They do not care about your success. It's all about the $$$

This site has no real customer care. I have struggled through the pandemic and have not received an ounce of sympathy about my request for changes in my account usage. The customer care representative ignored my statements and just kept telling me to pay more if I want an extension. They don't and won't care for you and your progress. I cannot believe I trusted them to be able to help me. This was literally money down the drain and made me feel like I am not worth their time. I was told that I can only get a maximum of 2 weeks for an extension and anything else would be too much to ask. They don't care even if my account was barely touched, they have no exemptions to their corporate rules and would just gobble up your money.

Great Tutoring experience

I had a great experience with Blueprint! I received tutoring from Josiah Perry and he was awesome! I had taken the MCAT and gotten a 511, and he helped me increase my score to a 515 the second time around. He was super helpful in developing a study plan that was adapted to my schedule. I also really appreciated how when we went over my practice tests, he really pushed me to not only understand what the answer was but to think about why I got the question wrong and what I could actively do to avoid making the same mistake again in the future.
Overall an excellent experience!!

Tests aren't worth it...

Next Step exams are far harder than actual AAMC content. I purchased 6 exams to supplement the AAMC material but found I couldn't finish the C/P section in 95 minutes. The sections are OK for general practice but I don't think these were valuable as actual exams. Psych/Soc was most accurate, CARS is close. I found UWorld content to be more useful and you can create exams from the test bank. UWorld is much more versatile.

Hi Gregory,

Thank you for this feedback. The MCAT percentile based scoring system exists because the exam itself is variable-from one exam to the next, a given section may be more or less challenging. We've heard a variety of feedback from students-ranging from some of our exams and sections being really easy compared to their exam, to being incredibly hard compared to the exam they had, and everything in between. We expect that feedback given the variability of the exam itself. In our exams, we focus on trying to provide a wide variety of practice that represents the full breadth of difficulty a student could experience on the real MCAT. Some of it is thus pretty tough-hopefully, more tough than anyone sees on the real thing, but still designed to represent the hardest real AAMC content out there. That may make some students feel over-prepared if they encounter an exam that's easier to tackle on the content side--and we're okay with that! The good news is-if an exam is harder, scoring is more generous, just like on the real test. So, scoring on a particularly challenging section in one of our exams is designed to be representative of how you'd expect to perform on a similarly challenging section on the real exam. If you have anything to add or would like to continue this conversation offline, please feel free to send me an email at john.barton@blueprintprep.com

Awesome practice tests

Really great practice tests and diagnostic tools. The practice tests are very reasonable priced. All the other services were out of my price range. Would absolutely recommend the practice tests though.

I thought the Blueprint MCAT prep was comprehensive and covered all the material I needed for the MCAT as well as good test taking strategies. I found that the practice exams were not so indicative of my score on the AMCAS exams so I would make sure to supplement your studying with the AMCAS exams earlier on.

Great for a 90th+ percentile score

I used Blueprint's full length exams to help me prepare for the MCAT. Their exams felt way more challenging than the AAMC sample tests and actual MCAT, which felt like a piece of cake compared to Blueprint. The C/P section of the test was my weakest section but after going through Blueprint C/P sections, I was able to score in the 99th percentile for C/P and in the 99th percentile overall.

Helpful Practice Tests

I used the NextStep and Blueprint practice exams which were really helpful. I thought the explanations were good and I liked that I had the ability to practice the MCAT under "COVID times" so I could be prepared for the real structure and timing of it.

Great for prepping to get above 520

I paid for the 10 exams package. They were definitely a lot more difficult than the actual MCAT exams, however, they did a great job preparing me for it. Since they were so tough, I was able to do sooo much better on the MCAT than I expected. It also didn't feel stressful since the blueprint felt a lot tougher as well. The only thing I didn't like what that CARS felt a little off compared to the actual MCAT.

Most Useful MCAT Study Material

I used this program for my MCAT practice tests and found that their practice tests were the best ones on the market. I found that the tests really did prepare me for the actual test and what type of questions are common. There was also an option to make the practice test compatible with the COVID shortened format that my actual MCAT followed, which I found very useful. There was also a comprehensive breakdown after each practice test that allowed me to focus on certain areas that I was struggling with. Taking these practice greatly helped my studying and because of that I would recommend this company and program to anyone taking the MCAT!

I was impressed with the content of the MCAT practice exams that were offered with Next Step and Blueprint. They were significantly more difficult than many other third party practice sites and even compared to AAMC official practice exams. This helped hone in my weaknesses as well as address more challenging topics in a different perspective. I believe this led to my 5 point increase on my actual MCAT. Without Next Step MCAT I would not have been able to achieve this score jump. However, I do believe that some questions were unreasonably difficult and did not accurately represent the official tested material. Although it was good practice, I believe that keeping the super difficult questions to a minimum would be better for the students.

Top Tier MCAT Resource

I spent a lot of timing trying to determine what the best MCAT resources were. I ended up choosing UWorld and Blueprint. I'm so glad I did. Blueprint MCAT was fantastic (I took tests 1-6 in timed conditions). The difficulty felt in line with the difficulty on test day, particularly the C/P and P/S sections. While the CARS felt the least like test day, I was still able to do well by practicing with other resources. Overall, Blueprint helped build stamina, strengthen my C/P and P/S ability, and taught me how to remain calm during difficult sections. I scored 90%+ percentile and have been accepted into medical school. Blueprint MCAT played an important role in my success.

Worthy investment for MCAT studying.

When I studied for the MCAT, I primarily used practice tests to hone my test-taking skills. Blueprint's exams were well written and superbly thought out. They were difficult, however, but I loved the explanations they had for each question. I also liked the fact that they were able to give explanations for the answer choics that were wrong as well. I was able to learn more from doing NS's tests than by reading through those review books from brand-name companies. All-in-all, a worthy investment.

Representative practice exams

I used their Full-Length Exams 1-4 and found that they were the most representative out of the 3 I tried (Kaplan, TPR, and Blueprint); more difficult than AAMC, but not overly so. Their CARS section was especially good, best after AAMC. I also really liked their interface and explanations in their solutions. The price was quite fair compared to the other companies. I've received a 524 on my exam this year, partly thanks to this.

MCAT prep

I got the MCAT exam prep package with 4 practice exams and I thought they were pretty helpful! The interface was okay to use, not fantastic bc you have to scroll down to see the answer explanations, but overall I thought they were helpful. Definitely harder than the actual exam, but a really good way to get ready.

Blueprint offered a huge database of questions and was good for its price. Additionally, it gives you feedback on all questions which is really nice. It's only downfall is that some the questions are not like the real MCAT. Specifically, the practice MCATs are definitely harder than real MCAT questions and not always relevant to the material.

Blueprint MCAT - difficult exams but worth the practice!

I recommend Blueprint MCAT (Formerly Next Step Test Prep). I bought their 6 practice test bundle and was very satisfied with my experience. I bought the package back before AAMC decided to shorten the MCAT for 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions. I called Blueprint worried that I had just bought full length/full time tests and they reassured me that they had their team working on giving the option of taking the shortened timed tests that would better reflect the new 2020 MCAT. Within a few short weeks they had the new shortened tests available and I used this option for most of my practice. The interface for reviewing the test was superb. I loved being able to see content categories and explanations for each question I got wrong or right. Each of their tests seemed more difficult than the AAMC practice exams. On test day, I actually ended up scoring 6 points higher than on any of the practice exams I took with Blueprint- so I am not sure how reflective Blueprint's scoring is but if anything it was definitely worth the practice with the harder content and question style.
