Great program. Sometimes the buses don't stick to the scheduled time of arrival. Big 5 a terrific deal. The service we received from Bo was just fantastic - I wish everyone operated like this. Thanks,... See more

An OK tour. But for a better view of Sydney’s icons take a river taxi trip between Darling Harbour and Circular Quay - it is very good (we kept all the photos from that trip and none from the bus... See more

Good tour but quality of commentary could be improved

A good way to get an overview of the sights of Sydney, but in comparison to other city tours I have been on, there is comparatively little information about the different points of interest and their history. The recorded messages are often out of sync with what you see at a given moment, presumably because of differences in traffic. Together with the low quality of the recordings, this makes it difficult to follow the commentary.

Good frequency

Good frequency, suggest to extended the last bus from Sydney Opera house to 8:00 P.M.

Don't waste your time or money on this …

Don't waste your time or money on this bus. The prerecorded content did not match where we were driving and the music in between the commentary was the same snippets of 5 songs over and over (Waltzing Matilda). We waited over 45 minutes for the bus back (almost an hour before the supposed end of service), and it never came so we had to walk back to our stop near the Opera House. The drivers were rude and clearly did not want to be there. In contrast, we did the same tour in Christchurch and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

This was extremely overpriced activity, and we wish we hadn't spent our money or wasted the hour+ out of our day.

Great way to see the City

Great way to see the City - I would recommend to do the tour within the first few days of the vacation. This would give you a good idea on the sites of the city and were they are.

Worthless. Avoid.

From start to finish, almost worthless.
Bus was late to the start -- 20+ minute wait for "Bus comes every 15-20 min"
Not offered headphones at this point. Got some at a later stop when we realized they were needed.
Not that it really mattered, the headphones were such poor quality one could barely hear; some plug points were not working anyway, requiring seat changes.
When I could hear, by holding a earbud in my ear, the recorded commentary was extremely basic, adding little to what we could see. It was punctuated by the same three pieces of music, over and over again. I used to like Waltzing Matilda and Land Down Under, now I never want to hear them again.
Later in the day near Darling Harbour, the wait for the "15-20 minute" bus had extended to 35 minutes (even the staff member was apologizing). We covered 5 stops to Circular Quay, where the driver pulled over and got out. No explanation of why or how long. Turned out it was to have a smoke with several other drivers, check his phone, etc. OK, drivers need breaks, but why not on a rotating basis (driver goes on break, relief driver for one loop), rather than simply leaving the paying customers sitting for... 30 minutes!
Back on the road... only to grind to a stop in traffic. After another 30 minutes to go a few blocks, I was so frustrated that I got off and walked the 3 km back to our hotel. My partner stayed aboard; we arrived at the same time.
My partner's been on hop on - hop off tours elsewhere. She commented that this was by far the worst she'd ever experienced.
This company needs to pay some attention to the customers, rather than simply taking a fare and ignoring them, wasting our time by cutting the schedule back and not using relief drivers, and provide a commentary with interesting information and stories, that is audible.

Mostly as expected

waiting times were sometimes a bit long. Having the same three songs being played over and over got a bit annoying after a while. Other than that pretty much what you can expect from a hop on hop of bus tour .

Thanks

I think it is too expensive for us. However, tour of Sydney was great experience for us and bus drivers are always kindness. Thanks.

I travel a few times a year

I travel a few times a year, sometimes for business and sometimes for pleasure. Whenever I am in a new city, whether in the US or internationally, my go-to tour bus company is Big Bus Tours. The cost is reasonable, ordering online is easy, and the tour route usually showcases the major tourist locales. I like the narration when it is available because it provides me with history and background of the site. I love the convenience of being able to hop on and hop off as it allows me to visit several places for one price. From Toronto to Paris to Sydney, I have enjoyed being a Big Bus patron!

Sydney Big Bus

The lady in central station at 9.48 am on 2 Dec issued the wrong day ticket.
I bought the deulex tickets but she issued 1 day only.
Although another busdriver fixed it, it ruined our moods.

Use your time wisely.

Definitely worth doing. You could easily run out of time to do the activity at a location if you just ride the red or blue line completely first. Two day tickets are the way to go.
