Bookers 17 years and counting.

I've been a Bookers customer for 17 years and I've used branches all over the North West, Ellesmere, Telford, Llandudno, Ardwick, Stockport, Shrewsbury, Aberystwyth etc etc. Never had a problem, the staff have always been polite and helpful, free coffee, what's not to like. Reading some of the reviews here I'm thinking some people don't know what the nature of the business is. Off to Wrexham this morning it closes at 2 perhaps I'll get there at half past and complain.

The worst service and staff very rude

The worst service and staff very rude
I buy over 1k of staff weekly for my pub
Grabbed box of tomatoes and was told on till that they have to weigh it as they think it’s overweight, they brought another one which was underweight and than another one which they say it’s 5kili as it should be
Th y have no scale to weight anything and they were so rude
Just lost another customer who was spending thousands weekly
Management wasn’t better either, you guys need to work on your customers service as it is below any acceptance
Appalling

Unprofessional place to shop

Unprofessional place to shop
Lack of good and professional marketing and lack of staff and management training
I have been a member for a long time and I always close my eyes on a lot of things that happen in this place I have seen many time Rats and mouses running about also the worse things that I noticed today is that the staff at reception there are on there phone
Today I took the time to gather with my family my wife and my 2 wonderful daughter one of them is 5 years and they didn’t let me in as I didn’t know that kids ares allowed with there parents and the manager Tony that was on duty was bit hostile to me finally after 0ver 10years of business with you I felt humiliated and walked away and I don’t think I’ll recommend this place to any business
It’s horrible dirty and not welcoming I understand that BOOKERS got rid of the previous management that was bit better and they changed them for worse unfortunately I don’t have the time to write more as it’s a waste of time expressing myself

Went into my local branch in Newquay…

Went into my local branch in Newquay today - I have been a regular customer for 12 years - my card was declined and the Manager told me I did not have an account - I was very annoyed as I only used my account 2 weeks ago and use it regularly - the staff who I know all know me but the Manager - Mr Herd - told them not to get involved - the whole situation was bazaar - a very strange way to treat a loyal customer - i tried to ring customer services but was left on hold and then put through to a answer machine - no one has rung me back

Distinct lack of social distancing and an irresponsible idiot in the building

Experienced a very disappointing visit to Bookers at Moulsecoomb, Brighton this afternoon. Very little social distancing going on by customers, some seemed all together oblivious that social distancing was happening at all. Given the size of the place you wouldn't think it was that difficult. Made the mistake of going late in the day on a Saturday afternoon and was in the last batch of customers in the store. Things were very congested at the tills with customers milling around dis-regarding social distancing. Saw one bloke having an argument with a young idiot who was shining the laser from the self scan handset in peoples eyes and treating social distancing like it didn't exist. Thought it was going to get heated for a second. Staff did nothing.

Bookers Watford think tattooed customers are thief's!!

Apparently if you go into the bookers in Watford and go and pick up the one thing you need and go straight to pay, you're a suspicious person and need to be made to empty your pockets and have your one thing throughly checked by security incase you have managed to magically steal something off another shelf whilst you were there! Absolutely appalling, so if you dont fit conventional looks avoid this bookers as apparently tattoos and dyed hair means your a thief!

Cash but dont Carry

The system is quite simple you just load trolley and pay for it thats Cash and Carry but not anymore !
A manager searches your trolley and off loads goods that you have bought in good faith many times before off on to the floor. There is no Indication what so ever on the Gun/ Shelve that these items are RESTRICTED.
To add insult the Manager did not manage to delete all the items off the Gun and we had to have the check out Guys rescan the goods and that is against Bookers Covid rules. To solve the problem I asked if they could deliver as it is not worth or profitable to make 2 hour drive to pick up a few boxes of stock .Thats why we go weekly but the Answer was no .
The good news we have found other suppliers that like to keep customers happy and are always cheaper.
Our business is now growing again and cutting costs.

Hope someone reads the reviews

Hope someone reads the reviews, from Booker's Head Office, if they do care, obviously. As this review is all about it.
I don't want to wish anyone bad, such I wish to all Booker customer service employees loose their jobs, as some are good, Like Christina and Julie in Dagenham brunch and I believe in Karma but it looks like booker does very good financially, during COVID19 outbreak and I suppose they don't care about customer service, as probably too many customer to really care about. But no, please stay operating for all these hard working warehouse staff and generally good staff.
Customers service is a joke at Enfield brunch. If you pick up the phone on behalf of the brand, look after your brand, you work for, don't just tell it is not your problem. Just put auto-attendant on your phone system and safe these £5 an hour you are paying your customer service staff, as I believe £8.72/hour they do not deserve. Same story applies to the delivery side of business. Diana, from customer service, pointless part of your business. Refuses to help, as this is not her department. I believe no one buys anything from the customer service receptionist and everything is to do with selling goods at Makro/Booker? Isn't it?
Delivery department, Luis, I hope I spelt the name right, any other good Luis's, sorry. He doesn't car either. BOOKER/MAKRO, do you pay these people well? Why they are so unprofessional? Order placed for £500, placed Monday, today is Thursday and order never came, called everyday finding out, no call back. Spoken to Luis, no apologising, just said it might come tonight. Please note, response was it might come tonight. And this is with a delivery promise for next day to a restaurant. All local grocery shops loves us, we are paying premium prices next door, so soon your prices won't be any good anymore. If you do advertise next day delivery, fulfil on your promises. I can admit the prices are good, therefore we come back , every week. We will have to look for some options to buy elsewhere. JJ Foodservice for example, yes, 10% extra for delivery but I suppose free service from Booker has its own price, which is careless, inconsistent and it is a guess game when your product is coming.

Booker Canterbury

Terrible customer service, rude person on phone very unhelpful, just wanted to have a go at you down the phone regarding an order I had to return due to covid19.
Coronavirua has caused havoc to the whole industry, don’t get angry with your customers when things don’t go your way, especially when it’s £10k a month worth of business going your way!!!

Retail feedback regarding lack of support amidst pandemic

Building a retail business requires building a good long term relationship with wholesalers and vice versa. Unfortunately Booker has missed this point in this pandemic and decided to reduce hours, close on Sunday and employ staff who seem need more training in how to deal with their clients . Compared to pareffets, which not only showed support but whose staff are very well organized and respectful . I’m not sure if retailers will forget this mishandling in the future. Time will tell.
