Good first impression...

Attended with our Bulldog for our first appointment since joining the Corby practice. Swift and efficient, I called later to discuss the notes and had great customer support from the young lady who answered the phone. Good first impression considering the difficult times we are all going through.

Nice vets

The staff here are lovely. They were helpful when we first got our dog. We are on a monthly plan and had a reduced price to get him neutered and his regular flea and worming tablets. They are great with him. Always happy to help. Thanks.

Sally saved the day

I have been taking my dog to the vets for months with an issue regarding him biting and pulling his fur out from itching. It wasn’t until Sally the nurse and I asked for him to be tested by the vet for mange that we figured out it was that! Sally got involved and has fixed my dog. I cannot explain how bad his skin was, how ruined my home was from the blood etc and how depressed my dog was. Sally has treated my dog like her own and had a horrendous looking, smelling and sad to look at dog to deal with. She never let that get in the way of treating Caesar she washed him every other day, then twice a week, and then fortnightly until he was clear. He hates the vets but would happily walk in with Sally to be treated. She explained everything well to me on each visit which I feel the vets didn’t beforehand (can’t comment on the vet there now as never seen him before but he too seems like he explains things and is very friendly). She’s a lovely lady and so is the whole team at best friends Shenley in Milton Keynes. Everyone there showed care and compassion to my dog and the happiness we all feel now he’s healed and clear is obvious to see. I thank you soooooo much Sally don’t think we would be where we are now without you. I now have my cheeky happy big bear back!

Amazing help...Peterborough Broadway Vets.

On the 28th August 2020, I unfortunately had to put my little pooch to sleep. Worst experience for me personally. As it was my first time doing this. Unfortunately I can’t remember the vets name. She was a new member of staff. She was great from the day I went in on the Tuesday before, till that horrible day. She was brilliant throughout, with advice and help, I actually said to her, I’m glad she was there doing the procedure. It made my dog (Petra) more comfortable. Thank you very much. ❤️❤️

Northampton branch

Northampton branch. Horrendous experience! Awful vets, avoid like the plague. Our dog died of cancer after MULTIPLE visits to the vets with concerns over his behaviour and lumps appearing on his skin. We were constantly dismissed and told he was FINE until he collapsed in garden and they found he had a TUMOUR that by the this point had ruptured and this killed my gorgeous boy! My poor boy could of survived if the vet had looked at him properly but unfortunately our trust in a professional was misguided. Thanks to this vets we no longer have our gorgeous border collie and to top it off we’ve just received reminder email and text to tell us his jabs were due when they know he died, how insensitive!

Milton Keynes branch!

Milton Keynes branch!

Today I was absolutely appalled by the service I received from the Best friends vet group, Shenley Brook End. In particular Sally, veterinary nurse.

