I loved the product—the book cover they created. I would have given 5 stars for that. However, I was disappointed in the communication during the process. I felt like I was talking to a robot or AI. I... See more

First time book publisher
BookBaby made my first book project a smooth and enjoyable experience. They were with me every step of the way, and I was especially impressed by how quickly everything came together, from receiving the digital proof to having the printed books delivered to my doorstep. I would highly recommend BookBaby to anyone looking to bring a book project to life.

Excellent service and very good quality of book printing and production.
I liked the responsiveness
I liked the responsiveness. I liked the early part of the process. I am very unhappy about the three weeks of back-and-forth about the hold on my project because of resolution problems. I got responses with no clear explanation. If I replied with "do I understand that _____ " the response either ignored the question or gave a puzzling answer. Now I am waiting to hear when I can expect to receive my books. I understand that production is about to begin, but that is rather vague. Three stars is the best I can do.
Delivered far above what I expected...
From the start of the process to the delivery of the books on my doorstep, this has been an enjoyable experience. The customer service was outstanding and the staff's expertise and experience was invaluable. And the final product, beautiful quality on the interior and exterior. I could not be more pleased with the value for what was paid for such a beautiful product. Simply put, BookBaby delivered far above what I expected and have another loyal customer.

As a first time author I had no idea of the complexity of publishing my book. My editor turned me on to Book Baby. They did a great job and kept to the timeline they state upfront. The finish product was fantastic. Thank you for making my dream a reality.

Book baby DONT DO IT!
I gave it a 2 star it would have been a 1 star if it wasn't for them answering the phone. As far as a publishing company that I give a 1 star for a few reasons.
I couldn't even get into the book because I was too busy correcting the errors from their publish.
When I called to let them know the situation they wanted to blame the writer for it all.
Maybe I got it wrong but I was under the impression of publisher is somebody that proofreads retypes re put together Prince and book bonds it.
The book I read was interesting if it wasn't for those errors I would have been able to get into it better.
It sucks because I even let them know and they just pushed it off like it was nothing the lady was even eating while she was on the phone with me.
It seems like a company that was ran out of her living room not out of a real business.
Go ahead and reply if anybody else has had the same issue with them. Book baby publisher I wouldn't do that twice.!

Life as a Farm Girl
Subject: Request for Corrected Reprint of My Memoir – Paid for Professional Editing
Dear Team,
Does anybody care anymore? Does anybody have moral empathy anymore? This is my personal memoir, and it means everything to me. I put my heart into these pages, and seeing it printed full of mistakes has hurt me deeply—like something precious was mishandled and broken. Many people have been waiting for this book’s release, and I am embarrassed to share it in its current state.
Once you received my payment, my concerns stopped being taken seriously. I’ve reached out to Collene by email just as she requested, and to others, yet I keep getting redirected from one person to another without ever reaching anyone who can actually fix this. Now I’ve talked to Linda and Jackie, and they’re telling me to talk to Morgan.
I paid $5,000 dollars—you would think that is being proofread. You spend that kind of money? I was so heartsick I couldn’t sleep for a week after waiting so long for this book. I do not want a refund. I want the editing and proofreading I paid for, followed by a corrected reprint of the book at no additional cost to me. This book deserves to be right, and so do I.
Sincerely,
Mary Justice
My first time with your company and…
My first time with your company and definitely will not be my last! Nicky was excellent with her expeditious and incredible personal service in assisting me with my purchase. I'm praying that your delivery experience on the 22nd will compliment my purchase experience!
Looking forward to spending in the future with your store!
Very Satisfied Customer,
Dennie Todd
The cost of this edit was grossly…
The cost of this edit was grossly over-expensive and I would not use Book Baby again given the cost. As I went about making the suggested edits I came across 25-30+ missed edits that were obvious. The editor had the most minimal involvement in this process possible and took the maximum time. I could have run this manuscript through ChatGPT and got the same results. Not satisfied at all. I have used this service before and got excellent result, which is why I had submitted my manuscript this time around. I will search around more carefully for options next time. Getting feedback by phone was a complete and useless effort. And on occasion was offensive from my standpoint. And upfront, let me say that your brochure is nothing more than "switch and bait" misrepresenting editing times as 7-9 days (with no mention of work days here or length of manuscript)--come on you can do better. I know because I have seen it before.

Creating a Book can be Daunting!
Creating a book can be daunting. Experiencing the customer support and seeing the finished product, led us to self publish with BookBaby. The fact that one can actually talk to someone and get feedback was invaluable. Sierra Edwards, Senior Book Publishing Specialist, was able to navigate us through all aspects of the project, from coupon discounts to setting up tax forms. As people look at the quality of the paper and the high resolution photos, they actually touch the paper and smile. The visual experience draws the reader in to fully experience the words; it adds to the narrative. Sharing the Stoke, Surfing's Global Legacy is the inspiration for the exhibit at Mystic Seaport Museum opening Memorial Day weekend 2027. The book will also be sold at the museum, but it is being used to promote the exhibition - a quality product was an absolute necessity.
Overall
Overall, it was great. There were moments during the formatting process that additional explanation and assistance would have been helpful. Everyone was very kind and quick to respond, but it felt like I could’ve used more hands on explanation without paying the $99 fee for it.
BookBaby responds to my questions…
BookBaby responds to my questions promptly, and performs editing clearly and quickly. I am delighted to work with such a reputable company.
Just awful. Avoid at all costs.
Just awful. Avoid at all costs. Will string you along and waste your time and money. Poor customer service and even worse products.
