stop. People should be given a choice and I certainly was not. This is through Chester Branch. Very unhappy about this! Beresford Adams should really look at agreement with Spark.

Beresford Adams Chester looked after…

Beresford Adams Chester looked after the sale of our Chester property. From our initial valuation with Thuin, to our contact with Keir, Amy, Katrina and Emma, everything was handled professioanlly and rapidly. Beresford Adams advocated well on our behalf and ensured that we were fully informed throughout.

Particular thanks must go to Amy who ensured we got an excellent price for our property, and whose level of customer service is a credit to the company - thank you!

Rented from this company

Rented from this company, they were polite when taking deposits off me , however when I handed back the property, which was out of contract, they made me pay another months rent ?? (Notice) But I had already agreed with landlord ?
Company were very slow in returning my deposits .. and ignored my e mails.
I always paid my rent early and never had any issues.
I certainly would not use a company with such ignorant staff again.
Maybe just one office .. but never again
