Potential tenants beware!!

Potential tenants beware!!!

During the process of getting a property to rent from B&K Estates. As usual we went to see the property, we liked it and paid a holding deposit. After that the company asked us for bunch of documents for reference checks which we of course provided to them. The next thing was that we wanted to verify that B & K Estates is a legit company and we are in good hands.

We wanted to know which was the money protection scheme that B&K Estates are using. All letting agents in England are required by law to to use these schemes if they are holding clients money.

We also wanted to know which will be the deposit protection scheme they are going to use for the deposit.

At the moment we asked these questions, the company went quiet and stopped replying to our emails.
They also re-listed the property for which we have paid the holding deposit despite the fact they are not legally allowed to take another persons holding deposit while keeping ours.

After the 15 days deadline for signing the tenancy agreement we officially asked for the refund of our holding deposit, and they have refunded it.

The bottom line is that we wasted two weeks hoping to move into new property, but it didn't happen.
