Do not use this company

Do not use this company. They will just take your money and not abide by their terms and conditions. I booked a vehicle with them to pick up in Geneva Airport, Switzerland. When I arrived I discovered that I had to pick up the car in France and that I would not be allowed to then return to Switzerland with the car. They refused to refund me the money without making any meaningful enquiry as to what had happened. Total crooks

Non transparent: car insurance credit card deposit

I do not advise at all to take out the car insurance offered by the Cartrawler company since they are subcontracted to AXA. When you get to the counter of the company that actually rents your car, the company charges you a much larger deposit amount on your credit card because of that. But anyone explains you that when Cartrawler sells you the car insurance. If you want to simplify your life, purchase vehicle insurance from the company that actually rents you the car. Apart of that, Cartrawler's customer service representative in Spain, Reham, offers very little help.

CARTRAWLER = CARSCAMMER

I've had a bad experience with Cartrawler as well. It is acually more then one year ago, when Corona started to get it's impact in europe. We had our flight to Athens cancelled in April, by Ryanair. Via vliegwinkel we had booked a car to rented during 10 days. We assunmed that with our flights cancelled, the car rental would be cancelled as well, but that wasn't so. When we contacted cartrawler for a refund, as we could not pick up our car, as there was simply no flight anymore, their reply was that we should have cancelled the car rental ourserselves --- this was our responsibility as per the hiring contract. The exceptional situation of Corona would not influence their decision to refund the amount of car rental, which was paid by credit card in advance.

it's probably how they make their money, not being bothered by any sense of customer service but merely by the goal of simply making money while spitting the customer in the face.

I hope they will go bankrupt some day, this message should be a warning to everyone , before signing a hiring contrace with cartrawler. Avoid this company. you will not get any server or money back.

Easyjet car hire is now CarTrawler

Easyjet car hire is now powered by Cartrawler and it is rubbish. I had used Easyjet Car Hire when booking a flight previously and everything was OK. I've booked another flight and car next month and this time I have just realised I have been sent to Sixt which I found out is not in the Airport Terminal but a fair hike in the rain (well it is Belfast in September so I'm expecting rain) to a scabby office where you have to stand outside while people faff inside. So I decided to cancel - only a voucher is available, not a refund. It wil take 20 days to come through (always the sign of fraudsters), but according to other reviews on here it wil never happen and I will end up taking EasyJet to small claims (and I will if they don't provide a voucher). I will not use EasyJet Car Hire or CarTrawler again. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID
EasyJet you are a disgrace using this shower.

Big WARNING for this company.

Big WARNING for this company.
We booked a car for three weeks. When we came for pick up the local agent said that there are no cars available. Cartrawler offered us to try to find a similar car by our self and they would pay for it. We did, but Cartrawler is now, one month later still not refunding the car we never had nor paying for the replacement car. We are filing fraud complaints of course. Incredible they are still in business, 1,1 on google reviews. Lot's of fraud like complaints. The scary thing is that it is hard to avoid because that are kind of second step dealers behind companies like Norwegian, KLM and Swiss. And specifically for Sweden hyrbil24, so booking via hyrbil24 might end up with that you actually book with Cartrawler. So, you think you are doing business with hyrbil24 but in the end they can only refer to Cartrawler handling the case, which they are not, and you are being getting scammed.
That is not good. Let's do something about it.

Beware of Nu car rentals
They uses Car trawler company which is a scammer.
They will not answer phone or emails . So if you make reservations THEY " NU CAR RENTALS" WILL NOT CANCEL OR REFUND YOUR MONEY.
I put in info to find reservation IT just said invalid, can't find reservation . When they first tried to charge card it came up FRAUD. card company called me. Dumb me I ok'd it. Dumb Dumb! I should of got a clue. lol. I ask a lady I spoke with from NU CAR RENTAL, SHE SOUNDED PHILAPINO. I asked she wheres she's at, she just said off site , but head office was in Texas. she sounded Phillipino, I could barely understand her. Be Ware

CarTrawler is a scam

CarTrawler is a scam, they inform about rules that dosen`t match the local car rent companies. That is in matter of fact a crime.

They will collect your money, and they will not give you any refund if you get any problem with collecting your car at the local car rent company.

CarTrawler say you have to pay a much lower security deposit - then was is the reality when you show up at the local car rent company.

Whatever your problem is with collecting the car or whatever it is - CarTrawler will not give you a refund, they will instead just take your money and tell you that all is your fault - even if you did not succeed to collect the car at the specific pick up.

The local car rent company, if it is Avis, Eurocar, Hertz or whoever it is - have all different rules - than what CarTraweler tells you under "importen information about the local car rent company".

CarTraweler is therfore a big scam.

Stay away, and use someone else instead that at least give you a refund if you get any problems with collecting the car or whatever it may be.

Terrible experience, terrible company.

