The nation’s leader in Executive Function coaching has been serving clients since 2006. Beyond BookSmart works with students and our WorkSmart Coaching division focuses on serving adults. Executive function coaching teaches students and adults how to organize, plan, prioritize, manage time, maintain focus, self-assess, and study efficiently. Self-management skills are increasingly important in a complex world with many distractions and competing priorities. People who learn these skills are better equipped to navigate the challenges of school and adult life. Many of our clients are bright, capable individuals in late elementary school to adults of all ages who are not achieving their potential as a result of ineffective work habits. Some have diagnoses such as ADHD or other learning differences and see coaching as excellent additional support to school-based interventions. Some of our clients have emotional challenges such as anxiety which impact their ability to work effectively. Other clients we work with have no formal diagnoses yet benefit from learning more effective ways to manage their academic or workplace demands. Our coaches work 1:1 online to help people learn how to manage their time, attention, effort, and emotions, as well as stay organized, plan and prioritize, self-advocate, and become more self-aware. Using our deep understanding of the nature of behavior change, our coaches help clients discover their own motivation to become more effective at school or at work. All of our coaches have master’s level degrees or higher (or equivalent) and have been rigorously vetted and trained, with access to over 400 tools and strategies to customize each client’s experience, according to their needs and preferences.

Our experience with our coach and BBS has been wonderful. They provide great value and tools for our daughter to think about and apply to her behavior. Our coach has been welcoming and trustworthy for our daughters care.
The coach assigned has done an exceptional job and was just what we were seeking.
The process for finding a coaching match went very well. We are still in the process of learning all the executive function skills that my college aged child with ADHD needs, but so far so good! Love the ease of the portal.
Our coach is professional, intuitive and insightful. My child feels encouraged and is on board with addressing her issues.
Karin has been a God send for our son. She really helped him get his confidence back when taking exams. Thank you for all that you do!
I got matched up with a coach I feel is a good suit for me. I'm studying in the UK and the university system runs slightly differently from the US college system especially when it comes to the course I'm doing(dentistry; we don't do pre-med here and have different exam schedules). Sarah is wonderful and has imparted some really useful tips and tricks on me so far and I hope I'll be able to improve as I go forward :) It's also nice to check in with someone who's like a wellbeing tutor every week.
I have had two of my kids use Beyond Booksmart within the last few years. The staff and EF coaches are responsive and caring. BBS was an integral part of my daughter learning to work through her challenges. With her coach's perspective in the mix we were able to see the situation more broadly. My daughter changed from the prep school she was in to a voc tech. She is now a high school junior, an honors student, takes AP English and last summer did a two week precollege program at Harvard University. A long way from wondering if she was going to have to repeat eigth grade.
My son is in college and was having executive functioning challenges. He's only been using the program for a few weeks, but seem to be getting something out of it as well. In his case he was not enthusiastic about his first match from our initial interview. BBS worked with us to find another match that he's much more responsive to.
I’ve been working with the same coach for the fourth year now. I have learned so much about myself and I truly believe I would’ve dropped out / failed out of college without her. I’m on deans list at my university. I have so many tools and habits I am glad to carry into my adulthood and future career.

Why I Canceled Within The First 2 Sessions
- No systematic method: never seemed to be a plan for how the coach would assess where I am now, specific achievable goals, or how BBS could help me get there
- Not personalized: The coach worked from assumptions rather than understanding my unique challenges through dialogue or people who know me.
- Overpriced: Not willing to pay $156/ hour (session) for what was a weekly accountability session. It is tantamount to profiteering from people who are vulnerably approaching the company for help.
Why I would not recommend (Bad business practices)
- I was promised that the first session would be a 15-min discovery call with my coach. The coach went over that time w/o consent and charged me $156 anyway.
- It became impossible to get someone on the phone once I requested a cancellation.
- I was reimbursed less than logically expected with 0 explanations or opportunity to consent. Ultimately, I was charged $182/ hour (session).
For those looking for help:
I recommend trying out some of the many more affordable options. Worst-case scenario, you end up with a similar service while saving yourself a few thousand dollars.
Back story if you are interested:
I was recently diagnosed with ADHD as an adult after soliciting the test from my doctor upon realization that the challenges I was facing in my academic and professional roles throughout my entire life revolved around Executive Functioning.
I hated the idea of relying on solely or permanently on medication so I immediately began searching for a therapist/ coach. After viewing several options that were much more affordable (Shimmer, TalkSpace, etc.) I settled on BBS/ Smart Work Coaching.

Beth was amazing with my daughter, a senior in high school, helping her with both academic and personal exec functioning tasks. We would definitely use again if needed in the future!

I appreciate you, taking time to get to know Stone and understand his situation. Then, once that relationship is established and trusted, you can help him handle life.