At 9am I went for a walk with my dog, Oscar. A little in to the walk he began heavily sneezing, I noticed a type of foxtail grass sticking out of his nostril and the sneezing was unable to push it out so I pulled it out. Oscar continued sneezing, spraying blood from the inside of his nose and cutting the outside of his nose with every scrape to the floor (from sneezing). I called my vets and spoke with Gemma on reception, after speaking with the vet I was advised to bring him in straight away. Once at the vet, Gemma took him inside and I waited outside (due to current restrictions) the vet then come outside to advise Oscar wouldn't let him look up his nose so he will need to be sedated for an endoscopy up his nose. I was also advised they didn't have the equipment needed so would need to be referred. The vet went back inside and Gemma offered a vet in Birmingham, I asked if there was anywhere closer to perform the endoscopy. Sally come outside and advised there's one in Marlow, Buckinghamshire so I went for that one. Sally printed off a map of the vets location, a contact number and a form to fill out for arrival. I took the 80 minute journey to Marlow with a very stressed and bloody nosed Oscar to find out the The Ralph in Marlow weren't expecting us and hadn't had any communication from Best friend group. The staff at the Ralph were absolutely brilliant. I was met outside by a lady from reception, Oscar was standing beside me sneezing blood all over the pavement so the lady asked for my vets phone number and called through to see what had happened. Sally (best friend group) had advised the lady it was my fault because they were waiting for me to chose a location. If this was the case, Sally wouldn't have handed me all the paperwork for the Ralph. The receptionist at the Ralph advised she has been sent Oscars notes over and it does state I'd chosen The Ralph. Once Oscar had been seen by the vet, I was advised due to my vets not informing them of my arrival there is no more slots left so they would give him an anti inflammatory, I would take him home and see how he goes over night. If he was still sneezing they would do the endoscopy in the morning. I was gutted and full of anxiety, I had put him through a stressful journey for an anti inflammatory, I could've got back in mk if they had just called through. I called through to Best friend group where I spoke with Gemma. I informed her how upsetting it was for both me and Oscar to make the journey and that there were no more appointments. She passed me on to Sally, before I had a chance to speak, Sally very abruptly states " I told you, you need to call them first." (again, a different story to what she had told the receptionist at The Ralph) I advised that wasnt said at all and questioned why would I be calling through to referral vets when my vets are the ones referring me. She said yes I did and if you raise your voice I'm hanging up. I stated I wasn't raising my voice but you're not allowing me to speak instead are talking over me. I asked her not to hang up and that I can talk to her at the surgery. She advised if I was to come back to the surgery she would call the police, with that the phone line went dead. I called again and the phone lines had been switched off, instead I was greeted with a message stating the phone lines were now closed and are only open until 1pm every day, it was 12:06. I was absolutely stunned at the conversation I had just had with Sally. There was no apology nor empathy, I felt anxious and upset. There website boasts 'our friendly team' , I feel Sally really let the team down on this occasion.

Before Byron vets moved in with there sister vets in Shenley Brook End, Oscar was great going to the vets. Gemma and the team were friendly, welcoming and informative. I can honestly say I will never bring my animals in to the surgery on Shenley Brook End again. Me and Oscar would like to thank Gemma for always being so approachable and making his visits at Byron so comfortable.

Support and Care from Best Friends Shenfield Branch

Best Friends Shenfield Branch have been amazing for the whole 8 and half years I have been going. A few years back now the surgeon Marcel saw my poor dog through three operations following a car accident and now having been diagnosed with congestive heart failure back in October 2019, Ricardo treated her at the final stages with such care, love and sympathy, both for her and myself. He was the best vet ever and is a huge credit to the surgery.

Along with the kindness and support of the rest of the staff I want to give a special mention to the two Shelley's on Reception who could quite easily of got fed up with me as I was always calling or visiting to get advice about my King Charles Cavalier and her condition but they were highly supportive, caring and helpful throughout.

I would highly recommend Best Friends Shenfield Branch.

dreadful vets

We went to the vets on shenley brook end Milton Keynes with our dog Bailey. The vet called Guy said he had anal abscess and charged us over £150 for steroid and antibiotic injections and two lots of antibiotic tablets. We had to take him back as he was getting worse and the vet said he had anal cancer and would need to be put down. We spent two days crying and deciding what to do. Then I suggested we took him to a different vet for a second opinion. The new vet was horrified and knew immediately he had blocked anal glands. She emptied them out and there was loads of stuff that came out. She did blood tests and gave him antibiotics that targeted the anal gland infection that he had. They charged us £15 for the antibiotics. He has been fine since and it’s been a month. So we were charged over £150 unnecessarily and we feel completely ripped off. They never emptied his anal glands and were willing to put him down. Shocking to say the least. I will never return to that vets. We now go to a fantastic vets in Heath & Reach and they are brilliant.

Disgusting money grabbing no morals Chatteris branch

This company took my daughters dyeing jack Russell and gave it unnecessary treatment when she was on her last legs and should have been given euthanasia. The vet when my daughter returned for her blood results ( and trust me you could tell this dog was in agony and should have been put to sleep) Proceeded to give her several injections and talk about scans and operations blah blah blah and had not a clue about the blood tests done previously. My daughter has just returned from having her put to sleep and is distraught as 4 days after their so called treatments she was having fits and even then they talked about other CRAP they should do until she lost her temper and told them to get on with it. My thoughts they milk you for every penny I had a similar experience with a cat several years ago same practice. AVOID should lose practitioners licence!!!