This was the worst experience I have ever had! They are apparently the parent company of holidaycars.com. Terrible service. They did not email a confirmation to me despite charging my card. I had to repeatedly email and ask for it. I finally got it and printed my voucher, only to arrive and have an expired reservation. The car I had been charged for and reserved had already been given away and no others were around to be had. When you call the number for customer assistance, you’ll be put on hold for long periods of time. This company is full of incompetent people and are in the business of stealing money. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. It is a scam.

Booked via Easyjet

Booked via Easyjet. Paid the rental price upfront. I was left with no car at Malaga airport, unless I wanted to pay extra 270 Euros "insurance". Cartrawler's customer service is awful - they could not care less. Avoid!

car trawler scam

hours later...it gets better...cartrawler at easyjet have apparently lied and misquoted europcar manager in their email to me...to defend the £200 they have taken from me and consider it resolved...shocking

cant give no stars...
booked europcar rental through easyjet website without realising it went through cartrawler, late arrival at gatwick and ended up stranded after £200 was tken off my credit card at booking.
Europcar representative wouldnt give me the car - entered y personal details into her phone, demanded address proof from me - even though she had all my id and driving license and then two declined payments through their machines - which my bank said were not declined by them but by faulty terminals - yet now as i thought they are syaing i defaulted on the rental and will not refund the £200
i have chased every line - europcar, easyjet, cartrawler and all denying it and saying its resolved and basically are keeping the money!
time to involve fraud team and police i think, this is basically theft
i cant believe they get away with something so blatant
never ever use any third party rental for anything

Alert @: Car hire under EasyJet : Refund Issues

Car hire booked under EasyJet brand. Flights cancelled. Car Hire refund guaranteed but not processed. Rep cancelled the insurance but not the main car hire cost. Chased 40 days later & now need to wait a further 30 days to see if it comes through 2nd time of asking. Looks intentional so people do not take the time & effort to follow up. Poor service.

I rented a car through cartrawler.com, which I paid for, incl. a voluntary extra insurance via AXA insurance that was to insure me against 1100 EURO self-liability insurance.
When I had to pick up the car at Goldcar in Palma de Mallorca airport, they could see my booking, but claimed that there was no payment for the car !? I showed that receipt from cartrawler, but it did not matter, if I wanted the car delivered from Goldcar I would have to pay 410 EURO !! ??
In order not to ruin the holiday, I had to pay as I wanted a car. My bank told me that I should contact Goldcar to talk to them again, at the counter they claimed that it was NORMAL to pay over 800 EURO for a Seat Ibiza 1.0 (80 HP) for 10 days !! ??
It is clear that CARTRAWLER.COM & GOLDCAR together deliberately cheat their customers so that they can be allowed to pay double rent for their cars, or not get a car delivered.

NEVER USE CARTRAWLER + GOLDCAR !!!

CarTrawler are an absolute disgrace please do not use this company save your money and spend it with somebody else. They have stolen my money for a Car hire service I could not even use and was cancelled.

Please do not use CarTrawler
Our holiday was cancelled due to COVID and all the flights cancelled but CarTrawler will not refund our deposit even though we cancelled within the deadlines.
They say they have provided a refund but they don't actually refund. They lie to you to make you go away thinking it is being sorted, but they have no intention of repaying the money.
Please don't book with them

Found out this shower were the third…

Found out this shower were the third link in the chain of a bad experience on booking car hire and subsequently car refund due to airline cancellation and civid-19.
They were quick to point out contact number on their documentation which incidentally I still have not located their web site on customer contact is very poor and does not allow you quick contact deceive work is required to reach the source who are quick to shear responsibility under their cancellation policy. Result never use them again.

Unreliable service

I booked a return airport transfer in Mexico. Arriving in the airport there was no driver (as promised) and the emergency customer service did not answer. The next day I contacted the emergency number again, and was told that I should just get a refund. This has not happened yet.

My return transfer to the airport was late, and made no apology and was driven by a sub-contractor.

Avoid them at all cost if you can. I am surprised Emirates would partner with a company that offers a poor service and customer experience.

I booked a flight to Dubai which was delayed and in attempting to rebook the pickup, the pickup was instead cancelled and I was informed I could not get a refund as this was less than 24 hours before the pickup time.

I had booked pickup from the airport and from the hotel in 7 days but they cancelled both pickups. I should have read the reviews before booking but in my eyes this is fraudulent.

Avoid at all cost.

Fraud

I am aware of that, i have contacted my bank and the Will take it from here. You are the informant of this rental deal, You have made me pay for two insurance now, im not happy, i Will never use You Again and i Will make sure the World Will know it to. Thank You for your corporation. Btw i dont need This service. You make me pay twice, You misinform. I wasnt gonna get any car without paying, what to do standing There with and angry Greek woman!!!! This is going social for cheating a customer and now You telling me what the deal says? It didnt tell That i have to pay twice. Fix IT now its not my problem!!!!!!!
